I have a suggestion for a trilogy I would love for you to react to. It's an old one, but a great one. The Hesei Gamera Trilogy is considered by many to be one pf of not the best giant monster movie series ever. It's surprisingly well made for its time. It would be amazing if you checked it out considering it is getting its own anime very soon.

a fun fact about harley as a character is that she never originated from the comics. She was first introduced in Batman the animated series just to be jokers right hand man/arm candy but people ended up liking her so much she was developed from there. My fave iteration of Harley besides Margot is definitely the animated Harley Quinn show with kaley cuoco it’s absolutely hilarious and really delves into her character.
I honestly enjoy this movie… is it a good movie? No. But it’s a fun watch, the soundtrack matches the cinematography well, the cast was great for the most part.
I mean, it's a good movie when you cut out the DC part in your brain.
And Margot Robbie as Harley carries one through. She did such an amazing job in both of the films.

Will Smith and Margot Robbie were absolute highlights, and while the movie was fun enough, it was fairly so-so all told.
i loved their chemistry in Focus and i loved their chemistry in here

This version of Killer Croc is fairly accurate to his original depiction in the 1980s. He started off as a mobster with a skin condition, and he didn't become a literal monster until later stories.
And I don't feel the need for elaborate backstories for most of these characters. I'm not convinced that a film like Predator would be significantly better if we knew the elaborate histories of every last member of Schwarzenegger's team. Same thing applies here.

I definitely love the extended cut so much more than the theater one because it gives more interaction between the characters and a better understanding of who they are, or at least the main ones. It really makes me wonder about what the director's original version would have been like. Harley and Deadshot are the standout stars of the group, but they also needed a better antagonist, like Thor did in his first two movies.
I think the studio execs wanted this to be D.C.'s answer to a Marvel movie, but they missed out on all the important points of characterization and team building that Marvel does in between and during all the action, and instead they replaced it with more action and great music. That's why this version is better - because they put some of that back in. It's like when you wondered what Harley did besides being crazy; in this version you can see how she still has her psychology skills, and sometimes she uses them to play with people and sometimes she uses them to build people up... plus she's really smart and she uses it to quickly assess a situation and act on it. I also think the director had something bigger planned with Joker and Harley, but my guess would be that it was pretty dark and so the execs nixed it.
I still love watching the extended cut and I'll watch the Ayers cut if it's ever done.

@@hatakeanime1254 fax we finally now have a great suicide squad movie and an ACTUAL ACCURATE ONE.
A couple of things. First; Harley is there not because she has powers but because she is expendable and Waller can assume deniability. Remember - all of these people were labeled terrorists an they are all known criminals. If they die, or Waller kills them, no one is going to bat an eye.
Second; it might not seem like the Squad can fight the big monster but that isn't why they were deployed. They were deployed to assist in extracting a high value target - Waller. They didn't know what they were doing or why. The deal was do it and live and you get time off. Their need to know stops right there.
Why wouod they need to extract her? Because wasn’t she the one that got herself in trouble in the first place?
@@complex2live That's irrelevant. She's in control and that was the job that she gave them. Whether or not she is the cause of her situation has no impact on the parameters of that job.
I think if we count that the take on the Joker is insane in this one, Leto does his best to be an insane person. But as you said Joker's mostly the "I'm always 10 steps ahead of you" guy, but he's insane too, i think this joker only has the insanity part. (Edit: That's the fun part in Joker, you can't see who he is, or does he has a plan, but Leto's version is not that comlicated, I think even he doesen't know what is he doing or why, and I think that most of the Jokers are aware of what are they doing it doesen't need a purpose)
El Diablo is my personal favorite, but again whit a lot of characters in this movie we don't get enough of him, they should've done more of him, he's a great character, just didn't get enough time to develop.
And in my opinion Harley is done perfectly, all of the other characters not so well

With Joker you're not supposed to pin him down, he's chaos, unpredictable. You can't tell if he's crazy or playing crazy, if he likes you or is going to kill you. Leto did just fine for me. More of him would have been nice though.

