Ion that is probably one of the most pathetic excuses i’ve ever read. you do not go to a bar just to hook up, and you do not get drunk so you can blame your poor actions on it. alcohol is absolutely no way to get out of taking the blame for something you did. i love that you’re really over here condoning r*pe at a bar because you think it’s what people go to bars for. life is not a movie. in real life, people go to the bar with friends to hang out and dance, and someone slips something in their drink, and they hardly know what’s happening. or someone just forces it, and you might be totally sober. if BOTH people do not consent, under no circumstances is it okay. that’s ridiculous.
Merrilee Lukins that is a very sweet story. Nice of you to share. It’s awful that you can’t just make a comment without people commenting on your comment to try and stir things up.
I remember meeting Chris in 2012 before he had gotten any notoriety. He was down to earth, friendly, and was an excellent musician. We sat him down in a small, boring office room and asked him to play something. To this day, it was one of the most memorable live performances I've ever seen! Keep it up Chris!
Kim W. So glad you agree with me!We, as women, need and have to take responsibility for our own actions- always! It's not a stranger's place to take care of a person they don't even know. I love his message but all these comments, wow, people are running wild with the message he is delivering and saying terrible things about women. We have to control of ourselves-as women and never depend on a stranger to do it!Thanks.
I'm not a country music fan, not at all and I watched this twice, WOW! Mad respect for this song's topic.Thank you !! That's the difference between a boy and a MAN ! Thumbs up to the REAL Gentlemen, Thank you.
This song deserves so much more than it got. The lyrics are so strong ad the music hits the right tune. Thank you for the song Chris Janson and everyone who worked on it ♥♥♥
I am a man. I have done this many times during my uni years. Never thought much of it, its just the right thing to do. Karma helped me later, I had some ladies do the same thing for me on my last uni year on the one and only time I partied too much. Some hope in humanity restored.
Yeah, the something that is wrong is that women evidently can't take care of themselves. As always, they need men to do it for them. Not even trolling, that is fact, and essentially what the video is saying... though most are too stupid to see it (singer included).
The Merovingian the fact of the matter is life happens, young people find themselves in vulnerable positions after a night of fun. This has nothing to do with men “coming to the rescue” and being a night in shining armor saving the princess from the fire breathing dragon. It is simply saying do the right thing regardless if it’s the girl that is drunk or vice versa, don’t take advantage of the situation. Get off your high horse and get over your feministic mentality. Not even cool.
Ok.... so if "the fact of the matter" is that 'young people' find themselves in these 'situations'... then why are the lyrics specifically referring to take a drunk GIRL home? Why so specific? High horse? Naw I just see it how it is.... whereas you've been brainwashed.
@@sagegalloway5407 Going out and getting way too drunk is the problem. And it's not a man responsibility to carry a women home. We are not responsible for your safety. What do you not understand? ?
Man this had me tearing up. I've known too many people back before I graduated who would always talk about how they had sex with a drunk girl and brag about it and it always made me uneasy. Anyone with that mindset I left in the dust after graduation and haven't spoken to them since cause of bad character just like that. A girl I had a huge crush on was super wasted at the bar a few months back when we were all out and my buddy was like dude you're getting lucky tonight and I just looked at him and said nah dude its not right and you know it too. I ended up giving her a ride home and helped her to bed. She still to this day don't remember getting home but I know I had people looking down on me smiling because of it. I was always brought up to do the right thing no matter what and god this song just hits home.

threalsitygirl this video just put every great father down the crapper, shut up with your raise awareness crap, there are just as many fucked up mother's as there are fathers. This video didn't even focus on the lyrics of the song. I love the song. But this video was crap. WAY to just shit on good fathers and make every mother look like a saint. Trust me, my ex wife is a horrible mother. I'm the one who is there for the children not her
StraightWhite Male This video raises awareness about consent. A drunk girl cannot give consent. I agree that fathers are just as important as mothers. My brother is an amazing dad and his child's mother is a piece of crap. Fathers can raise kids just as well as any woman can. So don't worry: the system pisses me off when it caters to women who shouldn't be mothers or craps on men who are amazing fathers. However, that's not the message in this video I was talking about.
