Everybody brought something to the group. Jin as an actor taught BTS the importance of living the song like a method actor. That's why BTS songs ring with sincerity. BTS started in the Korean music industry that had certain expectations. It is all credit to BTS how often they stepped beyond that... Jin is the BTS member who's vocal quality most appeal to Japanese audiences and I love the way he sounds in BTS' Japanese discography. It still amazes me BTS has different songs in 3 languages.

"Awake" is one of my favorite songs by Jin. He is incredibly talented and yet so humble. I can't wait for the release of his upcoming first album, which is scheduled to be released before the end of this year.
Please read Awake’s lyric translation on Doolset. Jin has writing credits. The song is about his insecurities regarding his abilities in comparison to his brothers. Through self improvement he wants to continue running/flying with the group. It’s quite a heartbreaking, vulnerable song for someone who is truly very talented.✨💜✨

Thank you for your reaction to this song. Some comments say that Jin is great in BTS' Japanese songs. I am Japanese. Many Japanese people like to express their innermost feelings through song. It is not something to express in an exaggerated or bold way, but something that just comes pouring out from his heart. Jin has a great ability to express that. I think that is one of the reasons why Jin's songs are so deeply loved in Japan and he is the only one in BTS to receive a standing ovation.

Love your reaction! Jin specifically doesn't use autotune in his songs and in his live performances. And what's even more amazing is that this was in 2016, the development in his voice now is incredible! I am just so excited when his album comes out! ❤️

Amazingly, they did not know if he could sing, as they originally recruited him for his visuals. They say he learned quickly as he had no bad habits to break and relearn as he was a fresh slate. His voice is special.
Jin is my favourite singer in BTS. His singing is straight forward nothing more or less but his vocals and voice hits you in your stomach and plays on your emotion and you really feel it!

This was the first song that made me realize that BTS songs in general, weren't just cookie cutter, but are directly from their inner dialogue. To me, he's accepting that he's 'not as good' since he came in with no singing/dancing skills, but saying he's going to keep reaching for it. I was agape.

Oh gosh, Jin's music always hit me differently! Awake was the first BTS song that made me cry, it's so hard for me to not get emotional whenever listening to it, especially whenever watching it live because Jin brings so much emotion visually too.💜🥲💜
Jin just sings so gracefully and his voice touches your soul. He has the widest range in bts and this is according to the members themselves but he doesn’t use his lower tone too often.
He adds so much emotion that makes you just lose yourself in any song.
I always feel that this song is about the tragedy of Jin feeling he is not good enough to be a member of BTS. His struggle to improve and not let the other guys down, he saw the others as all being stars, so gifted that he will never be able to match them. But he cherishes them and works his hardest to never let them down. The pain in his voice as he sings is palpable, but then he was an actor first.
Awake is one of my fave songs! Jin's voice really shined through this song.
Jins debut album is coming this year, his voice is absolutely divine he has one of the most pure, innocent, yearning, and loving vocals ever in the world- cant wait to hear a full body of work from him, it will be a once in a lifetime experience for sure

I relate to this. It’s hard to hear it knowing at one he believed it. Same reaction when Jimin sings “because I am ugly” in The Truth Untold. I want to reach into the screen and give them a hug.

I think Jin can convey the emotional aspect of a song the best as he seems to be totally immersed in songs when he sings. This is the actor in him and as he has a graduate degree and Masters in Film Art and Acting he seems to naturally express the songs he sings. James Osorio, American pianist and producer, said he would like to see Jin in musical theatre before he dies as he has the perfect voice for it. He is a great admirer of his singing. One of his earlier singing coaches said it was difficult for Jin at first because he is trained in acting vocalisation and switching to music vocalisation which is different was not easy but he worked hard and achieved it. The words of the song mean a lot to Army as he sings about how he does not feel he is as talented as the other six members. He wrote and sang it in 2016, yet even after all the fame and many accolades he has received he wrote Abyss in 2020 when he was depressed and did not feel worthy enough to receive the accolades BTS received after ‘Dynamite’. Still he keeps singing and hopefully one day he will see what we all see, that he is just as talented as the other six members.

