What you also ignore is the consequence of lowering standards, which means weaker men are joining the military and that is why you have your anecdotal experience where you claim "female A is better than other male marines" not accepting that weaker men are also enlisting which muddies the water a bit.
I’ve heard stories of different physical requirements in basic training for men and women. If a woman can meet the physical requirements that a man must meet, let them serve.
Our strength lay in our character as a nation and not our military. Our army, navy, and air force should be seen as a last resort option for conflict resolution. With less emphasis on competition with our adversaries and more emphasis on building good relationships among ourselves and with them, we won't ever need to rely on the military.

We don't want soldiers to go to the battlefield as cannon fodder and to die, but to accompmish the objectives and come back alive, without becoming a liability to the comrades in arms. 100% capability and fitness is a top criteria to survive the bombs, bullets, harsh weather conditions, close combat encounters and male soldiers of the enemy. We don't want our women troops to become easy game. Keep it simple. What looks good in movies may not be practical in an actual war scenario. Great job Senator and SoD!!
There’s different jobs in the military between a grunt on the ground, an Air Force maintainer, and a Space Force cybersecurity warrior who spends his day sitting in front of a computer (whose PT test is literally wearing a FitBit). This is because there's a magic power in equity. When the weak are included, the strong step up and immediately go to work to support them. The weak become invigorated ---- feeling a sense of belonging they didn't before and the strong feel like the bastions of courage and strength that they are; and this boosts morale and cohesiveness through mutual benefit among all the troops on the battlefield. When you have great morale and cohesiveness among troops on the battlefield, it is like they become enclosed within and protected by an invisible layer of Kevlar of which the adversary stands no chance of penetrating.

Here is a comment from the other part of the military, the family member. Now, my husband is retired yet he served in uniform form over 28 years. He was often deployed to an area that the United States was engaged in an active war, or listed as hazardous duty pay area. Lowering standards in any job is dangerous for all involved. The main thrust of the should women be in combat? Some state that if the standards were lowered, altered or changed, pick the word is more palatable for your mind, which would then allow women to be selected for a combat mission. Here is a question for all to mull over. Would you lover the standards for the medical personnel? Would you allow the dermatologist to perform heart surgery just because she was not selected for the cardiology track in her internship-residency program? Would you tell the mechanic who was repairing the tank, airplane, Duce and a half to complete the repair yet did not truly have the skill set but passed a lowered exam level so she could be granted the MOS as mechanic? How about the person who is going to pack your chute' and was not really certain all of the critical ins and outs of packing it so when the rip cord is pulled the chute' truly does deploy? Now back to being a family member, if something had happened to my husband, or anyones family, and the reason was she/he who held XX MOS was not fully compete due to lowered standards how would you feel if you had to be the one to go with the Chaplain and CAC Officer to inform the family?
I only served in support units in the 80s. I knew a few tough ladies, who could hang during long runs, weeks of field training and my two deployments, but most fell out early due to physical or female issues. They were never treated as equal to men. Women wore their hair long, used make-up, dressed differently in class As, etc., etc., etc.
as long as a woman is an asset on the field and not a liability, I whole heartedly support women in combat roles. They HAVE to hit the same standard as the men in those units in order to ensure she is an asset and not having to be carried. any burden on a combat team directly degrades their efficacy as a fighting force, and most of all their safety.
When I read the headlines, I cringed at Pete Hegseth. I was in training with Capt. Rosie Wild (British Army and the first female officer to pass an arduous course), and I am a huge proponent of women in combat roles. Then I realised what he was actually saying; that standards need to be the same across the board. Well, that's just common fucking sense.
Men would never stand for disparaging generalizations by women against their gender in the same way that you guys disparage women. It disgusts me. As a former military wife, I can tell you these arguments about women in combat are old and outmoded, going back 30 yrs or more. Having said that, I am interested in knowing more about what organizations within the US and elsewhere are Chinese fronts. A list would be helpful. While I don't have much money, I do attempt to use American businesses and products, so it would be helpful to know what businesses and organizations are foreign national fronts designed to subterfuge democracy.

