We too in 1985 and such a privelege. Ten days walking from Lamayuru monastery to Padum with a wonderful pony man to carry our luggage on his animals and who directed us and was waiting with tea and tsampa at the end of each day. Four very high passes, camping only option and near zero population and we were seven kilos lighter when we reached Padum. Over a lifetime of epic journeys in 89 countries this trip was equal among the three best.
Stunning episode…..almost speechless! Wonder where the 1.4 BILLION people are….certainly not in Zanskar region. Take care Noraly, ride safe. From Cambridge UK🇬🇧
Only cities and villages are densely populated and do you know India is 7 th largest nation in the world? We have nearly 40% land area is empty occupied by mountain, desert, forest etc..
Gama is the name of a guy, who was climbing in the mountains and Lama stands for the gods of the mountains. So, it means, don't underestimate the mountains like this guy! Have good journey! You're the best!🙋🏻♀
Anyone reading this, if you visit india or are an indian i highly recommend doing the Kishtwar-Killar route part of which is known as the Cliffhanger section, probably the worlds most fangerous route. Go from Srinagar to Kishtwar via Sinthan Top (beautiful route) and then from Kishtwar to Killar and from Killar to Dalhousie via the Sach pass. Incredible views, very tough and extremely satisfying for a biker.
I'd never thought that my country has places like this. The landscape of Zanskar is so alien to me. Extremely ruggedly beautiful. Good Lord! Every now and then, Noraly puts up video like this one that stands miles above any other motorcycle adventure videos I’ve ever seen. It’s amazing just to know she out there doing this! Thank you!
Great video, beautiful shoots and great filming I cycled from Leh to Srinagar in spring 1984 (actually I cycled from Calcutta to Nepal and then to Leh via Himachal Pradesh etc. over 1 year), when there was no road to Manali or to Zankar yet, and NO black top road from Leh to Srinagar and NO traffic, except a few army trucks once a day. It was the most beautiful, peaceful cycle ride one can imagine. Watching your video, times have changed for sure!
Those roads are an engineering marvel that we take for granted. For example besides all the blasting that must have been done to cut that road through the mountains, where did they get all that asphalt for those beautiful stretches of road? Thank you once again Noraly, for taking us along on such a spectacular beautiful ride. P.S. Your drone footage is amazing!
Bill These asphalted roads are newly done due to the PLA incursion into India by Indian Army's border roads organization. Its among the highest battlefields on earth and they have army folks stationed through out the year and even when the temps go negative 30 or 40 C.

Noraly sure knows how to pick some spectacular roads to ride on!!!! I am just amazed not only at how good most of the roads are, but the effort needed to make and maintain them!!!!
these roads r made and maintained by B.R.O ( border road org.) who made a world record by building "UMLINGLA PASS" the highest motorable road in the world at 19300 ft. above sea level .
It was a wise choice to take on this last 50 when you're fresh. The rockslides can be debilitating and the random takes on drainage problems on the roadways can lead to crashes. Gotta protect those mirrors... Your drone shots show just how small and insignificant we are in this world we live on... keep on keeping on!
I found this channel almost 5 yrs ago and since then I am so lucky to may watch such an extraordinary biker-girl in the world! Very often my jaws fall down by surprise. Oscar deserved!
If riding it looks scary and tough...imagine the men who built these roads on those heights, harsh weather, thin air, inhospitable terrains and with tools and machinery which are difficult to operate at that height. SALUTE to them!

As barren, desloate, arid as it is, I have been struck by its beauty which Noraly has managed to capture so well in her videos. I am in awe of her skills. I am looking forward to the rest of this adventure.
In a area of a vast population our Noraly finds solitude and in meeting locals she finds a wealth of kindness . The animal species and mammals are the desserts. What a great place to ride.
When you can see that it is very steep on the video you know that it is actually 2x steeper than it looks. Impressive riding skills, especially on extremely steep downhills with rough terrain.
Absolutely awesome scenery. I cannot get over the passes and roads you are travelling through .I am in awe of what people can achieve. All those passes would have been cut by hand originally.. Just amazing ..More please 🙏. Keep xafe
The scenery is so spectacular it's a wonder that Noraly can remember to stop and fly the drone for those impressive aerial shots. I'm also impressed that the locals bother to pave portions of those mountain roads with so little vehicular traffic. And you have to wonder how they get those excavators up there to maintain the dirt portions. Most of those crawler rigs only have a top speed of 4 miles per hour.
This is a key road that connects Kargil which houses a strategic army garrison. Without this road, during the winters, kargil can be cut off and overrun by the Chinese or the Pakistanis.
Basan2 running like a champ! So scenic! WOW! Super steep, because even the Go Pro didn't flatten it out. The pinnacles were pretty awesome. Thanks, Noraly!