THANK YOU CHRIS ONCE AGAIN. YOU SAVED ME BEFORE I CROSSED THAT LINE. YOUR MOM RAISED A RESPECTFUL GENTLEMEN. YOU ROCK YOUR COUNTRY SONGS WITH GRACE AND MERCY. GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS.

Thank you Chris Janson! While not necessarily a fan of a lot of your music (and nothing personal against you because you obviously have great talents and fans), but as a 55 old male I find this song so very refreshing to listen to the message. As someone who has never taken advantage of a woman in that state (and sadly was probably in the position to do just that) your song reminds me that this does happen daily in this world and I have been replaying this song over and over again thinking about each instance of this happening to a girl. Thank you for allowing me to share some compassion with this issue tonight.
@@bottle17528 well yea when a woman is drunk on the street and vulnerable they need a man who is hopefully near by to protect them and make sure she is safe and not taken advantage of by some sloppy fat fuck keyboard warrior like you.
When I was in college I was put in this position. Fortunately, I made the right decision on this and never regretted. The sad part was I could think of 4-5 guys that would have taken advantage of the situation in a heartbeat. I guess my father raised me to be a man.
And it's kind of crazy because it really doesn't show anything bad, the words just put off a message that can have such a provoking emotional response for some people. It's a great song
Guess the "threw on the floor" part was politically incorrect. Men you can't imagine that, right? On the other hand, fictional guy is a paragon. If the song makes you ponder difference in image and power, more power to it.
Both the lyrics version and the video with just the artist singing don't have the warning. I'm guessing its for the depictions of 1. her abusive situation growing up, and 2. in the college frat house of her being taken advantage of (small indications she was unwilling). Too many women can relate, and this depiction was very mild but could easily trigger women.
Im in college and in a sorority so my friends and I deal with this so often, its sad that we girls have to watch out so hard for each other bc of exactly what this song is about. I hope boys and men alike listen to this song and truly adopt the traits he sings about. This hit home for sure
So you’re saying you go out and get shit faced drunk a lot and end up sleeping with drunk men but you’re the victim even though the dude was drunk too. Well that’s an interesting position to have. Not like you could just drink responsibly and hold yourself accountable for your actions or anything. This coming from a man who won’t touch a drunk woman.
@@ragmar_2464 somebody isn't a fan of women, apparently. Nowhere did she say she slept with men while shit faced drunk, and whether that man is drinking as well or not-- you know not to take advantage of women. That should be common sence. Also females are allowed to drink. What you're saying is "Well you shouldn't drink, then maybe men wouldn't take advantage of you"? So we can't drink now either? You all are just ridiculous 🙄
@@ashleahgarrin7740 I am a huge fan of good women. I’m not to keen on women who want double standards. We’re equal right? You yourself said even if a man is drunk he should know not to take advantage of a drunk woman. How the fuck does that add up? So you want to hold men accountable while drunk but refuse to hold women accountable for the same exact choices? Fuck that. That’s disgusting. Either you think women are inferior to men or you simply think they shouldn’t be held accountable period. Yes, women are absolutely allowed to drink. They’re allowed to do everything else a man can do as well. That’s not in question. The difference between you and I is… if a man makes a bad choice because he’s drunk I hold him accountable and you agree. BUT, if a woman makes a bad choice while drunk you think she has some immunity to personal accountability and I hold her to the same standard as I do men. I see men and women as equals where as you seem to believe men are held to a higher standard … because you believe women are inferior. That’s seriously messed up.
@@ragmar_2464 No, I do believe we are equals and should be treated equally to an extent. I think where we're disagreeing here is that I feel as though you seem to be blaming the woman's intoxication on her being taken advantage of, whereas I blame the dudes with the high sex drives and no care for another person's life.