When I was at basic, almost every single woman walked the 2 mile run. Probably only half could do more than 10 pushups, at MP school probably only 10% could pass the pistol range. Yet they all graduated with me🤣
Our enemies Russia, China, and North Korea haven't lowered their standards. Why should the US? This conversation perpetuated by the Left/Democrats is perplexing.

America is doomed 😂 the fact that these guys are discussing and debating such a silly matter means American people's collective wisdom is in deep trouble 😅
They might have trouble recruiting so the only way to increase chances of hiring is to open the field by lowering the entry requirement and by being open to either gender ---- someone is better than no one type of rationale.
why is it relevant? Did anyone ask for the standards to be lowered so women could join? My issues is denying women altogether from joining based on their gender. There are many women who lift heavier weights than their male counterparts with the same body weight. So what's even the issue here?
This is basic common sense if a woman can not carry her pack her ammo and weaponry in a combat situation it can lead to casualties period . That is not a knock on women it is a fact, of life. No one is going to carry her weapon for her, or spare ammo. No one is going to throw her 5 pound grenade to a safe distance. Seriously, If you do not meet the physical requirements of the job then you cant do it period.
The officers I served with in the Navy, would fill up large steel foot lockers with about 50 huge training manuals. Because the giant books were classified, only the enlisted Aircrew were allowed to have physical control of that now-300 pound steel box. (why? The officers knew they were exempt from physical labor) It took 4 super physically fit Viking SENSOs to move the box a mile from the squadron duty office to the aircraft carrier squadron Ready Room. After traversing the huge carrier hangar bay, we had to hump it down a near-vertical steel ladder, barely wide enough to pass thru. So heavy and awkward, we almost dropped it down the 12 foot ladder, and nearly crushed the two dudes on the bottom. Light duty was not an option for Fleet combat units.
And let me say, it's refreshing to see two completely devoted patriots working the problem as a team. They both have seen war up close. I feel so much safer with these guys leading our nation's security interests. And these guys will make recruitment skyrocket both for active duty as well as the Veteran community.
it's crazy how some of these senators have the Ukraine/US flag pin obviously to show support but have these female senators asked president zilinsky as to why the US is standing by a country where they only let the men young and old die for on the front lines and then women are tasked to take care of their children? just throwing that out there. kind of crazy if you ask me
I had a ruck so heavy as a gunner that it had to be placed on me standing and the frame snapped during mission lol. And that’s just the pack, not including the 240 and kit
The one thing that changes in combat is the specify weight of a fellow Marine or Soldier should one fall , can a woman carry her fellow team members to safety or to the nearest aid?
Some men won't be able to meet these basic standards as well, regardless of race. I suppose a small number of women might meet these physical standards, however remote.
I will have you know that I've hiked and jogged in full 65lb. pack over mountainous terrain at 4 miles per hour in austere environments for extended periods of time...approximately 20-25miles per day...and I'm older than most in the military...so shut up about statistics. because we have female tank commanders and crew members on the tanks that can hold their own. Hey if the IDF, German and Aussie Tank crewmembers can have females why not everyone else. I had a female crewmember as a loader on my tank and she did better than some of the male counterparts. but hey, what am I to know on my 4 deployments...🤷♂Its always the ones that think they know it all and probably most likely the ones that did not wear the uniforms to speak that females have no part in combat MOS....How about wear that uniform?
@@CCM1199idf have much higher standards , most women can't carry a 50 cal ,being in a tank compared to rangers isn't applicable
@@CCM1199 Exceptions are not the rule and you have no real evidence to back that up. We do have the USMC studies tho and they have shown that all male units perform better in every category. American people should not care what other nations do, female combat units were not spearheading anything in Gaza, they're glorified border patrol, very attractive too, but they were not on the frontlines in Gaza, if you watched the battles, its all men. Why? the IDF cares about winning.
What you also ignore is the consequence of lowering standards, which means weaker men are joining the military and that is why you have your anecdotal experience where you claim "female A is better than other male marines" not accepting that weaker men are also enlisting which muddies the water a bit.
@ I did, I served in the Army as a 91B combat medic.
