Welcome Back! In today's video I talk about TWO Integrated Amplifiers that offer so much bang for your dollar. These are two fully featured integrated amps that cost thousands less than the competition yet offer up just as much if not more than the mega dollar amps.
The Advance Paris A10 and A12 Classic are a mix of old school looks (with their huge electric blue VU meters) and modern with the dual mono amp design, fully featured remote, dual sub outputs (with crossover adjust), dual headphone inputs, a phono stage, a DAC and so much more.
These are the most "loaded" integrated amps I have ever reviewed yet all of this stuffed into one box does not seem to hurt it in the sound department.
The A12 classic is my gave with it's insane power, dual transformers and smooth silky spatial sound. The A10 at $2499 is a bonafide bargain in the world of modern day HiFi and kicks way above its price.
I hope you enjoy this video with my thoughts on these two very cool integrated amps!
Enjoy!

One day you should make a list of absolute value (not for the price) just to clarify, because all the components you review are being piled up as the best of the best and it becomes difficult to know which is better.
@@ccapri9357 yes, wholeheartedly agree, perhaps an audio rating like Doug DeMure’s “Doug Score” auto review rating.
I never ever say a product I review is the “best of the best”. In fact, I often say that the best doesn’t exist. It doesn’t. No such thing. I also said these did not beat my reference for my ears. So no, no such thing as “the best” in audio. Just differences. I review only what I like, and do not review what I dislike. So all I review will be excellent but all are different. Some have mega features. Some have little. Some have a big full sound. Some have lean detailed sound. Some look amazing, some look plain. Some are priced low, some are high. But no, never once in this video did I ever say these are “the best” or “best of the best”. I said if I had a $2500 budget for an integrated amp I’d buy the A10 :)
@@HiFiHuffimho a list with your top 3 amps, dacs, speakers etc below 3k-4k dollars and above 3k-4k dollars would be very helpful for us.
I have the A10 and I really couldn't be happier. It is a phenomenal amp for the price. Much better than the 7000A it replaced. I agree, the sound is just a tad warm. It can run in biased mode, has bass and treble control, loudness control...you never see that anymore and it's very useful. Plenty of power and a ton of inputs. Not to mention if you like VU meters it is gorgeous when lit up.
Thanks for sharing. Apart from improved power how do you compare the internal DACs and Phono Pre Amps between the A10 and 7000A?
They definited nailed the appearance - way prettier than more expensive amps. I just wish they would release an all analogue integrated amp.
Though maybe not all the options but if you are not into full tube amps some of the closest amps in this range are the Vincent SV 237 and Unison and Pathos and even two Aegir amps. The Sugden A21 and their dac 4 (which I can not say if it is more analog and real clinking than the Harmony or AAdac or Cyan 2 dacs) are great too.
Can you make a compatiscon with the Yamaha RN 2000? Which Is best? Thanks you
Have the Advance Paris speakers and they are just excelent.
I would say that the high bias mode is for the SS power amp section. To run it in class A longer. I’ve never seen any preamp anything that is biased. The bias is always for the power section. ✌️
I think I read in another review that the tubes in the preamp stage are always in class A, and the high bias switch is for the power amp stage. No one has said exactly how much output power is class A, they all say "a few watts". I emailed AP and got no response.
Awesome My A12 Just Arrived Tofay!!!
@@dtracy03ss enjoy it!
Thank you for the review! In France, Advance Paris has an old bad reputation, not really justified, about the reliability of their products. I can have there the A12 for 2100€. May be i will get a Christmas present in advance..?^^
@@jannotjerome6552 and the A10 ?
@@garrinchatuga 1800€. The standard price for us. Normally the A12 is 2600€.
I bought mine from Germany for like 2200, I think it’s a work horse does everything you need it to do
They might have deserved the reputation because that's the old Advance Acoustics or whatever the old name was. So it seems like at some point they made changes that also called for a rebrand. I have my A12 for what feels like a couple of years now and no problems whatsoever.
That’s interesting. Would love to hear about long term reliability from others that have their amps. They look beautiful. My concern beyond long term reliability is changing the tubes. I saw a review that made it look like they were very difficult to replace. They will need to be replaced so if it’s not easy, forget it.
Great review thanks again. Fess up time, older happy HiFi human here and I’m still running an Advance Acoustic MMA402 hooked up to an NAD C162 preamp. My 🇦🇺 Richter speakers are 5ohm and the soundstage is excellent in my open plan house whether I’m playing vinyl or CDs with the possible exception of some female vocalists that sound a teensy bit ‘muffled’. It also has a warmup protection circuit. Love those blue VU meters✌️
Wonder if there is a difference in the DAC and Phono Pre Amps used between the A10 and A12? If so how signocant are the diffences of these features?
I purchase the A10 and sent it back Because after every couple of songs had ended it sent a tweeter killing crack though the speaker while streaming music, i don't know if I was unlucky but I have read on a few forums and people had the same problem also.

