People are getting laid off and scammers are seeing this as an opportunity to attack the vulnerable at their lowest point. Boy there are some nasty characters on this earth

Scammers have been like this since forever. I guess you've never heard of scams on elderly who's on fixed income? Scammers don't care if you're disabled or 90 years old. As long as they get their money, it's all good. It is literally survival of the fittest. Some humans just lose all that makes them human when survivability is on the line.

Tech platforms make all this possible. In the 90s when jobs had to be applied for in person this happened a total of zero times. Tech companies have made our live worse, not better.

You know the best way to avoid job scams online. Apply for jobs in person.

I was nearly scammed by the same sort of scam. they asked me for the same things that she mentioned. I gave them expired info to be cautious. I was glad that I did. I could have been out 2-3 grand had I not been extra vigilant. Job searchers, beware!

cant always stop every single scammer, they are a very credible source, these scammers that got through are really good. Cant blame the sites people should know to take extra precaution when given such information about yourself. there are ways to protect yourself and respond to figure out if they are real or not.

They are credible. I've found jobs working for fortune 500 companies using these sites. People need to educate themselves. No legit employer is going to ask for your credit card number. No legit company is going to ask you to buy your own equipment. No legit employer will be asking for you to provide copies of your ID unless it's for the completion of your I9 (which you have to provide 2 proofs of identity for), which they aren't going to ask you to complete until you've accepted their offer because background checks and verifications cost time and money.

I nearly got scammed, they used a real company, had multiple people etc.. but I thought something was fishy. So I told the woman I was instead going to apply directly on the businesses website. She panicked and tried to stop me 🤣

Been getting Indian calls about contractor jobs recently and after they asked for social and information I was like, NOPE. let the hiring manager talk to me and call me and we can set up an in person meeting (that ended that very quickly).

    It’s always Indians -
1 Ask them where they are calling from.
2 Ask them what time it is there.
3 ask them to verify the company name again.
4 see if they’ve hung up yet
5 don’t send your resume, send the info of someone you hate

"The scammed have become Soooo sophisticated!" I mean... not really.. all they did was ask for photos of the front and back of your I.D. along with the front and back of your debit/credit card, why would you be giving that information to someone who you've never even SEEN in person before??

Living under capitalism is being yelled at by your employer that if you’re not happy get a new job and then looking for a new job and having your identity or something stolen because we can’t have anything nice without another 10 people trying to scan their way into money just like every other millionaire billionaire.

If it's too good to be true, it probably is. Use common sense people! A legit employer will not ask you to pay for equipment, it is provided. A legit employer is not going to ask for a copy of you ID unless it's for your I-9 (which you also have to provide a second proof of identity) or your job requires driving company cars/trucks. A legit employer is not going to ask for your credit card number. They may perform credit checks depending on the job, but you can leave a note on the application letting them know you do not feel comfortable providing your SSN this early in the application process...are people this dense?!

This is due to a lack of access to resources, education, and opportunities that are readily available to those with higher socioeconomic status. Additionally, systemic issues such as discrimination and unequal distribution of wealth further perpetuate this cycle of poverty.

It's just common sense. People should not provide any information beyond their name only after talking to the interviewers and have received an offer so they can do I-9s.

    • @Hokie5Libra82
      @Hokie5Libra82 Год назад

@christianc6941 thank you! You don't give out that information until you received an offer and a legit company woll not ask for that information until you've accepted that offer. Then they complete their background checks and verifications (I9). I'm amazed that people don't know this or how this process works. You should not be giving out PII (such as SSNs, credit card numbers, DL numbers, EINs) on job applications! And no legit company will ask for your CC number or ask for you to buy your own equipment.