@@CCM1199 I've served. Women don't belong in combat units.
with anything physical, hiring a woman is like hiring a small weak man, anyway..this costs lives and money
Assuming they only eat half the size of the men's ration and occupy only half the seat in the transport airplane.
you'd be amazed what a woman can accomplish with a strong mindset and strong weapon skills
@ yeah they're great for things like space travel
@ yeah but that's something else entirely
Not all women are small or weak…. And not every man is big and strong.
Kind of the same for schools, they keep lowering the standards which does not translate to smart productive citizens.
I’ve heard stories of different physical requirements in basic training for men and women. If a woman can meet the physical requirements that a man must meet, let them serve.
USA!!!
That pocket square is fire!
ITS GOOD FOR HUMANITY TO HAVE A REPUBLICAN DEFENSE SECRETARY OF AMERICA
In steadof lowering standards lets bring our people up to those standards. We will be a stronger nation for it.
Our strength lay in our character as a nation and not our military. Our army, navy, and air force should be seen as a last resort option for conflict resolution. With less emphasis on competition with our adversaries and more emphasis on building good relationships among ourselves and with them, we won't ever need to rely on the military.
Yes, when I joined the Navy, females needed a high school diploma, and males with no diploma or GED were qualified. High school dropouts were qualified. Is that lowering the standards?
We are living in the last days.✌🏾🙏🏾☝🏾👍🏾💯
If you noticed not once did Pete say when asked a question: "Senator/Congressman thank you for your question"....
God Bless Pete and Senator Cotton and all patriots and their families..
If youre able to perform all duties as required great, if not, sorry!
I know an infantry Sergeant who has seen women with a Ranger Tab, who couldn’t carry a jock strap. They have lowered and cheapened the standards.
Hegseth goes deep, it's a walkoff Homerun !!!
I like Mr Tim he is for the usa
Being retired military, my wife and I went Seoul for vacation last April. We visited Camp Humphreys Army base and were appalled to see so many young over weight lower enlisted soldiers at the food court. It was pathetic. Women with ponytails and men wearing beards for religious purposes. I hope this WOKE crap will come to an end now.
Raise standards.
He isn't saying that female soldiers become 'comfort ladies' . Just the relatable and objective facts that our ladies can't keep up with the men in special units. I've been there myself and it doesn't work.
Ah finally some questions pertinent to the job Hegseth is up for
When I was qualified to be an OTR Truck driver. I had to PROVE that I could LIFT 50 pounds. I could, but I immediately said...I CAN but will I on a regular basis...NOT A CHANCE. I would not expect a Woman to carry on her back a wounded soldier for any distance if he needed to get to a medic. That is what many a soldier has had to do in COMBAT.
equity has no place here
We don't want soldiers to go to the battlefield as cannon fodder and to die, but to accompmish the objectives and come back alive, without becoming a liability to the comrades in arms. 100% capability and fitness is a top criteria to survive the bombs, bullets, harsh weather conditions, close combat encounters and male soldiers of the enemy. We don't want our women troops to become easy game. Keep it simple. What looks good in movies may not be practical in an actual war scenario.
Great job Senator and SoD!!
ok all women should be enrolled in selective service..wtf are we all talking about here this is ridiculous
Agree, it's gotten crazy.
why aren't the physical fitness test the same in all branches of service...equality and equity are not the same words...!!
There’s different jobs in the military between a grunt on the ground, an Air Force maintainer, and a Space Force cybersecurity warrior who spends his day sitting in front of a computer (whose PT test is literally wearing a FitBit).
They’re all military. They’re all serving. But they’re not all combat soldiers. If an Air Force maintainer ever has to kit up and fire the weapon he’s trained on, something has gone terribly wrong.
@@christopherwatson8850 thats true but what is also true is everyone is expected to be a rifleman as his/hers first MOS..and thats how it is suppose to be
This is because there's a magic power in equity.
@@fallenskybird when all have a standard of strength and competence it benefits everyone..weak should not be a word used in describing anyone in our fighting forces

so Pete thinks that good soldiers are those who can pass the standards of the job?
but quotas, oppressors, DEI
Let’s not forget that lowering standards to get women into these roles puts lives at even greater risk. Including theirs.
