You can learn to play it - slowly! Technically, it's one of Tommy's easier pieces to play. But to play it fast like him - well, no way! Only Tommy can do that!
well it is very fast. But if you start at a slower rate and work out the notes one by one and play it for a long time so it becomes muscle memory. Because if you try to learn it at a fast pace then you will make mistakes. And if you repeat them they will become muscle memory. And you will eventually end up always playing it with mistakes and never fixing them.
Tommy Emmanuel "live" at the Ryman - Tommy's "fiddle tune." I've seen him perform this twice here in Winnipeg. He must have made a mistake, then and now, but I can't spot it, can you? A finger-style giant, this is played with one of his flat picks. It's not just the speed, it's the shading; the dynamics of loud & soft that no guitarist has ever achieved before. As Sinatra said of Astaire, "You can wait around a hundred years, and you'll never see (hear) the likes of this again." Thanks Tommy Emmanuel for sharing this one! It's amazing to see that even as he gets older, he gets more and more relaxed as he plays. Just shows that 10 hours a day of hard work pays off. God bless this man, he continues to inspire musicians like me to work all day everyday.
@@mrplitsum Where have you heard that? Yes, he says that he oftentimes runs through songs, etc. to keep his chops up, but he very much clearly states again and again that it takes him a lot of work to maintain his physical skills on the instrument. He also says that he practices improvising often. He's been saying and showing these things in interviews and tv shows for decades by now. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to tell you off here, or anything, I'm just genuinely wondering where you heard him say that he doesn't practice.
@@mrplitsum He's probably addressing the need to be inspired to play at the rate he does. This is something I've heard him say in more interviews than I'll ever try to count. He can't just sit down and play out of a strict discipline like alot of classical and jazz players can. He draws on inspiration to play as much as possible. Hence why he talks about always putting on and playing to records (Chet's, Djangos, etc), or listening to ones to write new ideas for his own compositions. He's been a strong advocate on drawing on what is already existent and learning/studying from that, more so than just doing random technical exercises that contains hardly any artistic value (until put in context). But the fact stands that he'll spend heavy hours a day on all mentioned. I talked with Joe Robinson once about his personal experiences with Tommy on tour. Before and after shows, he'd have his guitar with him, always. He'd play a 2 hour set then go to his hotel room and Joe would wake up in the early hours of the morning and still hear him practicing in the next room. So, it's safe for me to conclude that he truly does average well above the norm of typical practice. I've met Tommy many times, and been to his camps, I've NEVER once had a conversation or ever seen him (besides when he's eating) without a guitar on his back or in his hands. That's how you know the man is glued to it, and always has been.
Hey now I think that's going a bit far. Tommy is a god. No question there, but there is room for more than one deity in the proverbial rock pantheon \m/
"..no fingerpicker can touch him either" - You have a point, but it's not literally true. There are some people who have technical ability at this level. Martin Taylor for example, someone who plays/played with Tommy a lot. His technical abilities are nearly unmatched. And his musical achievements are greater - admittedly a loaded word - than Tommy.
2:13 One of the few times I've ever seen TE actually fully concentrate on what he's playing. Reminds me of Roy Clark playing malaguena on the 12 string. Love it!
God he's amazing, I'm glaring at my guitar as though it's the instrument's fault I can barely play a few chords ... also, when TE goes totally superhuman around 1:28 he flicks his tongue in and out like a crazy frog lmao
please mr. tommy visit india once... i dont know how much your fans in india ...but i am the only one who is waiting for your concert in india ....truly love you sir
It's a great new album,I enjoy the energy and excitement of Tommy's performance on this recording. I love the way he makes old classic's sparkle with new life again."Deep river blues" and "Nine pound hammer" are fine great examples of this. Great work Tommy, I love it.
JP ... the funniest thing about Buddy Rich is his Face..That Country Music remark he made speaks volumes to his total ignorance , arrogance and absolute stupidity...
And that fellow guitarists is why he is the greatest on the planet.
His fingers can move faster than my ears can listen.
No problem ... you can slow it down. I just listened at 1/2 speed.
Ha ha, that's brilliant.
Fantastic!!!!! There's another song I'll not be able to play
ha ha you're not alone.
Best review I ever read!!!
Did the review help me in my decision to buy or not?
Yes: it helped me to decide ;)
You can learn to play it - slowly! Technically, it's one of Tommy's easier pieces to play. But to play it fast like him - well, no way! Only Tommy can do that!
David Turpin Sure you can. Just at a much slower tempo!

Who needs a band when you have the talent of this man? If given the chance do not miss this man in concert!
Not only fast, but clean. Tommy is the man.
When he started playing faster about half way through, all I could say was "Stop it Tommy, that's way too dirty!!!" Lol. So much fun.
HAHAHAHA
internstarz!! Gawd, I busted right out loud laughing, "Way to Dirty" Fabulous!! Loved it!
Seen him rthree times live, What a guy!

Wow! This man is gonna be a big musician when he gets older.
dont disrespect the legendary guitarist of all time

I can never get sick of hearing this guy play. Definitely on the list of big inspirations. So skillful, and diverse.

Which 10 hours. He😂says he doesn't practice

@@dotanoob2k in an Interview lately. He said. I'm not one of those people who can sit down and practice. I've never done that. That's what he said.

Deadset Legend ,mate!
✌️☮️❤️ 🇦🇺🍻
I'm not even sure that the price of my soul would make me that good.
No rock shredder or bluegrass flatpicker has anything on Tommy. Incredible.
Mike Orlando might be able to pull this off. He's basically inhuman. I get what you mean though. Tommy is one of the best for sure!
well Tommy may be one of the best or if not the best acoustic guitar player
but Guthrie Govan is the master on electric, the real Double G

The scary thing is, no fingerpicker can touch him either

Not with me either! : )
1:15-2:22 TE was ON FIRE. I literally think I saw smoke coming from his guitar. Unbelievable.
He played it so fast but didn't lost the groove! That's what I am talking about!
Tommy, you are faster than my 1998 Renault Clio!
Tommy Emmanuel showing why he's one of the best there's ever been.
Tommy Emanuel is my lord and savior... I am not worthy... Though I try..

All this energy....
It's off the freaking roof.
Oltre al fatto di essere un eccesso chitarrista, mi piace perché sorride sempre.
Just when you think it couldn't possibly get any faster, Tommy proves you wrong. I couldn't even stomp my foot that fast. LOL