I like Leto's version because it's different, like I love Phoenix's version too and all of the versions. Somebody can be crazy and still be ahead of you
I like that version but Leto's Joker is not just crazy he's worst. You can't predict what he does but it seems like even he doesen't know it, he's too crazy. Other Jokers seem saner than hes..
It gave us Margot's iconic and amazing Harley Quinn so, also Viola as Amanda Waller (so amazing).
It's no where near as bad as what people were trying to make it out to be, but it wasn't as good as it could've been either. I'm more gutted that they changed so much of what Ayer originally wanted to do. The tone of the original trailer, compared to what was released, is night and day difference.
Birds of Prey (2020) also has an epic cast🃏

I personally love this movie even if it’s bad. I love Harley she’s so fun. It’s hilarious and I think Jared Leto’s Joker was quite fun too

It was an okay movie. Not one of my favorites but if it’s on, I’ll watch it instead of turning it. I do see how people could hate it, but I just don’t take it seriously. It’s kinda meant to be unrealistic and once you’re okay with the silliness,it’s pretty entertaining.

There's a lot more to harley. Joker never loved her. He loved the idea of her. He made her lose her mind. He was fascinated by how blindly she loves and follows him. She will jump off the bridge for him. But he wouldn't do the same. Like in the coming he's way more abusive and she sees it as love. Only when she falls in love with poison ivy does she starts seeing more clearly but joker still stays in her heart
Her mind was already lost because she was attracted to him and helped him escape before she was thrown in the fucking acid. She might be more capable of love than the joker but she’s still a sadistic psychotic immoral person - only people like that would want to be with the joker.
Pros: Harley Quinn.
Cons: Joker & belly dancing witch.

Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) 🤩 The scene in the water (Harley in the car) is a real scene. She trained to hold is breath for too long (Amazing)
I think it’s a little overhated. It’s nowhere near as bad as Josstice League is. At least this has some charm and room to breathe in the back half.
Still, this was not the version we were promised. Given what was originally planned for Joker/ Harley it’s absurd they went for a loving relationship. Hoping to see the Ayer cut one day. The snippets we’ve seen from it are already better.

It’s objectively a bad movie. There’s enough videos out there that explain why that is with factual film making and writing techniques that are either poorly used or not used at all.
That doesn’t mean you can’t like it. Like it all you want. Just be honest with yourself on what you’re liking.

Phil Jackson is NBA coach that gets the most out of his players using psychological planning/motivations. Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Shaq played for Jackson at different times/teams.

Also, Deadshot is known in the comics for going toe to toe with Batman just as Bullseye is known as one of Daredevil's deadliest enemies.
You can’t put your mind into too much realism with these types of films especially with human characters. I mean Black Widow fighting Thanos, etc.
It's not impossible like for black widow to fight Thanos like she quick flexible good with weapons and Thanos is fat big he bleeds he not so skilled he mostly a hard to beat guy cause of his gontlet

Yeah, same. I'm not very fond of Jared Leto, but his Joker was not nearly as bad as ppl hailed it to be. I actually liked it. Bashing this movie and this joker version is a "trend"
People still like Jack Nicholson/Juaquin Phoenix and they aren't Heath. I think Leto could have been a good Joker, but I just couldn't take him seriously at any point because of the corny writing that fills this movie.
@@ReconWafflez ok well I’m certainly not going to defend the writing of this film but I think the scene where he “makes” Harley was an awesome and the only redeemable scene in the film. Jack Nicholson came before heath and Phoenix was so far removed from the mythology that people questioned if he was the actual joker. Not a great argument.
When this came out I remember a big let down was that there was so much promotion done using Joker and then he was only a side character and half his scenes got cut. It lead a lot of people into thinking he was the main villain of the movie that suicide squad was going to have to fight against and Harley being there is what made it interesting. But then the theatrical on its own left a lot ppl feeling weird about. The soundtrack smacked tho!
Diablo never meant to burn his wife and kids... he got incredibly angry, and lost control of his own power.
The equivalent to Deadshot in marvel would probably be bullseye. Who also premiers in daredevil!

