- Unusualbox is an independent artist making silly animations and stuff. Big thanks to the 3k + subscribers to my silly little animation channel. Kind of got into Undertale after the train left the station and was just going to give making anything for it a miss, but a lot of subscribers requested it so I put together a short of my big favorite moment. I also felt it could uses a little bit more love as the “bad time” seems to get all the animation spot light.

haha I think the only "continuity error" would be that my chara's stripe shirt isnt drawn to the official design, but yours was the actual one stripe shirt.
I like how theres no weapon being held too, so thats another plus for me as I also broke stereotype of not making chara use the knife in my animation. .
Everyone is going to need artistic licenses with the look, I didn't want to show chara's eye so I just
put hair over them all the time and I change a lot on Undyne dark armour set from what's in the game.
I always liked that in your short by the way, with the use of the pan and gun as we wouldn't have “the
knife”. I umm-ed and arr-ed about adding a book, but I didn't like the look, them pink ballerina shoes though...that was a missed opportunity for me.

Years after first seeing this in 2016, this is the only thing in the entire world that still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up - and it did not only one once, but again, and again, and still does it to this day.

In a Pacifist Run, Frisk can tell Undyne anime is real.
In a Genocide Run, Undyne MAKES anime real through SHEER. FREAKING. DETERMINATION.
Also, the sound effects add so much. The gasp, the yell as she takes the hit, the crunching and cracking as she's dissolving.
Then the WHOOSH, as she literally throws herself towards her foe with one arm, and above all else the SONIC BOOM when she hurls her spear.
So well done!
this is by far my favorite animation for this bit of the game. it really shows the intensity of her breaking down and the triumphant turnaround of her reforming (refusing?) and becoming even stronger than before, becoming a true hero. the closest thing to a more detailed translation of events that ive seen so far. plus the voice acting is very decent, which i think is critical to this scene hitting as hard as it does

Well Monster Kid's voice is a pretty generic "woman trying to sound like a young boy" voice, and Undyne doesn't come off with the roughness she has in the game.

you got 3 out the 5 in there, transformation, is a bit of kill la kill and something else bit older. spot on with fate/zero. evangelion but not the shot your thinking. No modoka, but oddly i was playing around with doing something a kin to the Witches style for the lost humans but the idea never got legs. nice work on the keen eye there.

By technicality, some creative licenses were made, which I appreciate.
First time here and i already watched this 5 times in a row. Fucking hilarious artwork, so incredibly epic, just captured that moment in a perfect way. The flavour of the anime-like transformation paired with her believes and determination, the attention to details like the sonic boom made by the gigant spear plus the fitting music... THIS IS DEFINITELY AN EPIC BATTLE AGAINST A TRUE HERO AND THIS ANIMATION GOT THAT ESSENCE.

3:45 I smiled the same way when I first saw Undyne becoming Undyne the Undying... Not because I wanted to fight... but because I knew that Undyne couldn't die that easily and also because I wanted someone to stop me killing everyone :)
But she failed and I felt something weird. This wasn't happiness or relief, this was something close to emptiness and despair.
The lesson Toby gave me is that sometimes, when we made to much things to satisfy our curiosity, we actually lose. The "win" against Undyne was my Game Over. I resetted the game just after that.
PS: Sorry, I maybe went a bit far sharing all of that ^^'

I like the thought that in some timelines Undyne does end up defeating you. Only in one do you succeed. So you can rest easy knowing she won at least 10 times while you only one once lol
That right there is the horror of good vs evil. For good to win it must do so every single time for its flame is intense but fragile. Evil though, it just has to win once, and that's it, all for nothing.
