They are originally from Seattle, and I saw them open for Sunny Day Real Estate at the UW HUB in the late 90's. They are one band that definitely had to toil away for many years to gain the recognition and status they enjoy today. It is gratifying to see many years of dedication and hard work be rewarded. Music is often political and I'm proud they have the courage to express what they are passionate about. I don't know the individuals that make up DCFC personally, but have seen them perform at very small modest venues and they are good hard working people and patriotic Americans. I think they chose to make it so obvious because it is part of "30 songs in 30 days" specifically speaking out against Trump. They want everyone to know that the reason they wrote this song was to fight Trump and what he stands for. Under normal circumstances, I would agree with you though.
i love that they did. they're bold, stating a major pokitical issue because it's nothing more than plain necessary. they're not some commercial product, they're artists who have something to say.

Whether you like Trump or Clinton.. or whether you like DCFC or not is completely irrelevant. This is a good song.. Its catchy well written, with clever lyrics and great instrumentation and production. If you are a trump supporter you are a moron, sure. Ben Gibbard is actually one of the best songwriters of this generation, sure. But more than that, there is absolutely no reason why anyone, especially trump supporters should get angry about this song. Why? because it speaks the truth. It references something that the man actually said. It doesn't go against any of his policies or plans. It doesn't attack anything to do with his campaign. It simply addresses who he so clearly is a person. Does that affect his political campaign overall? Yes, of course it should. But hopefully it already did when he originally made those comments the first time.

This song is a masterclass of passive aggression. Writing from Trump's head, the naked disdain comes off as half-sarcasm, half pity. Death Cab for Cutie is entirely too empathetic for their own good.
I don't see the issue here. These artists are just making a statement. Art is all about speaking your mind. It is not like once you start making money as an artist you are not allowed to say anything. Benjamin just said what he wanted about a person. He didn't hurt anyone, he didn't mention politics, and he didn't side with anything. Just let him speak his mind with his skill and power.

The best part to me is that this is perfect criticism that I could see coming from someone who supported him, but still found valid criticism for a flawed man. Even if you support someone, it can be important to criticize them if they make potentially harmful mistakes.

2-lack of evidence to convince the jury of rape but still plead guilty to molestation. (The forensic analyst lost the evidence like retards)
