i don't really pay for in game currency, in fortnite i just make sure i have enough vbucks for the next battle pass, from my save the world challenges, and previous battlepasses, and i literally just wear one skin pretty much all the time, the giddy up skin, so i don't think skins are that overpriced, if you are smart you just buy the battlepass once, and then you are set.
When it comes to Fortnite, the most expensive cosmetics are really the result of licensing fees; stuff like car skins or kicks must have rigid demands from the collaborating company because they have a very apparent premium on the price.
and this is the reason why most of the videos are a waste of time to watch.. the person in the video cant do a lick of research hell article writers copy and paste each others own work ...so why start doing actual research now? 3 -5 mins and its easy to find the licensing agreements.. they are after all public info
If a games free they can charge whatever they want for skins since they’ve already delivered you a full game and the skins don’t add or takeaway from your experience of that game and they don’t force or require you to ever spend money.
I think the biggest issue is gacha. Games like ZZZ use gacha to unlock characters making it nearly impossible to get certain characters if you like them. Even though you can eventually get some for free, it's still annoying especially when you get an item you don't want. MHUR does this awfully btw. Getting skins in that game is physically impossible as a f2p player.
Fortnite does it really well with it's skins and cosmetics, unless we're talking about cars, instruments or those terrible shoes. All the things that you would actually care about though, are at least now priced really fair and very easy to get, with Epic having even free skins and items every so often in the game for everyone.
It reminds me of Lego and their prices. Most of their original stuff is a good brick-to-buck ratio, but when licensed stuff like Star Wars or Marvel comes out, it is considerably more expensive, because royalties are needed to actually make the sets
I consider COD games and football games some of the worst investments. I get it that if u like these games youll buy the new ones but theyre so overpriced for barely a difference whereas helldivers is so much more fun and has so much more content since you dont need to buy a new helldivers game every year you can save even more money and have tonnes of fun similar to Fortnite and siege etc. but i get it if people like spending money on those kinds of games
they cost as much as people are willing to pay for... just because you cant or refuse to afford it doesnt mean other dont buy it.. trust me when i say its not expensive... i own all the nike shoes and plan on getting more.. im hoping epic sells gloves next for fps mode
I mean skins are stupidly expensive for what they are, some are 26 dollars, the minimum wage in America is SEVEN dollars, no one is acting like they're going broke buying them either it's just that it's massively overpriced. Just because you're dumb enough to capitulate doesn't mean it should be common practice as well, think about it, consumers as a whole are getting less out of their games because stupid people will keep supporting the crappy decisions these companies make.
It's the coomsumer they have no self control anymore I've met some who spent $3500-12500 on a game and are like "it was well worth it and good times" If the game shut down tomorrow they don't own anything to show for. If parents had more common sense cod and 2K EA would shut down tomorrow. Sadly this is the world we live in and games just continue to get worse.
Tbf all the time people are willing to put that kind of money into the game it won't be shut down for many years. Fortnite is cosmetic driven, it's gonna be here for a very long time.
Regarding Marvel Rivals, I like to think I wont buy a skin with the currency I earned by playing, more to discount the skin with like 300-400 currency I earned by grinding, same thing with Helldivers
Marvel Rivals is one I feel can be excused for the reasoning that nearly all of the default hero costumes are similar to the iconic ones from the comics (sorry Wolverine) And every hero being free is awesome.
Don’t even get me started with cod never spent more money on a game then mw 2019 just for none of the skins to be transferred to the next cods better yet most the skins I did pay for ended up being free in mw2 and 3 anyway there was even a bundle that said “limited time bundle support veterans” so I thought hell yeah unique cosmetics and donations to a good cause only for them to remove that description a few days later and sell it as a normal bundle that’s not limited time…
I've only put alot of effort on WW2 (2017) and got everything free it's a blast to play! have not touched any other cod since. They just don't make them like they used to

League of legends casually not getting mentioned despite having $500 skin and a $250 gacha skin that capitalises on the arcane hype
Horse armor and it’s effects on the economy
This is so sad
The fact u guys keep buying a new cod every year means u don't actually mind these scummy business practices

Marvel rivals also allows you to earn in game currency, sure a skin costs 18 dollars but I’ve already earned half of a skin price from earning credits
I’ve already earned everything and after you’ve done that they done renew

The rivals battlepass will be $10 when Season 1 starts, but I'm glad they did what Halo Infinite did, and made them permanent
