    Thank you Marc for this. Very easy to follow and to learn with this format.
    This song is one of the most beautiful of their all discography. There is a timeless elegance in the chord progression, the orchestration. It also features the most emotional guitar solo of any of their songs in my opinion.

    That's quite a number to sing
    Spot lit getting lowered in
    Can you co-direct and play the twins?
    And adapt the main theme for mandolins?
    I've conjured up wonderful things
    The ballad of what could've been
    Over and out
    It's been a thrill
    I had big ideas, the band was so excited
    The kind you'd rather not share over the phone
    But now the orchestra's got us all surrounded
    And I cannot for the life of me remember how they go
    Co-ordinated release
    Nationwide festivities
    We had 'em out of their seats
    Waving their arms and stomping their feet
    Some were just hysterical scenes
    The ballad of what could've been
    Over and out
    Really it's been a thrill
    I had big ideas, the band was so excited
    The kind you'd rather not share over the phone
    But now the orchestra's got us all surrounded
    And I cannot for the life of me remember how they go
    I just can't for the life of me remember how they go

    i ve no idea how to play music, but as all of you the last part of this song makes me fly, i am waiting till my 60s (bacause i am studing deep learning now) to start with piano, and i wonder if can i use my left hand to play string part and my right hand to main line?
    thnks for all

    • @genkoBA

      can i use a digital piano or something like this?

    • @3minuteswithMarc
      @3minuteswithMarc  Год назад +1

      cheers! Yeah I think you can about that multiple ways, for example some keyboards allow you to split the sound between left and right (e.g. play a violin sound on the left, and piano sound on the right). Or you can also multi-track, like record the violin part and then on-top of that play the piano part

    • @genkoBA
      @genkoBA Год назад

      @@3minuteswithMarc great thanks 4 anwer
      Trying the split aprouch, how difficult could be? What keyboard can use this feature?
      What keyboard can y choose to start With (With split method or without if it is difficult

    • @3minuteswithMarc
      @3minuteswithMarc  Год назад

      @@genkoBA Hmm I think many keyboards can, but you will be able to see that on the keyboard features. Doing the exact replication would be very difficult and might not even sound good, but making an arrangement to approximately get the overall harmonies could work

    Great videos, is there a reason why you don't line up the 2 pianos?

    • @3minuteswithMarc
      @3minuteswithMarc  Год назад +1

      Thank you!! Kind of a technical constraint, I keep the images consistent across each vid, but when filming the piano I change the zoom/angle depending on the song and sometimes it doesn't align with the image

    How would you explain the Fdim chord in this song? Is it an example of modal mixture, secondary diminished, or something else entirely? I am really struggling to figure out how it's functioning in a song that seems to be in Am.

    • @3minuteswithMarc
      @3minuteswithMarc  2 года назад +3

      Hmm if you look at it as Fdim7, I think that chord progression has been used before (in the reverse order) by Alex, for example in Sweet Dream TN or in Four out of Five, but it's definitely an interesting one!
