They were debut as Acapella dance group,lot of their songs have acapella version,check these two epic ballads from them,Love In The Ice and Bolero live from 2009 Tokyo dome concert.
They are still active but since 2011 TVXQ became a duo and last Dec. they celebrated their 20th anniversary. The other 3 that left formed JYJ but are now doing solo.

not many international fans know them because back in the day kpop was not popular in the west but they were the most popular kpop group in asia around 2005-09. they sold out stadiums. and newer kpop groups still cover them to this day. you’ve probably seen covers of their songs rising sun, hug (debut song) and mirotic. you should watch the live version of tonight at their mirotic tour. it’s even better than the MV.
you should also check out whatever they say acapella, always there, kiss shita mama sayonara at saitama, hey! girl, tomorrow will come, begin at tokyo dome, and a tvxq acapella compilation here on youtube. they can sing really well even without background music while harmonizing. for the jyj group made of 3 ex-members (jaejoong, junsu, and yoochun) they have good songs like W, in heaven, and the boy’s letter

They've been killing the game for 20 years and are still active currently (three members split from the group in 2010 and did group activities as JYJ along with solo activities while the other two remained as TVXQ!). Yes finally TVXQ!!! I love them. They have such great music and such a long career. They are great famous sunbaes that a lot of younger idols look up to. I especially am a fan of Changmin's solos (Chocolate and Devil are some of my must listened to albums/songs) ❤
Side note, I know for sure I have recommended them to you before. At least in a quite recent video of yours (a Seventeen one I believe). So we have been trying to show you the light!!😅😅😅

They have acapella covers of Boyz II Men's "In The Still Of The Night", "It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday", "On Bended Knee" and "One Sweet Day" with Boa. They started as an acappella group. They have many songs recorded both with musical accompaniment and acappella. The best of them is "Whatever They Say (Acapella) MV".
Let me recommend you a Korean solo artist - K.Will who does a killer performance of the entire song "On bended knee".

I just remember why I came out hard when I started in Kpop. The groups from 1st and 2nd generation of kpop are just genius singers. Their music is so great. There are a lot of groups from the old kpop that just deserves respect for how well they do their thing.

This was such a delight to watch. As an old-school K-pop girly, these boys were my ride or dies. This came out in 2005 around the same time I first became a fan. Watching you discovering and enjoying these absolute legends (who paved and shaped K-pop in more ways than younger fans even know) tickled my soul. Subscribing. Keep it coming.

i'm a month late, but welcome to tvxq!! As others have said, debuted with 5 strong vocalists as an acapella group. IIRC, they were the strongest vocalists in SM at the time, something like that. I got into kpop in 2011 right, at the time TVXQ were THE gods of kpop (still are to me). I could go into a rant about their prowess, influence, trophies, etc. Even in recent years, they're still setting records, mostly in japan, that go unnoticed by modern kpop fans. Partially bc they're so deep into and successful in japan that they're just considered a jpop group. As if that wasn't even more impressive since they're still successful in korea, its not like they left. Currently they're only two, Yunho & Changmin. Both are solid soloists, I highly recommend both.
The other 3 created the now inactive JYJ. For reasons (SM being petty) those three were basically not allowed to promote their music. Leading Jaejoong to go to japan and realize his jrocker dreams, and Junsu to become a highly respected musical actor (with some solos too).

the group is still making music, but there's only two members now, changmin and yunho. they did a killing voice earlier this year, so that might be a good place to start if you want to hear more! but otherwise, mirotic is one of their most famous songs, and i think their most recent songs are called rebel and down. i like changmin's solo songs devil and chocolate, as well.
(i don't know all the details exactly but three of the members tried to get out of their unfair contract with sm entertainment, and eventually formed a trio called JYJ. i think there's also some controversies there, but i can't remember what happened!)

I love watching people react to Tonight lmao when I first heard it I decided then that no other vocalists would top TVXQ. They actually did boys II men Acapella covers! You should check them out! They technically split up and doing their own thing now except two who stayed but they are all so good still. I still recommend starting with more of their older stuff like Love In the Ice, Rising Sun, Wrong Number, Bolero, Why did I fall in love with you.

I think my first introduction to them was Explorers of the Human Body, which was an interesting way to meet them. 😂 Sadly they were already down to 2 before I watched it, so I missed out on those dynamics. 🤷♀️ No shade to other aspects of performance, but I prioritize vocals every time.

OMG! You found the reason I fell into the world of K-Pop and K-dramas. They opened my eyes to Asian content back in January of 2007 with their song Holding Back the Tears. Their drama “Vacation” is the reason I started watching k-dramas. They were the BTS of the 2000s. At the time they were considered the most photographed celebrities in the planet thanks to the prevalence of camera phones throughout Asia.

