I’m just getting into taxidermy trying to learn everything through videos. Been doing euro mounts and have a ton of customers. I would pay good money to be walked through/taught hands on like this. If you ever want to offer something like that, I will be the first to sign up!
@@thecedarridgechronicles not sure where you’re located, I’m in Virginia but I would take off work and fly to wherever to be taught how to do shoulder mounts even if it’s just for one day. You name the price and I’ll be there, I’m sure my subscribers would enjoy it also.
I feel you on that same here I have learned how to turn the ears but I can't figure out the nose lips or eyes I got 2 nice books in the freezer I've been practicing on does for the ears
I have effectively watched all your videos at this point. This video is the number one video in my opinion. This video allows you to be the guy you’re teaching you can put yourself in his shoes and listen to your guidance , it’s truly a teaching video. You should start having some students on and add that to your arsenal of ways to make money in your business and video the classes for the channel! 14 years in the Army so far, I’m almost to my 20 so im trying to learn as much as I can about this stuff virtually as possible so I can start my own business in SW Georgia when I retire and you are awesome! Spending the rest of my life doing what I love is my goal and you are a blessing along the way to help me reach that goal.
I watched this entire video because I desperately want to try and mount my own buck. Thank you so much for making this! I hope you make more videos like this with more people as nice as Pablo! Really enjoyed this!
It really is probably the most informative video on how to mount a deer that I have made just because I have to explain in detail every single step without edits
@@thecedarridgechroniclesdefinitely agree! I think you should pick someone who shows interest every so often to do this same thing with. I’d love to see you do the same thing but continue the process to 100% completion. Like have Pablo come back and do the finishing process after it’s dried. Like you said, it’s a lot more instructive watching you teach someone. Shoot, I’ll make a road trip and do one with you if you ever need someone in the future!
I’ve been wanting to get into taxidermy and watching you has helped me think I can do it. This video in particular really makes me think I can. Seeing you teach someone who’s never done it and make it look so easy and clear instructions. I’m excited to try!
I thoroughly enjoy this video. I dabbled in taxidermy work in my younger years without the help of an expert. I wish had someone like you to mentor me then. As much as you want to jump in I applaud your patience, you walk him right through the whole experience And you both did an amazing job. I just subscribed and can wait to see the rest of your videos. God capital G bless you both
Im only 10 minutes into this video but THIS is exactly the type of video ive been looking for. Great way to learn how to DIY a deer mount. Thank you SO much!! Im going to watch this one a few times. Great detailed instructions on how we should be doing each step.
I really do think a person could learn better from this than my vids on how to mount a deer. It showed me exactly what someone might need to know in real time and it’s impossible to accidentally leave something out
@ agreed. I also think it helped because your friend was able to take instruction well and had done “ some homework” beforehand and put his time in. That’s what I’m trying to do over the winter this year.
Man you are my favorite taxadermist. I've learned so much from watching your videos. You're a genuinly good person. No other taxadermist shares they're tradesman ship.i realy enjoy watching you work. It really gives me cofadince.i have a nice 8 pt im gonna do after Christmas. My work will slow down and alow me too go for it. Keep up the good work. You're friend should really be thankful to have a friend like you. Stay safe. Happy Thanksgiving. Jason from Arkansas.
What a great video congrats to Pablo! Nice job! I mounted a buck for my uncle last yr for my first time from watching your videos and hope to do one or two more this yr. thank you for all the videos
He seems like a really great guy to be around, and the kind of guy that could just make anybody smile just by being kind. Also, that does look really great!!! I'm looking into starting taxidermy for myself and maybe other people, and watching people learn (like in this video) will definitely help me understand what to look for when I don't understand hat to do. Because I can see someone else learning what "mistakes" I may make along the way. I would like to think you and Pablo for making such an informative and educational video.
That was fun to watch! One of my best friends is a taxidermist and this makes me want to try it.I just had shoulder surgery so I’ve been watching all your videos and you do a really good job.I can tell you really care about your customers being happy, keep up the good work brother!
Really enjoy your videos. I’m wanting to try to mount my own deer. I feel like your videos help teach more than any other ones I’ve seen. I was wondering why you didn’t use modeling clay on the nose pad and around the lips on this one
On the Mears forms the nose pad is perfect. Some of the others have sharp edges on the nostrils or too large nostrils and I’ll use clay to make it look better. On the lips I have started to plunge the Dremel bit all the way into the manikin and then cut the slit without stopping in one long motion rather than using the tip to cut at the form. This creates a smaller slit on the surface while leaving a larger void internally for tucking. This way the skin fits tight and flush and there is no need for clay
@@thecedarridgechronicles oh ok I’ve just been watching a lot of your videos and been really paying attention trying to learn everything step-by-step so when I go to do it, I won’t mess up as bad lol
And I have yet to meet someone that is willing to teach or go step-by-step on how to do a mount it's either oh I'm too busy or I don't have time But your video has helped there's And is a step-by-step Keep it up I would like to start doing my own mounts I gotten pretty good at doing The European mounts I have 2 deer in the freezer that I have Turned the The ears on both of them just can't figure out the eyes or the nose or the lips and Can't find a good video on that And haven't had the courage to try and do it freestyle
I’d be the second! I’m in Bham. Love this channel! I did my first full turkey mount for myself a few months ago. I had sooo much fun! I have a lot to work on but learning.
Another thing I would like to try to find is sick say you take your measdramants of one deer and you can just order the whole kit that comes with the eyes the ears the clay and a little bit of glue Especially say if someone wants to try and give it a shot but don't know what to buy or how much glue they need
If you go to the website and search for “deer mounting kit” it is on there. It will not be tanned the same way I do mine in the videos, but it does come with instructions.
I’m curious what’s that mount called? I’ve gotten so far done full sneak and 2 semi up right’s done bye my grandfather over the years he really doesn’t do them anymore. And says a picture is easier lol bye watching your videos help’s me learn the trade but maybe one of these days if I get a deer worth it. And you have the schedule I’ll get you to do one 🤘🏻

There are a handful of taxidermist that offer classes. Generally around $800 a day depending on who you go to.

What hide paste do you use?
Pro 1. Call them to order direct and tell Paul that Daniel from The Cedar Ridge Chronicles sent you! 🤙 it is amazing stuff!
what is the best mounting stand that holds just one deer?
I use the floor stand McKenzie taxidermy supply sells and I like it but I’ve never tried any other to compare it to

Yes I use Pro 1