I did the same in 1991. Out of interest, what are the other two out of your best three?
Glad to hear, so many people seems to ladakh my hometown 😊
Stunning episode…..almost speechless! Wonder where the 1.4 BILLION people are….certainly not in Zanskar region.
Take care Noraly, ride safe. From Cambridge UK🇬🇧
Only cities and villages are densely populated and do you know India is 7 th largest nation in the world? We have nearly 40% land area is empty occupied by mountain, desert, forest etc..
1.5 billion people are busy in there daily grind
And 1/5th of those 1.45 billion people live in couple of states only. 😂
India itself is mini world 🌎
About 2 million of those are in UK only... Just look around and you'll find plenty of them already! 😂
How beautiful India is! Thank you for all your talent to show us so many beautiful wonderful places in the world! 🧡
Are you an Indian?
Gama is the name of a guy, who was climbing in the mountains and Lama stands for the gods of the mountains. So, it means, don't underestimate the mountains like this guy! Have good journey! You're the best!🙋🏻♀
My family and I have just been in awe of this India series. It’s quickly becoming one of our favorites 🇮🇳❤️ Thank you, Noraly
Visit India. Come to rishikesh for spiritual tour and visit Himalayas
@@SatishKushwaha-tc2jino to crowded place sorry only visit nature.
Thank you Noraly for showing how beautiful India is 🇮🇳
Anyone reading this, if you visit india or are an indian i highly recommend doing the Kishtwar-Killar route part of which is known as the Cliffhanger section, probably the worlds most fangerous route. Go from Srinagar to Kishtwar via Sinthan Top (beautiful route) and then from Kishtwar to Killar and from Killar to Dalhousie via the Sach pass. Incredible views, very tough and extremely satisfying for a biker.
Stunning scenery. Goes to show you don't need a heavy GS or AT, this new RE Himalayan is a perfect capable machine.
It's true you don't need a big GS but I have no problem picking mine up. But at 6'3" and 18 stone it's also the smallest bike I own. 🤣
well done.@@MrAlan7269
Kudos to Indian authorities for maintaining connectivity to such remote areas! Vibrant cultures of India! 🇮🇳❤
I'd never thought that my country has places like this. The landscape of Zanskar is so alien to me. Extremely ruggedly beautiful. Your videos need to be made into a documentary, especially for Indians to see our land like never before. What a terrific video this is! Thanks so much Noraly for showing us these places. And the Himalayan seems to be living up to its name very well
lol, you need to grow up soon and travel. They're even more amazing places that this in India

Now it's time for a Motorbike ride...
Salute to you.❤
Those roads are an engineering marvel that we take for granted.
@@jspillai1869 I suspected there was a military need and backing behind it. There is another mountain road in Romania like that built for defense, the Transfagarasan mountain road built in the 1970s by Ceausescu to try to repel a possible Soviet invasion.
@@billwebb8561It's for military mostly
india needs to watch it's back, Chinese government is great at land grabbing.
Also Some roads are capable of landing small fighter jets for obvious reasons, If any provocation from Chinese side happens.
@@billwebb8561 BRO develops and maintains road networks in India's border areas and friendly neighboring countries. Most of the roads in the sparsely populated himalayan regions are maintained by BRO(plowing the snow etc) But not all of them are built by BRO. "Oh this is the best day ever"! Love Love to hear Noraly so happy. I can't help but try to put myself in place of Noraly's parents watching these videos. I'm sure they have come to expect anything but they have to be pinching themselves saying look that's our daughter, a legend in her own time, bringing so much joy to the world. The video was another masterpiece throughout. The drone zoom out in the canyon was absolutely phenomenal. Thank you Noraly. Peace! ❤❤❤ PS I love it when you talk to the animals. I do the same thing.
Oddly enought I was thinking of Noraly's parents too while watching this video. They must be so proud of what their now-famous daughter has accomplished. And oh, the anxiety they must have shared with all of us when she gets into sticky situations in the jungles and deserts in the remote corners of our planet.
What a stunning route! I can see why you wanted to come back. Another part of the world that most of us will never see in person. Thank you for sharing this with us.
As a father it gives me the creeps seeing you riding across those mountain roads.
As a fan I consider you the Jacque Cousteau of the land. As you show us the wonders of nature along your way, it's also beautiful to see how the people always find their way to fit in that nature even at places one wouldn't expect them. Thank you for all this. Een echte Nederlandse globetrotter!👍
No one takes these challenges of adventure motorcycle riding like Noraly and present them to us vividly like this.
I did this route 6 weeks ago, one of the greatest rides I’ve ever done.
Thank you, Ms. Boots, for showing us who can't travel all the wonderful places in the world!
As a dude stuck on riding around the terrible concrete jungle called metro manila, I love watching your adventures. The scenery there is just spectacular, something that every city dweller would surely love to experience, I know I would. ❤ Thanks for taking us on your trips😊