I’ve been waiting for y’all to react to Awake!! I know that Epiphany is the most beloved song of his from ARMY but I’ve been screaming since the beginning that Awake is his best song compositionally, vocally, the emotions delivered, etc. I think this is by far his best vocal performance and it often gets overshadowed by his other tracks. But it’s so beautiful. As a classical violinist I also fell in love with this stage rendition - that initial opening is insanely beautiful and I wish it was part of the studio recording, but that’s what makes these live performances all the more special.
lol - like proud dads watching their kid 😂💜 I particularly love this song because it's about him trying to come to terms with his insecurities that he's might not be as talented or have the ability to "touch the sky" or "fly" like his 6 band mates. As Yoongi endlessly tells him, he brings something to the group that noone else can. Amongst other things, Jin's vulnerability is one of the things that makes him so endearing. 💜

Still in my Top 5 all-time BTS songs. And the lyrics are heartbreaking. Just a perfect song. After you read the lyrics, come back and watch the performance again. You will understand why he is shedding tears as the lift takes him back down, and why the only choice as a performer was to stay in character. This song is the cornerstone of the entire BTS Universe story. It explains the actions and motivations of the pivotal character he portrays. They were bewildering at the beginning of the storyline. For me, this song made the entire story come together.

Like one of their popular Run BTS show episodes, or "BTS memes to watch at 2 a.m."? It would give you a chance to learn more about their personalities, and is great fun, as well. I'm sure army have lots of suggestions, if you were so inclined. 😊

5:43 I will never understand these comments, but no worries! Of course they produce their studio versions to the max, because they wouldn't give us less than they can do and that's the only time they can do it. It's not because they need it, but because they want it. You're right, everything they present to us is intentional. But then they perform it all live plenty of times. So, we get both! All Army appreciate the live performances, but we have the studio version as well. If you pay attention, the performances change over time (for the same song), so it's even like the song is actually alive and developing! It's not just a tune pressed on a record and mindlessly repeated, but re-interpreted with every performance. Next, Nuts! Hoohoohooooo! 🎉 💜
The production in the studio (with BTS) is outstanding!! We don't mean to imply there is anything mindless happening with their artistry in the studio - our comments are intended specifically towards our opinion of over correcting the vocal performances, which is a pop style in today's market.
@@throga Sorry, I wasn't criticizing your comments, just adding to them. Just saying it's purposeful and, yes, a trend in pop, and the only time they can do this. When you watch their recording process, you can see how they try different things and keep trying until they have it how they want it. They keep being praised for being so dilligent and not stopping before they are satisfied with what they put out. But I bet you know all of this already. The comment about 'they could just re-do it until...' was just a little weird. They do! It just adds another layer. So we have no issues, because we get it all. And to see how a new song and choreo develops is always exciting! They literally keep their songs alive and breathing! That's why we must watch everything! 🤣 🥰 💜

The "redo it until..." was relevant IF they were to track it with a raw intention of vocals, as opposed to the pop standard. Please know that no insult or negative intentions are made here. Purely taste, and keeping it real with out perspective - but always with intention of respect of the boys along with the producers and engineers :)
@@throga The album comes out and it's great, but certain songs always need to grown on me! But then they start performing it and it's just on another level and also changes a lot! One of the best recent examples (for me), was RUN BTS in Busan... 🤯 💜
PS: Are you scared of Army? I hope you don't confuse solos with Army and you definitely shouldn't give in to them. You seem defensive and scared. I don't think it's needed. As long as you are respectful, you can say whatever you want. If stuff happens unreasonably, Army will defend you. We all don't like this trouble either. @@throga e.g. Jimin’s Who is very auto tuned to fun effect. And while I’ve noticed he can get pitchy live, when you watch the behind the scenes his pure vocals are fantastic. But back to Jin, while he hasn’t been a personal favorite, i’m blown away by how steady and 🎯 his vocals are. Each man has so much to love and admire!

If I remember Jin J Hope RM all had credits on this not sure of the rest I believe Hitman Bang, Slow Rabbit ... There were more I think . Hitman Bang( Bang Si Hyuk) is who started Big Hit that was the tiny verge of bankruptcy company that brought the members together. He invested rvery penny and begged and borrowed to skirt bankruptcy because of his belief in them. Big Hit grew, later became HYBE but Bang Si Hyuk( Hitman Bang) secured special independence within Hybe for BTS as Big Hit. If anything happened to Hybe Big Hit are unaffected, an independent entity and unusually for kpop the members have shares.
Forgive me if someone else mentioned it, but it must be noted that Jin was scouted off of a bus for his face, so he did not have intentions to become a singer. And he has graced us with his face, smile, gleefully goofy personality, that voice, and some really dynamic performances.
