I had finished traveling for school and started back working at my old job as a guard at a bar. My wife started working there when I came back and I instantly knew I wanted to be with her. If you don't know any other Asian language it's gonna take you more time than if you learn a Roman language (like Spanish, Italian etc.) And being immersed in the language makes the progress faster It just needs some time, you can do it :)
hey, that's a start. every time someone tells me that learning korean, japanese, chinese, etc. is hard, i ask them if they learned the alphabets. they usually say no. you are 10 steps ahead of most people. i learned korean as a second language because i'm korean american. sure, i was given a cheat with my parents constantly speaking with me and little toddler me just replied with the basics. but as i became more and more fluent with english, it got confusing. at the age of 6, we moved to korea and i lived there briefly(2 and a half years). at the time, i didn't know how to read even my own name. i slowly got the hang of it and by the time i came back, i knew every way to spell and catch myself whenever i'm about to spell something wrong. while it is true that i physically lived in korea, if i wasn't able to read/write in korean, i would not have been able to pronounce the words properly nor would i have the vocabulary down. i guess the next logical step in your progress is to learn how to ask what something is called. it could be as simple as "what is _____?" or even "what is (english word) in korean?" and always write it down in korean with the meaning in english and write a word in english and write the description of that in korean. to advance your skills, do a tongue twister everyday consisting of double korean consonants. the difference between b and bb in korean is commonly mistaken as b and p but korean already has p. instead, it's a difference of bubble and puppy. the pp in puppy is bb in korean and bb in bubble is b in korean. this will prevent you from being "that foreigner" because you will be able tell the difference between room and bread in korean. b a ng vs bb a ng/pp a ng. currently, i am trying to learn japanese. it's hard to find someone who speaks it here in georgia... but i can read the writing systems plus a few common kanji. that's a start.
I think Jangmin tried to answer this, but it got cut short, but if you're lonely, you have to learn to be comfortable with yourself first and learn to love yourself, because a relationship won't fix that, if anything, it can make you feel more lonely. For example, if they are not by your side all the time, you would feel more lonely than if you were single, of if you were supposed to do something together, and then she suddenly cannot make it, and you end up doing that thing by yourself, you're going to feel even more lonely or even feel betrayed than if you were single.
Oof this is true with even me and my friends. I was almost less lonely when I didn’t have my current friend group. Now I just keep getting heart-wrenchingly jealous every time they do stuff without me

I think it’s important to note that when it comes to accepting someone else’s negatives, it doesn’t mean to ignore them and pretend they aren’t there. It’s more about being able to acknowledge that they are there and then accepting that they are there.

You find someone who has enough good to outweigh the bad cause everyone has something bad or annoying or whatever, and if you find more things you love than not and the attraction is there then it’s about communication and compromise and knowing the way they give and receive love. The rest kind of falls into place. I’ve been married 2 times and learned a lot from the failed one but now I’ve been married for almost 20 years and we and have 6 children together. Communication and the willingness to compromise are definitely the most important! After kids come into the mix then it also becomes important to make time to just be a couple by having date nights or something so you don’t lose your connection.
I guess the bottomline Dave is, maybe you have to love and accept yourself first, and let your guard down when you come across the person who connects with you in an inexplicable way. You realize compatibility and you don't overthink it.

This is so sweet to watch but actually makes me feel so lonely. My bf broke up with me after 2 and half years and it's really unbearable bc I accepted him for what he was and even though he had flaws, he made me love them eventually. I have flaws too and he tried to compromise but seeing how it was difficult for him to do so, I tried to better myself for him because I love him above all. (And I wanted to do that for the both of us, he didn't push me. He even helped me to do so.) Even though I did that, he just couldn't stop remembering our old fights and how they ruined his mood. It's sad bc we were really happy in total. He told me that he's sure he won't find another person so patient, caring and loving as me but eventually, he chose his way. And even though it hurts so much to realize it's over, this relationship was the best one I had and I will cherish it forever, especially bc it made me mature as a person and to take into acc the other person's feelings and needs. I agree with all they said, but I'm exactly in Dave's position. Loads of my friends are getting married and having kids, and I only recently figured out that I want them too. I think my situation is a little bit more stupid and embarrassing, and I catch myself obsessing over it sometimes, but then I also have a ton of things going on currently so I know I probably couldn't dedicate the time it needs to be in a relationship. Family brain vs work brain.

Dave, I think you need to learn to listen to other people, especially for little things. That is the key in a relationship, little things, not big ones.
I agree with all they said, but I'm exactly in Dave's position. Loads of my friends are getting married and having kids, and I only recently figured out that I want them too. I think my situation is a little bit more stupid and embarrassing, and I catch myself obsessing over it sometimes, but then I also have a ton of things going on currently so I know I probably couldn't dedicate the time it needs to be in a relationship. Family brain vs work brain.

Yet a lot of people aspire to be those kind of cool uncle/aunt nowadays where they build their career first but gave no thoughts about relationship. I guess that we have pretty much the same age, so I can grasp what you are talking about. Even though many people like us don't have a partner to be with, and we'd like to fulfill our "emptiness" of our minds and hearts I must say that this beautiful couple is right when they told you about not to wait for the appropriate person, but try to let things happen. Once, I remembered a movie I watch a year ago (The shift - Wayne Dyer) and I remembered when Dyer said sth like: "you don't need to find a date if you live what I'm talking about you'll understand that everything will be perfect, and everyone that comes into your life will come in on time, perfectly. You're a divine creation of God, you are a spiritual being, and you don't need anyone else to confirm that"
I'm religious by the way, but I do believe that the spiritual field is important. We'll find a suitable person in the right moment, I'm sure.
