      For the hepatitis B vaccine to be effective you need to have three doses in a six month period. If you have had two, speak to your doctor to find out if you can have the third dose now or if you need to start the course again.

    When expect hbv cure medicine Australia scientist found?

    • @HepatitisQueensland

      Hi Ragave. Thanks for your question. There is no cure for hepatitis B however there is treatment available that can help fight the virus and slow its ability to damage your liver. The medication is only needed when the virus is active. It's difficult to know when the virus is active as there are not always any signs or symptoms. This is why it is important to see your doctor and get check-ups every six months. If you would like any more information please visit our website at www.hepqld.asn.au

    Hbv normal life possible?

    • @HepatitisQueensland
      @HepatitisQueensland  2 года назад

      Thanks for the great question Ragave. There is no reason someone living with hepatitis B cannot live a normal life, There are ways to protect yourself and your loved ones. Hepatitis B is passed through blood-to-blood contact, unprotected sexual contact and from a mother with hepatitis B to her newborn baby. The best protection to prevent getting hepatitis B is to the hepatitis B vaccination (three injections over a six month period). For those who are unvaccinated practice safe sex and don’t share items that may have traces of blood on them like tweezers, razors or toothbrushes. If you would like any more info please take a look at our website www.hepqld.asn.au or call our free Infoline on 1800 437 222.

      Hi Afnan. We know that researchers are looking and there is research being done in the area of functional cure but this is still some time away. Hepatitis South Australia published an interesting article about this topic which may be of interest to you. hepatitissa.asn.au/blog/hepatitis-b-treatment-not-necessarily-a-life-long-commitment/

      Thanks for the great question Ragave. There is no reason someone living with hepatitis B cannot marry and have children together as there are ways to protect yourself and your loved ones.
      There are also ways to significantly reduce the likelihood of a mother passing the virus to her baby at birth. It's important to talk to a doctor about how to do this.
