It always amazes me how Japan has many ways to say I love you. In profs case, just like many livers, his EN "I love you" is just really meant to be platonic. No need for fans to read much into it. XD
I love the variety and different degrees you can express love/like in Japanese. I'm a translating noob so I'm finding it tough to translate all these variations into English since "I love you" is really the most common expression and can be platonic >.
@@karakurich7029 oh no waittt. Your translation is perfect! Kinda just want to put it out there for fellow fans not to read much into it when livers say I love you. I'm sorry for causing a misunderstanding. 🙇
Well basically Japanese language is based on respect or honor and formality and theirs multiple levels of it if I remember right there's even whole level of it that's nearly a dead language and is only kept around for tradition and historic purposes and it's original use was only for priests to comune with their god but I might say I love pizza and that would be like daisuki but when your on your knee confessing to your childhood best friend under the Sakura petals a lol luv ya doesn't quite cut it so they amp up the word choice to convey where to us it's more about context clues and like how we say it
In English-speaking countries, you can throw the word "love" around and that's completely fine. In Asia, or at least in my country, you have to run across a vocabulary minefield to say how much you like a person.
Love is a big word, for western, I mean you don't say it casually to your partner It'll mean that they want to marry you, so yeah love is a big word for western I mean at least when you're not joking
I think that's precious that there is so many ways to say I love you. Even though we have one way to say it, there are many ways to show it and describe it.
@@dafaqu694 nah, kinda disagree. You can throw love around but with added context like "oh, I love your hair" being a very normal complement imo. But "love" in western or wherever is so different in Asian or eastern(?). It's the way you say it, so it's pretty much mental gymnastics at that point where you're just saying "like" than "love"
@@dafaqu694 love is casual in the west, you can say i love you to your friends, family, practically anyone! It's platonic. And i think we should lower down the meaning of "love" in our cultures too because we should know how to show affection to our friends and etc. It just leaves with misunderstandings and dramas.
It's fun seeing the cultural differences at play here. I'm not sure if Tamaki is ready to see Oliver in person. He 6ft 3in or 190cm, which isn't towering like it is in Japan, but is still tall by even western standards.
Tamaki likes them big, just like his _tower of babel_ xD And here I thought Tamaki can only act like a girl when Kanda is involved Sasuga Tamaki! Always want to go further and deeper relationship when handsome men are involved 😂

Hugs, kisses, saying I love you and talking about intimate things out in the open, is nothing strange to us. But for them, its like you wouldn't dare unless you are only married or if its family. But I've hugged and kissed (cheek&forehead) my friends plenty of times and it never was blown out of proportion. Its so precious that they way we show our affection so casually, is considered too affectionate to them.

It's bloody mindblowing just how cultures differ and even how it affects our attitude (can be seen in bi/multilingual peeps) I'm generally "casual"???????? or laid back in ENG and I use a buncha swear words as well.