I remember hearing that Jared sent people dead mice during production and he did method acting. His joker is by far the worst one ever. Walmart bargain bin Heath Ledger. I liked this movie when it came out and I attempted to dress up as Harley for Halloween in middle school. Some of the movie is good and some of it is bad. I enjoyed this reaction. Keep up the good work :)
I think he did fine. Everyone wants to compare it to ledger. Imo heath ledger's joker was the best and always will be. So if we are gonna get more joker gonna have to stop comparing it to that.

This movie for me is the #1 example of how trailers can be misleading; Great trailers, shit movie.
wb reshoots the movie and hired trailer company to do editing. David Ayer never did montage and pop music in his movies, go watch fury (2014) that's what tone and style he did with his Ayer's cut

I have honestly always like this version of Joker, I thought he looked awesome and I loved the way he talked and acted. Also his laugh was very unique and fit him perfectly. He is no where near as good as Ledger tho

10:26 that. That's exactly it. This joker is much more chaotic, less of a mastermind. Definitely psychotic. I personally thought it was a fun interpretation and really enjoyed it for what it was. No one's going to live up to Heath. But Jared Leto definitely gave crazy, really dangerous, vibes.
It's a damn shame that wb cut all of his jokes and morbidly funny stuff he says and does. I really want to see the scene where a judge finds him in bed instead of his wife.

I put off watching this until about a month ago. I really wasn’t too sure I’d like it but honestly found it pretty entertaining. Not sold on Leto as the Joker but to be fair Heath Ledger will always be my favorite.

When I watch a movie all I ask for is that it entertains me. This one succeeded. There were many flaws but it could be a lot worse. Harley Quinn was amazing and I really liked El Diablo

@@ignroad nah, Justice League was better than all of phase 1 (apart from Ironman), all of phase two (except guardians of the galaxy and winter soldier, but that’s personal taste) better than doctor strange and black panther and it was better than most of phase four except no way home and Shang chi.
I wonder if we'll ever see The Ayer Cut? It will apparently be much more in line with what the original trailer was offering before it was reverse engineered into something more akin to Guardians of the Galaxy or Deadpool with the quips and needle drops.
Time will tell, I guess.

For me the Joker, the military aspect, the need for a song every few minutes, the over sexualisation go Harley Quinn, the terrible dialogue, the rushing of plot and boring characters really stopped me from liking the film.

My understanding is that the extended cut isn’t the Director’s Cut the Ayer Cut campaign wanted. It still has the some of the same flaws the theatrical cut had but with deleted scenes. Flaws like Cara’s bad acting as the Enchantress.
Harley has superhuman strength, toxic immunity, she can gag weapons, gymnastics but like insanely good, martial arts, weaponry that’s why she’s so good with weapons, and people forget she’s not an idiot she was a psychiatrist and she has superhuman reflexes
Now if you wanna see an actually good Harley Movie, you should watch Birds of Prey!
In fact Harley love Chaos and sometimes she provoc that chaos just because she's bored i mean she's a child after her jump in the acid, i think suicide squad is a good movie to introduce her, oh and that scene with the motorcycle is here to show that even without being totally crazy Harleen already have a lot of gymnic abilities that's why she survived two plane crashes..
Harley was a crazy psycho before the acid. Joker didn’t make her that way nor did the acid. Only a crazy psycho would fall in love with the joker.

I think the reason the villains are going “easy” on them, is because they are used to people just being afraid or submitting to their power. So they aren’t good fighters, because no one’s ever actually fought them. They ruled the world back when humans weren’t as advanced as they are today.
