In your opinion, does Google translate help you get by with talking to Japanese people? 😅 I heard it does and doesn’t but some of the language just doesn’t stick in my head so I probably need it 😂
Thanks for the video! Really appreciate the updates.. I can really feel the reduced update frequency haha but it keeps me on the edge now to check for a new video coming!

I literally just came back home to the US from Tokyo and just now stumbled onto this video. I was in Ni Chome recently and was hoping to run into you guys but didn't see y'all out. I noticed there were a lot of foreigners at Aiiro Cafe and Dragon Men, and a lot of locals at Eagle. Hope to see y'all someday!
This is super helpful! I’m visiting for the first time in 7 years in January-February and can’t wait. Need to check back through your vids for some places to check out!
Hey fellow gays! I have a trip planned for May 2023 so this is perfect for me to watch, also I recently found your channel and love your friendship dynamic! Keep up the great videos and amazing content
Great fun as always. San Francisco masking depends on neighborhoods. Lots of masking in Asian neighborhoods, and I always try to respect that, even though elsewhere I usu don't mask outdoors.
Okay, complete tangent but... Years ago I was watching a fansub of the drama version of One Pound Gospel where the subbers translated oden as "hot steamy hodgepodge" and it always makes me giggle.
I always miss you guys I'm very excited with your new video when there's a new one. This are my answer to your Pass or Smash game Pass or smash 1. Usak or Sasuke - 1st question is hard but I will choose Usak. They are both good looking but I think Sasuke’s body is too big for me so I choose Usak. 2. Usak or Susumu - this round I’ll choose Susumu because I like his smile and he doesn’t have beard. 3. Usak or Hiroya - I’ll pick Hiroya he is one of my gogo boy crush. 4. Yuhi or Sai - Yuhi i like his smile. 5. Yuhi or Sasuke - I’ll still choose Yuhi maybe because Sasuke is too musculine for me but I don’t know what will be my reaction when I see him in person 😏 6. Yuhi or Hiroya - Still Hiroya for me he has a best body to cuddle with 7. Yuhi or Susumu - Susumu his smile and eyes ugh lol 8. Yuhi or Kouya - can I say both? Lol my answer will be Yuhi 9. Kouya or Jin - JIN all the way!!! He is my ultimate crush as of now 10. Usak or Kouya - Usak. 11. Kouya or Koume - This one is also hard I will choose Koume because he looks loyal and innocent while Kouya looks like a heartbreaker because he knows he’s good looking and can find someone new in just a blink of an eye. But overall I will choose JIN among them. What do you think about my answer? Is it great or interesting?
Xellos from Slayers! So much fun. Good tips. And yes on the sushi. I had some on my former trip and the consistency and type was hard for me to enjoy and eat. Apologized like crazy for leaving food!
We’re planning a trip for October, and your videos are the most helpful ones I’ve found! Thank you so much. (Even though we’re older bears, your videos are clear and Frank where other blogs and videos are shy or evasive.)
Coming to Tokyo in April for a week. Its been SO long 😢 Never really explored the gay scene, but will definitely donsome research on bars, massages, bathhouses (welcoming to old white guys like me 😅 ). Thanks for all you do, guys, always kove the videos ❤
I've been to Japan a bunch, but have always gone with straight friends who've not really been interested in having a gay ol' time in Tokyo. However, I'm coming solo in February so this vid was helpful. 👀 Love your guys' videos ^_^
It would be super interesting if you could talk a bit about the other big cities in Japan. And also maybe Twitter? I think a lot of gay people in Japan use it? Thanks for the video ❤
I think other cities are fun for general travel but not too much going on for gay activities, maybe Osaka. We also have videos on some popular places like Hokkaido and Okinawa. Yes a lot of people in Japan use Twitter, it's really big here
I know it's not your scene but, RumbleFish was THE best bar we went to in Shinjuku. It's a tiny bear bar in Ni Chome. The owners are fabulous and super friendly, and there was no sleazy vibe at all.
Just found this channel and I appreciate you both for sharing this part of Tokyo that’s not shown much. The last time I was in Japan was in 2009 and I didn’t check out much of the gay scene at that time since I focused on main tourist sites. I’m planning a trip for my 40th birthday this year and was thinking about going again with my partner (he hasn’t been). This type of info is so useful for me since the only gay related thing I did was Arty Farty but would like to explore gay Tokyo more if I go again. Thanks for the content and hope you guys get more views!
I just moved back to Tokyo after 11 years in the states. I lived in Japan before and in my 20’s nichome was where I would go. Now I’m 42. So I was wondering what bars do you recommend in Ueno or Shimbashi for 30’s /40’s.
I'll be going to Japan on Dec to Jan, the timing of this video is can't be more perfect, though I'm not sure a lot of the tips will apply to where I'm going.. lol thank you for the awesome video as always!
Also most US ATM cards work in Japan, so you don’t need to bring actual US dollars with you. The ATM will dispense yen, and at a fairly decent exchange rate.
Hey, credit card and digital payment including Apple pay are very common now. Having some cash is definitely a must (especially in 2chome and more obscure venues lol), but you can pretty much rely on card/phone payment. I hardly ever have any cash with me.
it is true that digital payments like pay pay and line pay are much more used now. but there are always stores that reject those like local restaurants and small businesses. even some doctors or super markets only accept cash. so I agree with Andrew that it is still quite cash, when you need to be 100% prepared
Thank you guys 🥰 this video is really useful for me in planning my Tokyo trip next month. I would like to know if D-light is a foreigner welcome or not? I really want to see Sasuke's show there. ☺
