Spillane is an unsung hero, quiet and reserved, but an absolute monster on the field... A true Linebacker, with a Linebacker mentality. What is Epps? I'd love to see a complete breakdown video of his good and bad, Carl. I haven't seen him contribute to this defense anything but the benefit of his experience on the young cats in the defensive backfield. And what's up with Diablo? Game in, game out, all I ever seem to notice is how he's out of place. I think if we saw less if those two, and more of our two standouts on the practice squad (can't recall their names) this defense would improve, maybe not give up so many big plays...
LOL... Carl, you rock sir....And some text here...0:09 ... he he.....Appreciate your hard work and great content. But that intro bro... Something was overlooked. Not complaining at all, Love what you put out. Keep on Trucking brother.
Diablo can go in free agency, like him but he's always showing up missing gaps and tackles and he's not elite in coverage. Maybe I'm being too hard on him, but spillane is a great run stuffer and shows up in the passing game. We will see we have a ton of defensive starters coming up to the end of contract
[OC] The origin of Mark Jackson's "Mama, there goes that man" goes back at least 85 years and was previously used in reference to Hitler tl;dr - Jackson's phrase is an old American joke about children not recognizing their father that became so widely popular it crossed the Atlantic and was used derisively of Hitler prior to WWII Full explanation: This is probably most closely associated with Kobe Bryant highlights from a decade ago, but Jackson has subsequently used it as an acknowledged catchphrase for LeBron James and Kevin Durant. And ever since he started doing it, people have been asking "What's the deal with Mark Jackson saying that?" A popular answer on the Internet is that Steve Harvey had been using the phrase in his standup around that time and Jackson took it from there. While that may be the most immediate provenance, I'm not familiar enough with his comedy to recall it and other than references to Mark Jackson, I couldn't find evidence of that claim online. What's more likely is that he picked it up from a grandparent or great-grandparent, and that's because "That Man" was an incredibly popular, international meme in the 1930s and early '40s before basically evaporating since. This is illustrated by a show that generated quite a few catchphrases of its own during its run: "It's That Man Again". The BBC radio program supposedly got its name from a common practice of the Daily Express newspaper calling Adolf Hitler "that man" in its headlines in 1939. I haven't been able to find any of those headlines directly, but it's widely cited and the explanation the creators gave for their choice in title. You might be fooled, then, into thinking the original meaning is referencing literal, historical Hitler. But to my knowledge, Jackson has never used it for a James Harden highlight, and the phrase was already ubiquitous when the Nazis came to power. By 1934, it was popular enough that there was already a song called "That Man Is Here Again" by Cab Calloway, and a sort of common reference is made to it in "The Thin Man" film released in 1934, too. For a fuller explanation, skip to 16:45 of this episode of Lexicon Valley by John McWhorter as he goes into it and how it was a pervasive joke that made it into all kinds of stuff. There was a joke and the joke was that a husband and father is away so much that when he comes home his child says, "Mommy, that man is here again." For some reason that was considered hilarious. "A Dictionary of Catch Phrases" by Eric Partridge takes a more cynical view: 'The joke-reference had to do with the basic situation of mummy's boy friend being innocently identified by a child-"Mummy, it's that man again"-as once more he comes calling while daddy is out' (Wedgewood, 1977). But then Shipley writes, 'My recollection [of "Mummy, it's..., in the US] is that it began not as a story or a joke, but as a caption to a cartoon'-which he cautiously dates as belonging to the early 1930s. Which also means Alex from Yahoo! answers actually had their shit together years ago, unlike apparently everyone else on the Internet. So there you have it! When Mark Jackson is saying "Mama, there goes that man!" to punctuate a dunk, he's ultimately referencing an, at a minimum, 85-year-old joke about absent fathers or cuckoldry. Either way, the player in question is a real motherfucker, which lines up pretty well with how the phrase is used today.
Carl I think we are actually starting to get a little more people and teams uncomfortable. We ain’t getting no real praise and that’s ok. Minshew is leading the league in accuracy and passes over 20 yards. So he getting it too. The glaring problem is our Oline. Last game giving up a sack and fumble is not the way to set the tone. The better they block, the better the runs and better the pass plays. I’m excited about this team and I believe Minshew is the real deal. Give the kid some time let him uncle Rico that ass… LFG RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!
As long as we don't deal with anymore injuries on defense, or serious injuries I love the way this defense plays and can't wait until we get koonce and wilson back.
Spillaine reminds me of another LB we had that wore 41 in the 70s. Not as recognized as Villapiano, but as good, I think. Something about the number 41 and linebackers.
Diablo is the weak link on film. He also does makes alot of plays though. Sometimes he's just way off on a play but most of the time he's not. He wasn't a linebacker in college so he doesn't have the instincts and violence necessary Sometimes needed when he's in the box defending the run.
Tired of Divine Deablo and now Marcus Epps missing tackles and poor gap discipline. Deablo more than Epps, JT they both show up in lowlights too often.
Carl… The O-line needs to tighten up and facilitate the running game….. It’s only 2 games but the Raiders are last in the NFL averaging less than 50 yards per game on the ground? ( per Rich Gannon on JT the brick?)
I have a sinking feeling we are going to come out flat against Carolina and go back to the running game, resulting in Dalton beating us in the 4th quarter.
Or we crush him like the backup bug he is now! He’s not playing the former HCs like Josh McDaniels defenses before.,A new sheriff’s in town and Deputy DPOY Maxx Crosby ain’t having it. But good point about coming out flat. Up to RN to stand up and show out! Blackout Sunday and we go to 2-1 to enter Rich Eisen’s Top 10 next Wednesday!! 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏈💯
Al Davis said it best. “We’re gonna make mistakes. I’m not worried about that. Only one thing matters…Just Win Baby!” 🖤🏴☠️🏈
This is my favorite highlight/breakdown channel. Thank you for making these videos. They remind me of the classic highlight films from the 90’s. RN4L.
Thanks for watching!
Defense is legit! stay healthy 🙏🏼
Defend home front and gets this W cause if they don't, I swear to God, I'll do absolutely nothing about it.
🤷 What? I got warrants
Divine Deablo fucks up everything. Smh, always out of postion, wrong gap.
Sounds cruel, but it's good that he's injured now. So looks like Luke Masterson will be playing in his spot or another LB.
Adam Butler is super underrated
Thanks for the breakdown. Cheers!
Good breakdown Carl. Thanks!

Not anymore! Spillane is sung now! They know about him.
RAAAIIIIDDEERRRRRRSSSSS!

Appreciated. I'll go back and look at whatever it is.

He never should have been a linebacker. They do that too much. Sometimes, a safety is a safety no matter how big you are.

Wtf
Thanks for the education on that.

Long explanation to something that isn’t true.
Ahhh Shit!! It's The Pirates vs Andy Dalton And The Red Rifle Gang😅

Miss tackle by Marcus Epps 3:20, it’s Henry bro almost every corner back or safety is gonna have a hard time tackling him

Tyree Wilson sucks.

If they can limit teams to under
100 total rushing yards a game
They can easily be a legit top 5 defense in the league

I hope Jackson Powers-Johnson coming back helps.
And some text here 😂😂😂
Does maxx have his helmet from last year aa

They're not good enough to come out flat against the Panthers in their first home game of the season.
Diablo sucks he should not be a starter
If only they still had Carr.
