Definitely agree with the acquirement of possessions over time demands vigilance as a means to stand the test of time; making the purchase for sure 'yours'/DIY/leaving a mark of your existence/showing tenderness for anything tangible: a reflection of something we admire as a token of excellence in the arts, in technology, and in the experience of life...
I don't know how I feel about this documentary. A) I don't understand why we (humans) always have this feeling that things need to have a purpose/meaning - why can't anything just BE. Why can't clothes just be fun and playful and fashionable?? B) This technology stuff kinda scares me, aren't we already to connected to technology as it is, with our smartphones and Facebook updates, chat groups, online shopping etc etc... now we are putting chips in our clothes to? I don't know if I want EVERY aspect of my life to land on the internet for other people to look at - we are all losing our privacy so fast and we don't even realize it!
i must agree on the part with technology ...well i doubt that your shirt in the future will connect itself to the Internet and update your Facebook status. also as Humans we have the need to evolve , to create , to grow to understand. if someone has not got a purpose or meaning for his own life , would it not rather be just plain boring? i am just saying..... :) have a nice meaningfull day
I think what you meant is that these things are not keeping us humane? I think it is more humane to discover the potential on what God has given us. If we just stay as we are, we're pretty much just stuck up apes ahhahah but I completely agree on that internet thing you said.
Well my mind was just blown. I'm a fashion design student and my college pushes for sustainability but in an industry that is built on excess the idea can seem contradicting. There are over 7 billion people on this planet. You know how many people there were before the Industrial Revolution? Not over 7 billion. I, personally, used slow fashion in my everyday life. I find unique pieces which compliment my body and style anywhere from Goodwill to For Love and Lemons to Minimale Animale to independent Australian and Hawaiian designers whom genuinely treat their customers with the quality they deserve. I enjoy repairing, mending, hemming, or altering clothing when I can by hand or sewing machine. Yet, at the end of the day, there are over 7 billion people on this planet. Minimum wage for the U.S. states won't reach even $10 by 2017...and inflation grows every year. There are countless models, designers, and workers who will lose their careers or jobs over slow fashion. We need to begin focusing on these advances in fashion and also spend less time producing while being paid a livable income. We need to produce less per season with better quality garments which will last years, we need to pay workers a livable income based off of education, and we should stop running people into the ground by working 8 hr shifts a only $7-$8 per hour. Everyone would have a higher standard of living. Minimum wage has never stood the effects of inflation. I can easily drop $300 on a Tiffany necklace or $350 on a dress. That's junk change now-a-days, but not everyone can afford it. Even with fast fashion. No one is living good quality, anymore, and couture is on the verge of extinction.
***** Sorry, its a bit late but I finally wrote about the film. Please visit my blog and have a look. Hope you guys like it :) journeyofadreamcatcher.blogspot.in/2015/01/the-future-of-clothing-innovative-step.html
Throughout history all over this planet, people who understand clothes the most and best understand that the best clothing is made of natural fiber. Ideally organic fiber. Ideally custom made. This is why most wealthy people favor natural fiber custom made clothing. And, I hope, always will.
Loved it. I hope the world will become as they say, more mindful about the earth by making those kind of fabrics. Or imitations of what we are already using. Especially things we are using from animals, they suffer a high amount of injustice and cruelty from the world as it is. We need to wake up and this is one way of doing it. Great great movie, cant wait to see what the future of this brilliancy will show us how to wear new beautiful clothing.
This was an incredible way to give a new direction to people point of view! as a Engineering & innovation management major i have to admit you may just have given me the best direction of the future i would choose for me. thank you AEG from new zealand

Hope all those massive clothing retailers take some action to reduce waste that's harming our world, hope those consumers realize what they're doing supporting the machine that's hurting the world... hope each and every individual could care more for our world.
Watched in April 2020, the film remains highly relevant. Things have not changed a bit likely with fast fashion and consumers' vibe on fashion, except that the 'buying more" tide of consumers from emerging economies

brilliant! this should be shared with all current designers, high fashion or niche, students aiming to become designers and mass, mainstream brands. and all people who look to fashion only for what it does for them, but disregarding its impact on the planet

Great video! I've been pondering with the idea of what innovations the fashion industry can offer that will impact society and the world in a positive manner; this video definitely captured the essence of what I envision, while showcasing things that blew my mind. Also the video was shot excellently!
Excellent documentary! Btw to let know; its true that first world countries want quality clothing at cheaper price but it costs blood shed hard work to the garment workers of third world countries. Moreover these workers don't even get paid enough for all days hard work & night shifts; the pay is so less. Yes people are spending a lot of money on clothing but these people hardly receive the share of it. You can't call this a quality process but this is how it works. I wish I could see this changing
Thank you for your thoughtful comment. The points you brought to the table is one of the reasons why we feel we need to think a step further when it comes to fast fashion. Thank you for watching and for your contribution to the discussion.
me gustó el documental, sobre todo la integración de la biología y la tecnología digital en la ropa, punto aparte: la voz de la narradora era desagradable, como si lo que dijera fuera obvio. gracias
14:20 seems like the material would be well suited as an alternative to plastic and leather bags and shoes. I would be interested to hear about its' durability.
A lot of these clips rested on the question of fast fashion. However, we need to have a world perspective when it comes to fast fashion and definition of fast fashion. People always wants quality clothes but in a cheap price. As a fashion student, I learned tthat it doesn't work that way. Another thing is the designs of these fast fashion garment. It is always similar to each other ssuch another jacket or another t-shirts with a change of fabric and neck line. In my opinion, it is best to do a PR about the inside work of fashion design. You have designers, then the patternmakers, sample sewers and so forth.
Thank you for watching the film and sharing these insights! It's true that many people want quality at a cheap price, which doesn't necessarily go hand-in-hand. That's why our focus is to care for the garments you already own by using the best laundering processes possible. Glad to see the film resonated with you!
Aleksandra Cicha Thanks Aleksandra, glad you liked it. Learn more about the film by watching our extended interviews: ruclips.net/video/U-gsVCbtpv4/видео.html