Great update! My friend and I are planning sometime next year to go. Hopefully things will be even more open by then. Looking forward to checking out Boiler Room! I'm definitely team Sasuke! Adore Usak too! But I miss Yuto Brave! What's he up to?
I've been very curious about the massage parlours with the masseurs in tiny speedos and you can even choose the masseur. If anyone has tried their services please share!
I understand that someone in a foreign city is confused and out of kilter and can block an escalator with a suitcase, but when local people do that I find it infuriating. Fabulous information, as always! Thank you for the video!
Oh my guys! I am from Slovakia, living in Belgium. Love watching your channel and you two are amazing! And I am seeing your t-shirts and feeling curious and excited… Where do they come from? What’s the story behind them? Sending you much love!
@@TokyoBTM That’s so sweet! I don’t know if you’ve heard about the incident that occurred in Bratislava about a month ago… a young guy entered a queer bar and killed two young people with the intention to attack the LGBTQI community… so your gesture warms my heart and feels like a huge support (even if it’s unintentional). Love your work, hope to meet you if I ever manage to travel back to Japan!
Great tips, guys!! I have a very serious question. I’m traveling to Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hakone) in July 2023. Is it ok if I wear very short shorts, especially when I go hiking? I live in the caribbean, where it’s usually very warm and humid all year, so I’m used to wearing shorts that are very high above the knee (4” and 5” inseam). ok I’m not gonna lie… I love they way my legs/thighs look in shorts. So, where I’m from it’s ok to even go out to clubs and bars in hot tiny shorts. My question is… would that be ok in Japan or would it be considered rude or unseemly? Thanks!!
I really want to know, like what not really to do being gay. But pretty much look like most Japanese people are cool with it I think, I don't know if when I hold the hand of my future pattern everyone going to say something, I think not. Anyway thanks for the video.
As a bald white 30-something, don't do what I did and live at a particular stop on the Chuo line. Andrew has already cornered that market and I was left to pick up the scraps. I am gone now, I hope you are happy Andrew!
Hey guys! I'm not sure if you talked about how to go about getting it in one of your previous videos but if NOT could you make a video about how to get PreP while living in Japan? I'll moving to Japan soon as a student and want to be able to get PreP while there. Thanks!
Aww, I liked going to Arty Farty before the pandemic, and you are telling me that I was too old for it and no one told me about it (very Japanese!)... 😭
Glad to know whats up post pandemic! I'd love to hear any advice you guys have for gay solo travelers in Japan. I'm hoping to visit Tokyo in about a year and check out the scene, but going alone sounds a bit intimidating xD Also #teamsasuke 🔥
Would you guys recommend golden week as a good time to visit Tokyo? It sounds like a lot of Japanese leave Tokyo so the tourist sites will be less busy, but is the nightlife dead? I’m asking specifically about the weekend of may 5-7. Thanks in advance!!
Just returned from Japan last night. Have to agree on the masking culture. It's everywhere and I have very seldom seen Japanese not wearing one (except for a couple of young punks). Other than that, when I do see unmasked faces, they tend to belong to Westerners; Asian tourists still tend to be more abiding. One thing for people on international departures - if you thought the queues to clear immigration were terrible pre-pandemic, it certainly did not get any better. Don't be obsessed with maximising your trip by shopping/dining on the landside and not leave enough time to go through the insane lines. You would probably do well to have more than a two hour window to do your check in/immigration clearance. I witnessed two tourists (from my country :( ) who were begging to be VIP-ed through cause they had been queueing but only got to the middle of the long line. They only had 10 mins to their boarding time. Then they were going "PLEASE HELP US". A more enjoyable departure can be held if you arrive at the airport 2hr30mins (or even 3hrs!) beforehand to do your check in and then, start doing immigration 2hrs before your flight. Guaranteed stress-free experience!
yes PASMO is also widely used in Japan, id say they are basically the same now. SUICA is issued by JR which is more widely used in Japan, PASMO is issued by Tokyo Metro
Just to clarify, it’s not accurate to say no one in America is wearing a mask inside. Many people may not be wearing masks; however, there are still a fair number of people who are choosing to wear a mask inside, myself included and at least 1/3 of my students.
Hey guys, happy Tuesday ❤️ let us know if you have more questions about visiting Japan. We can definitely answer in future videos 🤗 have a nice week!
Next time you're doing a Q&A, I want to know how you two went from acquaintances to friends to best friends!
In your opinion, does Google translate help you get by with talking to Japanese people? 😅 I heard it does and doesn’t but some of the language just doesn’t stick in my head so I probably need it 😂
Thanks for keeping us updated and being my favorite source for LGBT things in Japan :)

Andrew being relatable with: “Why can’t I have both?”
The kanji for toilet flush had me 😂😂😂😂 also thanks for addressing the mask thing for foreigners. Obsessed with those speaker lamps!!!!

Love the video today I like what you were talking about and thought it great to know these things when visiting Japan.

The luggage thing applies everywhere. I’m constantly having to get past people (tourists) who take up both spaces on escalators.
Yay! Super happy to see another video from you both!
Future meet and greet perhaps…?
Great Episode guys - was kind of hoping for a bit of an explanation of the matching Slovak tee shirts you were wearing
I asked my friend from Slovakia and he filled me in on the shooting 😢
Since I first saw it in a presentation about Apple Pay, I’ve been fascinated by the Suica Card and it looks cute.
