Thank you very much Mr. Russell, I wanted to make my own wooden and iron chairs covered with synthetic leather but the idea of nailing the staples by hand had me discouraged, and I had already made the table!... I took up the idea again and saw that they sell this tool here and I got my spirits back thanks to his very detailed explanations. Greetings from Paraguay.
Thank you so much. I was considering a nail gun then found my stapler. Now I don't have to make a new purchase and you've explained everything I need to know about my TRE500!!
Thank you so much for the perfect and thorough tutorial using this electric nail and staple gun you're the best! I'm a woman and I need detailed information and I'm so happy that I ran across your video 🙏😇😊
So very glad yours is giving you good service. I just bought one today to put in some insulation. I haven't even gone through a whole stick of 5/16" staples, and this Stanley anti-jam staple gun is already not firing staples. So...back to the hardware store tomorrow.
Thanks for review and showing us the ins and outs of the Stanley electric staple gun, my old one hardly takes any staples so am constantly refilling and had enough of that so ordered this Stanley one, shame it doesn't supply any staples so will order some, should be ideal for my upholstery project. Well explained down to earth with no pontificating, great review!
Thank you so much! I have had this same staple gun for years and couldn't get it to work. I was loading the brads and staples incorrectly. I am so happy!!! I'm going on a stapling rampage around my house right now😂
G'day Russell, Your video is top sort and filled in the gaps that the Stanley instructions failed to cover. Betweenfig. 3 and 4 they neglected to show the dropping in of the staples into the trench that reveals itself after the retaining clip is pulled out. I've never used one of these type of staplers before and my experience is to slide in the clip of staples ahead of the ram rod. I had only just bought one today and you are a life saver ! Especially where you explain what power settings were useful and the absolute need to plant the gun firmly against the wood at the proper angle. Even so, I made a few poor staplings, but, no worries, I had your admonition in mind. Good show !
Thanks for this great demo, Russell. I just bought one of these things, and the manual that came with it was utterly useless. Thanks to you, I now how to get the most out of this tool.
Brother, thank you so very much for putting this up here. It is extremely useful and I’m just very grateful, especially today. I hope you and yours had a very merry Christmas.
Thank you for this review & helpful tips on this stapler. I've always had issues with the brads, & my staples never went flush to the wood. Any way Best Review ever!!!!! ❤❤
Thanks for the Demo Russell. I've had one of these that was in a box filled with items mostly returns that I got at auction for $6.28 and thought I'd try it out and it had staples in it and I wanted to see it shoot the brads so I got on youtube and there you were. I was surprised at how well it works. I have every type of nail gun you could imagine from 23 gauge pin nailers to a monster 9ga. 2" fencing stapler and every size flooring gun and framing guns to several metal connector, roofing, fencing, and finishing guns of every gauge size. And this one just amazes me because I don't have to hook it up to one of the compressors. This is something I would only use to reupholster cushions, repair picture frames and small stuff. I see you have quite the nail gun and tool collection also. Cheers Russell.
Thank you Russell. I bought one of these about two months ago and just opened it today. I am renovating a rocking chair (new upholstery etc) and my manual stapler was killing me. Too many staples to do and my hands are not as strong as they used to be. So thank you, it doesn't look as intimidating as I though it would be. Great video! Greetings from Canada. Oh yes, the manual is useless. The print is tiny and faint.
Thanks Russell for demonstrating! Olga, I’m planning to renovating my rocking chair too! Thinking of which staple gun should I get so ended up watching this video haha. Did you get Stanley tre550? How’s it?
@@alisonfong6496 Hello Alison, I ended up using a hand held (not electric) staple gun (Stanley) for my chair, because I wasn't able to balance the electric one on narrow edges of the rocking chair. It is a very old rocking chair and the frame of the seat and back are narrow. There was no place, not enough space to balance the entire length of the electric stapler. The staples were not coming out straight, they were coming out at an angle and crooked or not at all. I was able to balance my old staple gun (not electric) better. I took it apart, oiled it and it was easier to use than it had been for a long time. Otherwise, I don't regret buying the electric one. It works well on other projects than the old rocking chair. Good luck! By the way, my rocking chair looks fantastic! I worked very hard, watched dozens of videos and my hard work and determination paid off! My son will be very happy. The chair was given to him in a terrible state: broken, neglected for years. It is about, at least, 100 years old. I am quite proud of myself, if I may say so myself. So, good luck to you Alison. Greetings from Canada.
I have a piece of trim (corner mold) above my son's closet that has come loose. I was looking at air nailers for using brads in and then I got a Stanley electric stapler like yours from my father in law. I appreciate your review because it had no manual and I needed to figure out to use the brads. This will have considerably as I have 9' ceilings and won't have to drag around an air hose and run the compressor inside.
Thank you I never use the Brad and this machine is different than my other one which I’m giving to my son and I had no paperwork and I had no idea how to use it
Thanks Russell. I bought a while ago on moving to a new house. About to use tomorrow.nLove upcycling + general DIYY + repair...saved me time on how to load + max/min pressure etc., use of non-stanley staples as no Brad's or staples provided. Atypical DIYer. I think everyone should have a go at DIY, you never know when you might need to use some of the skills you pick up along the way Julie. First of all though, you should be very proud of yourself! Helping people and taking care of them in their time of need is a wonderful thing to do! Thank you! I am helping my daughter set up a reading corner for her first classroom (degree teacher) and I am so proud of her too! I bought her a tool kit for Christmas a few years ago and she used it last week for a small assembly job in her new flat! I have always told her that it is important to be able to do things for herself. Mind you, I love it when I hear Daaaaad? LOL
Thank you Russel for the EXCELLENT review. You took time and effort to describe drive-force settings by holding firm and pressing down, comparing soft and hard woods and of course use of staples and brads, referring to their sizes and specifications. This comprehensive review doesn't need any improvement. I score you 11/10. Best wishes. - a DIY enthusiast in the UK.
Nice up load When I got mine I turned the + and the - but found it just keeps turning so not sure what max and min is ??? Its also not clear which way is plus and which way is minus as the arrows are the same for both ??? Or is it just me being thick ????????
The dial turns either way. There is an arrow moulded on to the gun next to the dial. If the + mark is on the arrow, the gun is set to maximum, if the - sign is on the arrow it is minimum. If you turn the dial in either direction, the power will be reduced or increased. The arrow is the datum point and where it is pointing to on the line between the + and - signs is the power setting. I hope I have explained it adequately Allan, it is a little difficult to explain without actually showing you! :-)
I borrowed one of these to staple some loose carpet down, but the thickness of the carpet prevented the safety switch from depressing enough to fire the stapler. Good stapler otherwise, but FYI for anyone buying one to use on carpet.
I bought mine at Home Depot 2 years ago to recreate our new music studio from studs and ceiling joists. This product worked like a charm with 9/26mm staples. The stapling took but one day. I had not touched it since. Spent one afternoon to attach fabric to a friend’s Newly created rehearsal studio and the once used almost new unit was dead. I understand that this model has been the Bain of Stanley’s tools. So, I am not recommending this model TR550Z.
@@RussellPlatten Thanks very very much, Russell. Guess I'll write that off. I have some aluminum patio chairs that the webbing which was attached by heavy duty staples has deteriorated on. They must have used an industrial stapler.
