To answer your question I think the thing that sets Chika apart is that she has a more traditional sound, whereas most of the female freshmen in the past have been more tuned into the current wave. Some of her music reminds me of Lauryn Hill, with the more soulful production and the way she switches between singing and rapping. I also think she's the first female (or rapper in general) on xxl to be openly bisexual and talk about those themes in her music along with other personal topics. I love cyphers where rappers will shout each other out which why I loved the chemistry in the Rico/Cordae/Blueface cypher last year: "they say he so classy/but i just wanna be poppin like rico nasty" and "Now my new girl claimin' that I'm too racist/ 'Cause I don't really like green, only Bluefaces". It just puts a smile on my face when I hear that. So 24goldn shouting out everyone in his verse this year was really cool.