Do women generally want to be in combat roles anyway?
as long as a woman is an asset on the field and not a liability, I whole heartedly support women in combat roles. They HAVE to hit the same standard as the men in those units in order to ensure she is an asset and not having to be carried.
any burden on a combat team directly degrades their efficacy as a fighting force, and most of all their safety.
I’ve never seen a chamber full like this!
Best of the best doesn't care about your DEI standing.
He’s talking with his hands like Trump. 😂
Pete Hegseth Grand Slam 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Men would never stand for disparaging generalizations by women against their gender in the same way that you guys disparage women. It disgusts me. As a former military wife, I can tell you these arguments about women in combat are old and outmoded, going back 30 yrs or more. Having said that, I am interested in knowing more about what organizations within the US and elsewhere are Chinese fronts. A list would be helpful. While I don't have much money, I do attempt to use American businesses and products, so it would be helpful to know what businesses and organizations are foreign national fronts designed to subterfuge democracy.
Imagine Cotton being in the military. He would be soft like his name is.
Hegseth!!
Tom Cotten was an Infantry Combat Officer.
So was Hegseth.
Not your average folks.
Not many people have or could do the jobs they did.
Both men served as Infantry officers in combat with the 101st Airborne Division. Cotton was in the 327th Infantry Regiment and Hegseth was with the 187th Infantry Regiment.
Lowering the standards means everyone gets a trophy...correct?
It's a way to trick our enemy ---- if they see women, they'll back down out of respect.
Vance - Cotton 2028
This is literally just common sense
What does race have to do with whether a person qualifies as a competent infantry person. I served 22 1/2 years in the Marine Corps and nevver heard anything about racial quotas to be a grunt. @ 2:40
All DEI requirements need to be removed, anyone who suggests them needs to be removed from position
The more the Dems don’t like him , the more I like him 🇺🇸
As long as they meet the standards, thus earn it.
A lot of Dems don't agree with it ---- just like not all GOP's are against it.
USA are there own BIGGEST enemies, look out how many PROBLEMS your "Country" have, HOME AND WORLD WIDE, use your CRAPP to your own Government, there is SO much hate in USA, right now.... It is so sad for REAL American people.
(why? The officers knew they were exempt from physical labor)
It took 4 super physically fit Viking SENSOs to move the box a mile from the squadron duty office to the aircraft carrier squadron Ready Room.
I'm a woman. He's got a point.
I'm not saying women can't fight. I'm saying the military is put together to win. Not all equality equals to a winning force.
I too support him as Dec def as a navy PO3 class
Pete is one switched on, confirm him now
Pete has a very patriotic handkerchief in his pocket 😉
22 minutes not 22 miles buddy
it's crazy how some of these senators have the Ukraine/US flag pin obviously to show support but have these female senators asked president zilinsky as to why the US is standing by a country where they only let the men young and old die for on the front lines and then women are tasked to take care of their children? just throwing that out there. kind of crazy if you ask me
Makes sense to me. If you can't meet the standards your a danger to yourself and others if in combat.
I had a ruck so heavy as a gunner that it had to be placed on me standing and the frame snapped during mission lol. And that’s just the pack, not including the 240 and kit
Lower the Standards = LOWER THE PRODUCT!! Put a VW engine in a Ferrari and let me know what you have?
The one thing that changes in combat is the specify weight of a fellow Marine or Soldier should one fall , can a woman carry her fellow team members to safety or to the nearest aid?
Some men won't be able to meet these basic standards as well, regardless of race. I suppose a small number of women might meet these physical standards, however remote.
I will have you know that I've hiked and jogged in full 65lb. pack over mountainous terrain at 4 miles per hour in austere environments for extended periods of time...approximately 20-25miles per day...and I'm older than most in the military...so shut up about statistics. Women do not erode military standards, your attitudes about women erode military standards. Grow up guys...and I mean Cotton as well as Hegseth. You guys need to get your shit together. These archaic arguments are embarrassing and beneath all of us!
Thanks, it takes more than physicality to win a war. When I joined the Navy, women needed a high school diploma to qualify. Men without the high school diploma or GED were qualified. Is that lowering the standards to recruit men?
I think thats all he ment but respects a womans choice!
We did the best we could with one hand tied behind our back, I mean with the "Rules of Engagement" we were given . . . and other ridiculous requirements !