@@ashleahgarrin7740 If a man or woman get so intoxicated they end up sleeping with someone they regret… it is absolutely their fault. That doesn’t mean if a sober man or woman takes advantage of a drunk man or woman they aren’t pieces of shit. They are, but society should still hold the person who got THAT drunk accountable for their choice. Getting THAT drunk is a choice. Now if they were slipped something in their drink that would also be a whole other conversation. Strictly speaking about the results of individual choices. Men go to bars, get drunk and go home with women they’d never sleep with sober. No one ever calls those women rapists even if they were stone cold sober. Society even makes jokes about beer goggles. So if we’re equal let’s act like we’re equal instead of only being equal when it’s convenient.
This song so hits me. The first time I heard it I sobbed. I hope my daughter, or my son have to ever go through the things I did. I put myself in those situations for sure but it didn't have to happen and to this day those things hit me :( To all those who have gone through sexual assault or anything like it, you are not that! I wish every father would make their sons listen to the song by Chris Janson - "Drunk Girl". The words of the song talk to you about what it is to be a real man. No boy needs something like this hanging over their head the rest of their life.
Damn, that was absolutely amazing, the song is great and the video just spreads such a positive message and raises awareness to a big problem in our society, thank you Chris, I can't wait to see it live
MrSak159 what big problem, you mean shitting on good fathers everywhere, what about the shitty mom's. Like my ex wife. This video didn't even focus on the lyrics, it made it into shit on fathers video. Fuck this video. There are just as many fucked up mom's as fathers.
Really good song! At first I didn't know what to expect because of the title, but now I am so glad I listened to the entire song! It is nice to see that respect for a woman is still alive today. It does take a man to help a drunk girl home without her having to wake up with a boy she doesn't know, who is only there after a thing she would have otherwise not given. Respect is a wonderful thing, pass it along.
This is not respect for women. This is just evil. He tells women that it is ok to get drunk and risk your life in the hands of total strangers. And you encourage this insanity ?
Two of my brothers married women who already had children and they took up and started to be Dad to those children. They never treated their own children better or different. Loved them all like they were Dad. I am so proud of my two brothers.
Back when I was in the military, we would have some wild parties. Wake up the next morning I would have several girls in my room because they felt safe around me and knew I would keep them safe while they were vulnerable.
I can't count how many times I've been there. I've never forgotten any of them; I can honestly say taking the moral high ground beats one night of letting your own urges steer your actions. It's truly the difference of being a boy and a man.
This is such an amazing song and I really wish more men were like this. My dad heard this song and always told me that real men are like this not little boys. Never take advantage of a girl or a guy! Be kind. ❤
I’ve never been a drunk girl, but I’m the emotional girl who wants to be loved, which are one in the same. I love this song. There are guys out there like this. One of my best friends from childhood and my husband are two that I have been lucky enough to have in my life. I hope more women who need them find them.
Had a female soldier in my unit back in the 80’s who drank a little too much too often. She had the advantage of having a lot of “big brothers” looking out for her. One time, her luck ran out. She refused to tell us who it was as she was afraid of some barracks justice being dolled out. Taking advantage of a drunk girl is just plain wrong.

Wow that’s cool!! Good luck and congrats to y’all!!
My son shared this song with me. Very powerful. Thank you.
I remember meeting Chris in 2012 before he had gotten any notoriety. He was down to earth, friendly, and was an excellent musician. We sat him down in a small, boring office room and asked him to play something. To this day, it was one of the most memorable live performances I've ever seen! Keep it up Chris!
Steve Hardy Cool story, you lucky dog! I would love to hear him live!😋
🍀
I'm sorry that happened to you, Dr. Krune. Rape is never OK, even when committed by someone as wonderful and considerate as Chris Janson.
This song is one I'll listen to more than once. It touches me deeply
OMG, I wish every woman and young girl could see this video. It is such a good message and the song is beautiful. Absolutely love Chris Jansen.
What? The message of thsi song is that when a woman drinks she becomes a helpless girl and needs a man to save her.
As a dues paying member of the Patriarchy I recommend ladies not go to bars.
Great song! Brought tears to my eyes!
This shit blows 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
I'm not a country music fan, not at all and I watched this twice, WOW! Mad respect for this song's topic.Thank you !! That's the difference between a boy and a MAN ! Thumbs up to the REAL Gentlemen, Thank you.
