    I think you guys were smart to keep a home base. The trend is definitely coming back around; at least on RUclips. Grandkid, kids, family, friends and doctors are definitely the top reasons to have a home base. Praying for your daughter. Yes, we are finding that we have had to duplicate quite a few items and will continue to duplicate. We’d still like to have a place in Texas and land is so expensive. We may have to consider a condo or something similar. Your condo is really nice. ❤. Be safe guys, Bill and DeAnna

    We never felt people looked down on us when they found out we still have our home. I think for most people that do sell it all, they do so to take advantage of the equity to purchase the RV of their choice, and so they don't have to worry about maintenance when they are out traveling. Like you two, all 4 of our kids (and 10 grands) live in our hometown. So we knew we would be returning frequently to be with them. After living 5 years in our RV we moved back into our home in Oct. 2023. We will be "weekend warriors" again for a while then in a few years will head out on the road again. 👍 Great video you 2.

    • @RVAmerica
      @RVAmerica  6 месяцев назад

      So I have to ask, did you rent out your home when you were on the road? Just curious. It's important to be able to return, especially when most of the kids live in the same town. Weekend warriors are great. We are out for 2 or 3 months and then back for a couple. It works great. Now we are staying until our oldest gets well. Thanks so much for sharing. 😊

      @@RVAmerica yes, we rented it to our youngest daughter & her family. We gave away a lot of our stuff, packed everything we couldn't part with and piled it all in my office in the basement. We moved into our 5th wheel and lived in it in the driveway until I retired a couple months later.

    At first we sold most everything and lived the "true" nomad lifestyle and did that for 11 years. But after a year chocked full of medical issues we have purchased a chunk of land and are putting two RV sites and a small casita to use as a home base in case these issues pop up again. All of your reasons are good ones. We think the 5 acres will suit us well for a while but I think our next step at some point will be a spot in a active adult community. Your place looks very comfortable.

    We truly thought about selling this big house since we are empty nesters and I was about to retire then go full time a few years back. The reality hit us when Mary, the other half of our team got sick and we need to stay in our area during the winter for her to receive treatment. That wouldn't have worked out if we lived in our RV as it was in the winter and most to all of the parks close in our region for the winter. That combined with the fact that we have a lot of items that we don't wish to part with which means we would need storage, another bill each month, (No Thank you). We are planning on downsizing into a smaller house and trim the fat but we need to maintain a home base!! This just works best for us!!

      I think you guys kind of have the same philosophy that we do. We downsized to a much smaller home and trimmed the fat as you said. Excellent video and we agree for all the exact same reasons! First awesome thumbnail love it!! Congratulations on the 10 thats so wonderful!! Your daughter ia so pretty she looks juat like you Lynn. Love love love the condo it is perfect its a lot like Rons sisters. Your master bath is fantastic for a small condo and the pantry is amazing. This is what i am trying tot gwt Ron to do in the next 3 to 5 years I want to get rid of our 2 story and downsize to a smaller single level.home. we will always have a home base we dont have to sell to live the RV life and we only see positives in having both especially we also think at some point you are going to want or have to go back to a sticks and bricks home and they arent going to get cheaper 10 or 20 years of rving so why not keep a house u own and an RV is majorly going to depreciate and it will be more difficult to do all that RV work and living in your 80s and 90s. Anyway love what you did and this was a well said video!!

      Well you probably heard us joking that I am retired I quit 2 years ago Covid brought out the worse in some folks and I left my company of 11 years and was going to work part time until Ron retires he has a little over 6 years to go but it has been very nice having me available to take care of everything at home so far. Ron has been a railroad engineer for over 25 years so he does get a lot of time off so that may make it seem like we are retired. He does have some very busy weeks that with you tubing he does put in an occasional 60 hour week too. 6 years big celebration!!!!

    Didn't know people criticise you if you are not a full time RV. That's weird. RVs don't do well in the winter. Staying in Florida, Arizona or California is getting extremely expensive now to escape Winter. Gas and maintenance on the RV is something to think about. Home base away from those states are cheaper. Also it breaks the road fatigue.

    • @RVAmerica
      @RVAmerica  6 месяцев назад

    I think RVers need a home. base but it does not even need to be as big as yours and it could be just a parking spot with electricity and a dump area, but with the CV year a lot of RVers were stuck with no where t camp like you mentioned and that made me think a home base is essential not a luxury

    We are in the preparing for full time process and what to do with our house is one of the things we struggle with. Do you have to put your RV in storage when you are home for even short periods of time? If we had to do that we would have to pay for year round storage to secure a spot.

    • @RVAmerica
      @RVAmerica  6 месяцев назад +1

      We do, however, we feel like we found a very reasonable place. We also have to pay for year-round storage. In the 1st 2 years, we had a friend who let us store it at his home. The cost of homes has gone up so much, in the area that we live in, that we would really could not afford to purchase a home now. They have almost doubled from what we paid for this one. It's definitely a big decision. Great question. Thanks for watching. 😊