I really enjoed this documentation and wanted to write about it for the student's magazine at my university. Is it possible to publicate some screenshots of the film along with the article? Thank you very much!
Wow as an emerging designer and being a pescatarian I will being to design with more eco friendly products, we have to begin to make the change so that our children and children's children will have a planet to exist on and clean air and water to drink. Veey eye opening. I have also heard of dying fabric naturally with fruit. Would love to try this soon. So many questions
This is a good film but couldve been a lot better but focusing more on the real and near future. The 3D printed fashion could've been more in depth than lady gaga costume and how it can be applied to real fashion. There were so many more designers left out who have shown much much more promising potential such as creating machines that can weave 3D both in woven and knits eliminating waste. The eco part was much of the same, it couldve focused more on this new gas dry dye concept. Over all the film was interesting in art and concept but doesn't deliver as much usable information to apply the real question of "what is the real future of the trillion dollar apparel industry"
Hello lakshmi. You can use the machine for machine dyes, of course - just be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions. You can shop online at AEG.com. Thanks for watching!
The whole documentary didnt open the main idea on that the clothing of the future will be not only esthetically various but also it has to be sensitive, self cleanable and adaptive for any condition and temperature and will be able to satisfy people in perspective of being comfy and smart

This is an absolutely fantastic documentary, it was well put-together with the titles and narrations. It was also informative and very inspiring! SO SO SOO GOOD!
Adrian Soble Thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed the film. Have you watched all the extended interviews yet? More content here: ruclips.net/video/U-gsVCbtpv4/видео.html
brilliant! this should be shared with all current designers, high fashion or niche, students aiming to become designers and mass, mainstream brands. and all people who look to fashion only for what it does for them, but disregarding its impact on the planet

Great video!
I've been pondering with the idea of what innovations the fashion industry can offer that will impact society and the world in a positive manner; this video definitely captured the essence of what I envision, while showcasing things that blew my mind.
Also the video was shot excellently!
@Keller Paris here is the French version of the film The Next Black - The Future of Clothing - FR
+AEG does it give a german version ? :)
+Kito Memo Yes! You can watch the German version here. ruclips.net/video/kw6C7Zj3t9g/видео.html Enjoy!
Thank you for watching and for your contribution to the discussion.
this is really a revolution of clothing n ppl r actually think more, for the earth, for human
me gustó el documental, sobre todo la integración de la biología y la tecnología digital en la ropa, punto aparte: la voz de la narradora era desagradable, como si lo que dijera fuera obvio. gracias
14:20 seems like the material would be well suited as an alternative to plastic and leather bags and shoes. I would be interested to hear about its' durability.
Beautifully presented overview of current developments in clothing and textiles, really enjoyed this !
Lorcan Mak Thanks so much! Have you seen the extended interviews from the film? Here's the one with Studio XO ruclips.net/video/KxTHqMSxZRo/видео.html
What are the fonts used in this film? I love them and want to download them, but I'm unable to find them.
At 4:19 is that part of a full video or was it specifically made for this? I'd love to see the whole video if it's available somewhere else.
Hi! This is a separate video created by one of the film's stars, Studio XO. Here is a link to the full video: Skin Sucka Thanks for watching!

i subbed to you, sub back me please.
great, well researched piece! i especially liked the part on supercritical carbon dioxide. wow, where did you find that? absolutely amazing!
Really interesting documentary however I kept asking myself how to wash such organic clothes? I feel like they dissolve once they touch the water
I really enjoed this documentation and wanted to write about it for the student's magazine at my university. Is it possible to publicate some screenshots of the film along with the article?
Thank you very much!
Cách hát của Phúc hiện đại, tinh tế và mang hơi hướng Kpop nhưng lại rất ấm áp, dịu dàng...1 ca khúc tuyệt vời ❤
Not to be missed..insightfully essential...like clothing itself still.
Thank you for your feedback C P :)
perfect video, apart from that Patagonia was accused many times in using toxic substances in manufacturing thier clothing..
I didn't expect this document to be so good.
Beautiful documentary
If I wanted to get involved in the broad science of sustainable clothing, what major should I aim for in college?
Amazing ,
Ingenious !
Thank you AEG from this document.
I love this! The intro was break taking!
+ForevrFloral 13 Thanks for watching!
I like the idea of bending the colour properties of my suit when I connect it to my phone. Thanks for sharing.
Can't wait for this future to come out true.
This is a really great documentary, may I know who is the film director ?
very nice video - what camera was it shot in :)?
Lo hemos recomendado a todos nuestros alumnos, ¡gracias!
Hi, is there a French dubbed version available soon?
Dry dyeing method without using water IS inspiring?? do any company use the machine for dyeing?? where can we get that machine ??please reply AEG
What is the song playing in the credits? I love it.
