He's got a boxing coach as his main/only striking coach - Javi Climent (who is NOT related to his head coaches and MMA gym owners Jorge and Augustin, just pure coincidence of name). Javi is a boxing gym trainer. So while most MMA fighters have a mma kickboxing coach, then a mma boxing coach, or a mma muay thai coach, he doesn't - he just has a pure boxing coach who prepares other boxers. Think Jorge and Augustin handle anything "mma" like kicks, grappling, wrestling etc.
I think this is the intensity you need to spar at to become a champion but it depends from person to person Gabriel, I honestly do sparring sessions that are 5% lighter than this but our coach always tells us to go lighter to the head so we do not get concussed and overall this is such an amazing episode keep up the great work! 🎉

That's his local gym in spain. When he's in camp Topuria brings people from outside to spar like Merab Dvalashvili or Guram Kutateladze. There are a couple of guys that can spar with him in his local gym like Pepe Torres or Daniel Richardson, but the rest are just not at his level so he drops everybody. I don't know Gabriel, if you're a fighter and your sparring reel is all about you dropping your partners with headshots with small gloves on, I feel very uncomfortable about the kind of person you are. Yes, he's technically incredible, but that level of disregard for your partner's brain health? Not a fan, at all.
That's what's recorded, he might only post the hard sparring, but might be doing more light sparring of camera, that might not reflect the way he spars all the time, but maybe he is only post 50% to 30% of his sparring and posting only the hard stuff might be way to build his image as this terminator, just a theory of mine too, but i get your point
Truth is you can't become world champion just with light sparring. When you're fighting in the highest level, you have to have some sparring that is like a simulation of a real fight, with real power aiming to drop your opponent... my question is if these guys walking in the cage with beasts like Topuria are prepared and know he'll go 100%. Maybe sometimes they "forget" to tell them because otherwise he would find no opponent...
I understand that sometimes, especially if you’re prepping for a match, you might want to go sparring rounds that are a lot harder than usual. But I don’t understand what a fighter at his level gains from wrecking sparring partners who aren’t close to him. As some of them didn’t seem. If you’re not being challenged, and you’re still dropping your partners with light concussions and liver shots… I don’t get how that advances your training? Just my reaction. Cheers
You're not the only one with this opinion. People keep saying "you dont get anywhere with light sparring blah blah" you also dont get anywhere destroying dudes not on your level
Can you explain how he doesn’t get hit with knees, head kicks, clinched, takedowns because generally that type of head movement and dropping hands can be dangerous for kickboxing and MMA.

He leans too much to the sides only relaying on hip and head movements. He barely moves when he receives jabs. The mid section is slightly uncovered and is prone to not react to front kicks to the face. After his 1-2 he left his right hand is a bit lower (in one of his fights he received a kick to the head because of this). If he faces a counter striker that manages a different distance than the boxing range and doesn’t fall into a brawl or even someone like mahkachev that uses a different range he is going to get into trouble because of all his holes that he is unlikely to change at this point.
