i am really glad that i come up with this idea, i don't mind to level my die holder to get a straight cut. the hardest part of building this that the drill chuck needs to be in center with the die holder.

Excellent idea, something that anyone can make to get a perfect straight thread, even when they don't have a lathe.
So good... Id like to see a version with a shorter chuck.
Getting a straight start on a thread is super tricky and never really perfect, love this method.

Brilliant! Thanks for sharing the idea. I've actually bent and broke two tap and die holders. I have everything except the welder, at least until in about two weeks. Then, I'll be making that threader.
It works, this is easier.
Chuck a gasoline engine valve stem in your drill press and the stock in the vise, use the valve to press the diestock flat while starting.
I hated threading rods, but now I guess I'll like it :)

wow. Hell of an idea ! just today, i was attempting to thread a 1/2 inch electric motor shaft, to install a chuck. The threads were uneven, as the shaft had a flat spot for pulley setscrew. (i may weld that over, run the motor, and use angle grinder to shape it perfectly round) i also have spare chucks, which, i may convert one of the best ones, (NOT PLASTIC crap) into this type of threader, but will choose a slightly different method of attaching threadmaker handle to it. THANK YOU too much, from Alberta canada.

most already have this feature three thumb screws on die head but people don,t know and turn screws up instead of down
Screw a bolt into the die and tighten the chuck. Then weld it. Easy way to center it.
Even the chickens know this is a great idea. Good work!

My dies are not that high quality. They are just good in mild steel
I bought a famous branded round dies made in Germany at an expensive price but when I tried to make a screw on the Stainless Steel axles it couldn't either