We live on a really cool planet. Thank you for showing it to us in all its glory, Noraly! 😃
These landscapes and locations are extraordinary! And I am quite amazed at your courage to go to these places alone on a bike. Really amazing stuff and truly inspiring.
It’s so cool to see you back on a Himalayan IN the Himalayas. The breakfast with the home stay family, the long climb and descent through the arid mountains, and your commentary meld together and provide a wonderful escape from the onslaught of news of a world on-edge. Itchy Boots as emotional support services 😊
Not to mention that the tank graphic is the Himalaya Mountains.
All the years of watching your journeys, and I'm always amazed at your ability to eat the local cuisine. From camel meat to yak butter. You have a fearless palette. Best wishes Noraly 😊
And also insects
India is beautiful.....what an adventure...be safe and ride on
Dear Itchy Boots, you make riding those terrible steep, narrow and slippery, roads, look so easy. Stay safe. Thanks for opening up these amazing places to us who will never visit them.
It looks way more dangerous and steep through a camera less bcs of the angle. Although not that simple, But it's relatively easier in reality!!

Incredible. Views, people, routes. Thanks to your videos, Noraly, my plan for the motorcycle trip of a lifetime has changed. I hope that one day I will be able to implement this plan. Best regards from Poland.
I have no adjectives to describe the scenery! Another phenomenal ride with the Queen of the trails and roads:).
phenomenal ?
Noraly sure knows how to pick some spectacular roads to ride on!!!! I am just amazed not only at how good most of the roads are, but the effort needed to make and maintain them!!!!
these roads r made and maintained by B.R.O ( border road org.) who made a world record by building "UMLINGLA PASS" the highest motorable road in the world at 19300 ft. above sea level .
WHAT A RIDE!!!!! Incredible scenery.
Amazing roads 🛣️ Thanks to Border road organisation for the splendid roads ❤🇮🇳
I think this one , South Africa and Namibia must be my favourite videos, its just so beautiful . Thanks Noraly for showing us different places of India and surrounding. I've been to many parts of India , but not these parts.

@@africo9104 you said you been to many parts of India. I asked what are the place you visited?
Yes. I've been to most parts of India twice travelling on trains and buses.
Unfortunately I never made it to Ladakh😮
It snowed there for 12 days and as I was going to fly up there all flights were cancelled .
I found India exhilarating and exiting except for Goa, which I didn't like at all.
I agree Noraly, a person should always have enough flexibility in their travel schedule and life to say “yes”… just in case you are invited to a wedding. 😉 The morning light in the river canons was so stunning even in video cameras. It must have been so amazing in person. A truly incredible place.

Such rugged terrain. I understand your passion for geological features. There is so much to see along the valley. The motorcycle is certainly up to the task. Thank you for taking us on this incredible journey.
It's easy to see why Zanskar is one of your favorite places. I smiled throughout this video, and once again was mesmerized by the fantastical, otherworldly beauty of the mountains, the gorge and valley. Your drone footage as always, was stunning! I can hardly wait to see Kashmir. Safe travels!

Remember, Last time in India when you were riding from Coochbehar to Tura, Meghalaya. You took the wrong road and end up at Brahmaputra River near Dhubri. So what they meant is dont try to become hero or arrogant in the land of Lama.
BTW really Love your Videos and i eagerly wait for your videos to come on YT.
Thanks for sharing the journey with us.
I am happy to see that Itchy Boots found some unpaved roads where her spirit soars and she is in her happy place.
Absolutely awesome Noraly. The vision of the Himalia's is absolutely fantastic. Such a remarkable scenery and wild mountain formations is incredible. I love the way you mix motorbike riding with geology. Many thanks.
I truly love Noraly's adventures. I also love India, which I have been lucky to visit many times but never to this region.
They carry the crawler on trucks.
Absolutely stunning scenery! Wow!! And what an amazing road. Not many people would feel the exhilaration of being totally alone in that environment, but I felt it through you!!
