....remember in the 60s living in Leura experienced the Zig Zag journey a unique and memorable rail line. Hope all future participants enjoy the service.
At 0:32 . While the Zig Zag route taken may be 154 years old. The train consisting if the locomotive and carriages would be around only 80 to 110 years old and imports from Queensland. 154 year old equipment is very rare in Australia and none is in regular operation.
They all need a hip-hip-Hoorah. Fantastic. I once took the train from Zermatt to Gornergrat and was more amazed by the enginneering that got us there rather than the sights (Matterhorn), Who does this work??? How ??
Rather interesting comparison to East Broad Top in USA. Both narrow gauge steam railways. Both fell dormant in early 2010s with steam finally returning on both lines in 2023 after much hard work. Remember first learning about this railway on wikipedia and seeing what happened with the fires. So glad its finally back up and running!
I was there today. Great to see but freaking cold 8c. It’s good to see how many people were there, most will also stop at the other small businesses around the mountains, most of which are starting to get over the last bushfires and then the “flu thing”.
Really great news. What an amazing job the volunteers have done !
Keeping history alive. Beauty! G-day mate!