This brand definitely stepped up the last 2 years.
I wonder how well the A10 can drive LRS+ and how it would stack up against Rotel 1572 MkII
Thanks for great insight, I am also looking at the A12 but was wondering if I should get the Advance Paris separate preamp x-p700 and power Amp x-a160 evo. It would be amazing if you could compare them together. I can get A12 for 1900 euro and the pre power for 2150. Thnx for you time
Thank you for sharing your experience with these units. This is the second time the Advance Paris A12 pick my attention, a stunner filled with options. I'm currently in search of an Integrated in the $3,500.00 range, and wondered if you would share your opinion as to which would be your choice between the Paris A12 and the Galion TS34. Thank you!
i typed in your actual name and found this... never knew it existed before. kudos!
I love the tigerblood entry. Excellent.
Thanks for the review!
I've been trying to find out about the bass management. I went through the manual and I emailed Advance Paris but got no response. There are two, three position bass management switches and two subwoofer outputs. Do the switches and outputs correspond to the speaker A and B selections? In the center switch position is the output to the subwoofer on or off? If it is on, does it pass full bandwidth to the sub? When you put the switch in either the 75 or 150 Hz position, is a high pass applied to the signal going through the A12 power amp, or is it only low pass filter to the subwoofer output? What is the slope of the roll-off?
I wonder how easy it is to get to those tubes to do some rolling?
You can do it but it's not that easy. Best way is to disassemble the front panel.
@@joeythedime1838 yikes, that does not sound for amateurs....
Loaded with everything, but not a streamer that the electrocompaniet ECI 6DXII is featured with?!?
Great all in one. If I wasn't so old and have so many various class components already...
In Europe A12 cost 2700 euro . It’s definitely an interesting proposition.
Does anyone know how many watts into Class A it goes when it's in High Bias mode? Maybe 5-10 watts?
I read in a review that it was 20 watts but I have my doubts. 20 Watts would be painfully loud.
Any suggestions for A12 speakers within $2500?

If your saying the quality is there with these things, how could these not be lifetime purchases!? They have Luxman looks, and Musical Fidelity price with pre-ins/outs to boot! Bored of the sound? Pipe in a discrete amp and off you go for another 10 years, lol.
There's always going to be a cost savings when a company offshores their manufacturing to China. It's also a tried and true way of hurting companies like Macintosh that keep the manufacturing in the USA.
I doubt it hurts McIntosh if those guys have their gear made in China. I won't buy it since it's made there. The quality is diminished.
What tubes do they use?

Thanks.
These look very cool
Would you buy one?
Wonder what their resale value is.
in EU you find them around 1750 euro for the A12
What about ther power amps?
Their early stuf was just looks. Not my brand.
Thanks !! Great review. However, when compared to the price here in Europe, one can ask whether or not the importer is already implementing Trump tariffs !?!? Really !!!
McIntosh is Unique , You can not buy 1Dollar with 50 Cents.
Neither $1 with $2😂
5:08 Back panel of amp says 8 ohms minimum. Same binding posts at $79 tiny amps. No thanks.
I have seen other photos of the back of the amp that say for speakers A or B, 4-16 Ohms, for speaker A+B 6-16 Ohms. The amp is specced for 280 W into 4 Ohms, so clearly it is OK at 4 Ohms.
Not worth 500😂😂😂
Based on what and the 😂!? Your comment is useless in this case.
