The original dates from at least around 1700, in the time of Queen Anne and the War of the Spanish Succession and possibly earlier. :)

according to the songwriter, they got a lute player play all these wonderful compositions.
If you search lute tuning in RUclips will find this seems an 12 course (23 strings) baroque lute.