Dolan Duk why the fuck are you talking to someone like that? Maybe you’re the fucking bitch. get the fuck outta here
This guy is a real man. I wish there were more of them.
This song deserves so much more than it got. The lyrics are so strong ad the music hits the right tune. Thank you for the song Chris Janson and everyone who worked on it ♥♥♥
Its good to hear some chivalry in country music again. As a father to two girls, this song is much appreciated.
I am a man. I have done this many times during my uni years. Never thought much of it, its just the right thing to do. Karma helped me later, I had some ladies do the same thing for me on my last uni year on the one and only time I partied too much. Some hope in humanity restored.
Good for you...a real man!
Thank you
I feel like country hasnt had a song like this in years. Definetly needed.
Should win song of the year- if it doesnt something is just wrong

Awesome
Countryboy_91 Respect to ya.
Countryboy_91 you’re a good guy ! I’m glad there’s some left
God bless you for handling it this way! Much respect
Countryboy_91 thank you so much. You are one of the good guys. We so need more guys like you. I applaud you. This song hit close to me and my situation. I only wish I had a nice guy as you are back then. 😊
Reading this actually teared me up and that's when I realize how sad it is that something that should be the norm isn't. Love this. Love your character. Keep being you and I hope you find an amazing girl because you deserve that and more.
This is such a great music video. This is such a good message. It's so important to raise awareness of this.
threalsitygirl this video just put every great father down the crapper, shut up with your raise awareness crap, there are just as many fucked up mother's as there are fathers.
However, that's not the message in this video I was talking about.
threalsitygirl yeah I love the song, just that this video didn't really go with the lyrics.
StraightWhite Male Yeah, that's what a lot of people are saying. I still think it's a powerful video and a good song though.
Raise awareness about what? That women cant take care of themselves? LOL We already know that.
THANK YOU CHRIS ONCE AGAIN. YOU SAVED ME BEFORE I CROSSED THAT LINE. YOUR MOM RAISED A RESPECTFUL GENTLEMEN. YOU ROCK YOUR COUNTRY SONGS WITH GRACE AND MERCY. GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS.
What a fantastic song. Wish there were more songs this fantastic that has a positive message. Watching this should be a requirement for all young men.
I just heard this on the radio so I had to look it up. I have a 4 year old boy. I pray everyday that he grows up to be a good human being. If he’s ever put into this situation I hope that he makes the right decision.
Wow, chills man. Thanks for singing this, and making this video. Let's teach these youngin's some respect! Goes a helluva long way. Much respect and praise. Not only love your voice, but also your character. Funny how a little girl can change you huh! God bless.

I just found Chris Hanson today, I love being a Dad just tore right through me and I fell in love with it because I felt everything he did in writing that song.
Now Drunk Girl is a song I can give my Kids. My Son to show him how we treat or Girls/Woman and my daughter so she knows how she should be respected.
I love this man's music thank God and Mr. Janson for allowing me to hear and share it.
God bless you all I wish everyone the greatest happiness they can have.
Thank you for this song... from every woman/girl who has been taken advantage of in that situation including myself.
This makes me cry everytime I listen. 💙
Written in heaven, transcribed by a human. Great song
lol really? what I get from this song is that women drink they need a man to help them.
Love your comment...
Fart
Total fantasy. She's not a tatted up fat chick with green hair.
Yes, he did. More importantly, you heeded the way you were raised.
This is the only country song that I've seen with that warning at the beginning.
Thats because most boys wont just leave keys.
Something bad Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert
This is one of the most gut wrenching reminders of what so many girls are looking for… far too find such a guy… what a song & gut feeling delivery
Not only a beautiful song from a man with a beautiful voice but a message all young and old men should hear!
love the sincerity in his voice. A powerful video that speaks to many men and women.
You didn't deserve it!

Agreed it clearly states that when a woman drinks she becomes a girl that throws her life on the floor and that she needs a man to save her.
Saw Chris sing this at the grand ole Opry. Had me in tears by the end of the song. Touches home. Wish had a man like that at my young adult years.
