I've got an '03 and on a recent trip, I noticed a clunk on rapid acceleration from a stop. Thought it might be a transmission problem. Your video gave me hope so I'll replace the mount regardless as they all have a defined life expectancy. 215k miles!

I think that "Odyssey" is a real funny name for a car because "Odyssey" means: travel associated with many obstacles 😁. Anyhow, nice vid and interesting.

never had problems with the motor mounts on our odessey but did have a coolant leak from the eng block near the themostat which had barely enough room to squeeze in there to fix so i know exactly what you mean.... good job

Sure wish you'd shown how you actually got it out. The driver's side bracket bolt is driving me absolutely nuts. I can get to it from underneath, but even with all the rest of the bolts out I can't get a socket on it and the wrench just doesn't provide enough torque to bust it lose. May I ask you to share how you got that little devil off, please? Thanks for the video!

In idle, vacuum is applied to the mounts which makes them softer, thus you feel less of the engine. That is not necessary as soon as the engine is revving higher.

    • @michaelXXLF
      @michaelXXLF 5 лет назад

      Immagine a football and a half-limp football.
The mount is a hollow rubber ball with a certain rigidity that can take harder impacts from the engine like a jolt at sudden deceleration.
Idle revs have been greatly reduced in the last 20 years. 1000/min used to be a normal idle for a 4-cylinder car, today it is around 700/min. That saves a lot of gas but creates a very "un-smoothly" running engine. Thus the need for a soft engine mount at idle.

I’ve 2004 Odyssey, I started to feel little bit vibration while the car is idling, replaced the spark plugs but it seems the engine mount, do I need to change all mounts?

Just had a guy put new control arms and KYB strut assemblies on my wife’s 2006 Odyssey. Was wonderful after it was done then the wife was pulling into a gas station at night and hit the curb hard I guess with the right front tire which messed up the bottom of the fender by putting a dent in it and even put a crack down the middle of the windshield. Alignment shop guy says it looks like when he had a guy get in it and put the brake on and give it a bit of gas that the passenger side motor mount is bad because now the front end feel loose and makes noise. So does this sound like that’s the mount to order? I’ll check it myself today and take off the engine cover if that will help me see. But he said the motor raided up on the passenger side when they tested it. They wife keeps me busy on body work and think she needs to get her cataract eye surgery before she drives anymore.

I'm thinking maybe ---I hope I have a bad motor mount. Because if it's not the motor mount that I've got a major transmission issue. It vibrates terribly into 3rd gear. Is also makes a clunk noise into 2nd and 3rd. So I drive it very softly and slow.
If I push it hard will bump bump bump terribly.
It's got a 135,000 miles and I know the seller told me he hasn't touched the vehicle for 5 years and I'm sure the trans fluid is bad so I'm going to do four flushes.
I did the first flush using the recommended Valvoline synthetic.
    Any help out there

I am 1 min from installing front motor mount. 2001 odyssey. Top right already replaced two days ago. On highway at 60 mph when lifting off accelerator the van veers right after about 3/4 of a second. When accelerator is pushed down. The van comes back to the left.
Tires have even wear. Any ideas?

Cradle shift , ball joints or tie rods. Track shifting . Not engine.

@@2stroketurbo yesterday finished installing front and top passenger mount. Squirrely. Still clunk front left, maybe under foot on accelerating from stop.
On highway ,lift off accelerator, a slight pause then van veers right. The thing i noticed today. As the van is moving right. The steering wheel ticks to the left. Then acceleration brings it back left.
      Front brakes are not sticking.
I did remove the cradle 4 years ago when I rebuilt the tranny. I did replace all rubber suspension pieces at that time. Except for front motor mount. 135,000 miles
Then gave it to my nephew and he took it out of state. Came back with 191,000 and gave it back to me. He just replaced front struts and springs.
Both tie-rods have just tiny bit of movement. I think inner tie-rod movement.
Lower control trol arm bushings look ok.
I will be checking alignment with strings next.
But something shifting seems likely. That's difficult to check. It may be time to get a go-pro

So I just replaced both sides inner and outer tie-rods.
And still have movement and clunking.
It turns out the lower control arm horizontal bushing is clunking when grabbing left and right side of tire and torquinig it back and forth.
If I had a helper from the beginning. It would have saved a lot of time:(
I removed the bolt and rotated the lower control arm out.
The bushing looks fine. But the bolt is very loose when slid back into the bushing.
This is where all the play and knocking is coming from.
Should there be a brass sleeve inside the bushing?
