  • Our last study examined verses 20 - 27 of Chapter 3 in Mark's Gospel. This episode of Mark's Gospel begins with Jesus choosing the remainder of the twelve disciples, those who would be with Him and ultimately be sent out to spread the Gospel, except Judas Iscariot, the betrayer. The story then moves on with Jesus returning home to be met by His immediate family who have come to "take custody of Him" because the word is likely spreading that the higher-ups are not too pleased with the Messiah. The plot thickens as the scribes have "come down from Jerusalem," declaring, "He is possessed." In this short period, Christ has been labeled as crazy and possessed. Our last study ended with Christ addressing the absurdity of the scribe's declaration that He is possessed and casting out demons by the ruler of demons. He declares the apparent answer to how Satan can cast out Satan; He wouldn't. Christ says that He is the stronger man who binds Satan and plunders his kingdom.
Today, we will complete chapter 3, verses 28 - 35.