Check out the song bolero, that song is also wonderful and yes fall down this rabbit hole! I love them and I love that you found them and enjoyed their music! also I recommend just listening to their acapella, there's a video on youtube that is just 9 minutes of them harmonizing (including a small snippet of them covering a boys to men song)and it is all kinds of amazing.
Good songs never get old. It's great that you discovered DBSK5. They truly are the vocal gods of K-pop. But the same can be said for the three of them who left SM Entertainment and formed JYJ.
I would be happy if you could make reactions to some DBSK songs like Begin, Why Did I Fall In Love With You, Wasurenaide /all three Tokyo Dome concert/ and JYJ's In Heaven, Creation and W /A Nation/, mandatory live performances!
But if you don't want to make reactions, at least enjoy listening to them. If we're talking about vocal prowess, "W" is a vocal showcase.

I am always so ecstatic when someone new stumbles onto OT5. Their lives are on a whole different level. Like most people have suggested, Love in the Ice is a MUST. There are so many more amazing ballads, power ballads in their discography. A lot of their older songs (like Tonight) have an RnB feel to it. They also did some Boys 2 Men acapella.

I loved watching this reaction! Listen to the back catalog. For the longest time they were known as premier live singers. They were put together because they could all sing lead. They are definitely a VOCAL group in the truest sense of the word.
If I'm not mistaken, all of them play at least 1 instrument. They all sang in fluent Japanese as well. Many ppl already know the two members who stayed so I'll talk about the sued for their freedom (literally).
The pretty black hair guy going off is the gorgeous Jaejoong, who looks even better now that he did then. lol! He also has a wonderful rock voice. The deep sexy voiced guy is Yoochun. He got into a mess with false allegations bc of a chaebol...that's all I'm gonna say about that rn. The higher pitched singer is Junsu. He's an amazing musical actor. He was very instrumental in adding much more attention to the musical theater scene in South Korea.
It's good that you brought up Boyz II Men. TVXQ intentionally sang live in 5 part harmony. You're correct. They do have an intricate working knowledge of music. I think Junsu was in training since 12.
They also sing in Japanese. Try looking for the songs "Love in the Ice", "Bolero", "Begin". I remember they sang "Begin" (in Japanese) at a concert, LIVE, while exhausted, and it was STILL beautiful😭: ruclips.net/video/nJQioR697n8/видео.html

Hi Topher....I had thought you had done reactions for Love in the Air. As I think about it, I think you didn't like the way the first story started. Please give it another chance...Or at least the second main story. Fort Peat are very hot right now, most chemistry I've seen ever. They have Love Sea coming out in a month or so. First couple Boss Noeul also coming out with new series. Please watch Love in the Air.... Mame who wrote these never use main couples twice in her world cause it's all connected. Characters know each other from different series in her BL world. Why she nevers repeats actors. She made an exception for these two couples, because they were so well received. Please give them a chance, promise you will not be sorry
Honestly, the only reason I wasn't recommending TVXQ to you every day was because for some reason I assumed you must've reacted to them, what with them being vocal gods and close to SHINee.
For TVXQ, I can honestly say, just pick any song, mv or live version, ot5 or ot2. You may also want yo see something from JYJ (the 3 members who left), or solos from remaining member and maknae Max Changmin, especially 'Devil' (song from a Swedish gospel artist that Changmin wrote new lyrics for) and 'Fever' (Greatest Showman musical theatre vibes).
Edited to add: also I could suggest some SMtown collab stages with TVXQ members, like Changmin, Taeyeon and Winter's live performance of 'Priority'.

Love the reaction! If you like their vocals, I will give just two more recommendations down below to not overwhelm you 🤣TVXQ debuted as an acapella group so each of them has solid vocal skills. Their harmony as 5 is truly unbeatable. You may love their acapella collection! Unfortunately, 3 members left and TVXQ has become a duo since 2011.
Personal suggestion if you want 5 of them blasting their vocals together to create some of the best ballad performances to ever exist:

Other than Tonight which you just reacted to, I think fans would agree these two songs are their representative ballads. These two songs are in Japanese. They were known in Japan back then for emotional ballads, not just the typical powerful dance songs. :) Hope this helps.
For context, this concert at Tokyo Dome was their last concert in Japan as 5, so they were at the peak of their skills as 5 here (It's 3 years after Tonight released). After the split, each of them evolved even more. I'm sure other people have given you their recommendations.
