Philippines has solved the problem in first half. In the first half, they have no option from a broken play but resorted to one on one. The Japan offense focused on the freethrow area as their anchor and pivot point. In the second half, I observed some adjustment from the Phil side that created a trouble on the Japanese side. Philippines shifted to 3-2 zone and occasional 2-3 if needed. They run pretty nice offense, a double pin down on top and on weak side. Japan did not recover from then, good coaching from the Philippine side and Alas was on fire. Congrats Philippines.

In fairness sa coaching staff maganda ang adjustment nila sa offense at defense. Sa last 2 ball possession nakaconvert sila ng 4 points with a decoy play from Alas from the top pick and roll going to the roller sa basket. Magkasunod na ganon play yon. Yong defense nila na 2-3 zone ang pumigil sa Japan para makapag counter.
Ung late adjustment nila sa last quarter na 3-2 zone, un ung gumulo sa opensa ng japan..

昨年のu16インド戦、U18イラン戦、韓国戦でもゾーンに苦しみましたが、今回も打開出来ませんでしたね。マルチネスHCの采配に批判できるポイントはあるでしょうが、これはミニバスからの課題かなあ。
U17を経験できないのは選手たちのことを思うと苦い気分。ただ、経験がより少ない5人の中学生(うち1人は14歳)がこの完全アウェーな雰囲気や、難しいゲームを経験できたことは糧になるはず(月並みですが)。来年にはU18があります。高田くんや新郷くん、ベネディクトくんや白谷くんは呼ばれる可能性がじゅうぶんある。すぐ先の舞台でさっそくこの経験を活かせるかもしれない。チームとしては同じ轍を踏まないよう、ゾーン対策を用意してみてほしい。

Defense did it for batang Gilas! Japan failed to adjust in time. Both teams played well but batang Gilas had players who shined towards the last quarter.
