Thank you for taking the time to make the video for us cougar drivers I'm a beginner to mechanics and it's hard to find videos on cougar's anything and everything helps.
Hoping that you still monitor this channel - I've got a 2000 V6 2.5L manual...having the alternator and high pressure power steering hose replaced this week, but it also needs valve cover gaskets. I can't find ANYONE online who's done that on a cougar, or even with a Duratec V6 in the same config. Have you done that, or have any tips for going about it?
I have a 01 V6 does the ignition coil sit the same way as the 99-00 bc my ignition cable is sitting facing the front of the car and yours sits toward the back. Was it placed on backwards by previous owners
U are awesome. My 99 cougar had bad misfire when i bought it. They had the coil pack on backwards and wires all jacked up in wrong spots. And ty for pointing out plugs 5 and 6. Well made video man!!!
Have you replaced your timing belts/chain yet...I have 230,000 on my 2001 cougar .....belts sound ok but was wondering if your going to do any major engine maint soon....also if you do a headlight removal id be liken that...thx for the videos..
+c dawg No my timing chain is good for now but i will do more engine work and deep engine work videos at that, making my channel the complete visual guide for 8th generation cougars. Funny you said that because the updated videos i will be coming out soon with are head lamp/head lights removals, alternator, cluster, and steering wheel removal.
hi Mordecai, I have a friend with a '99 Cougar 2.5l V6 manual tranny and he's having trouble getting his speedometer and techometer working. says he thinks the problems are electrical, suspects wiring harness. Suggestions to solve problems and make car pass safety inspection?
I have a 2001 mercury cougar and have had the fuel pump replaced but wanted to know if your car does what mine does. Does it drive ok one day and when you park it you go the next day and it doesn't get spark it turns over but does not start?
+Allyson August It could be any different factors that may cause the engine to crank up but not turn at some days. The list can range from ignition coil, spark plugs, alternator, starter, Fly wheel, fuel pump, fuel injectors. But i advise you to start with the easy and simple ones first for process of elimination before heading up to the more complex fixes. Is your check engine light on? check your battery to see if its not dying and losing it cells, if it good but always have mid to low charge then its your alternator (common issue on cougars). If both is good move up too your spark plugs. Have you done a tune up yet? If not i recommend you doing so. Then if problem persist it might be ignition coil pack that needs replacement. If thats good then check to see if your fuel pump is working (common issue on cougars) if that is working fine then check to see your fuel injectors are working properly. Then if all that checks out good check your starter (it might be stuck at times causing it to not grab the flywheel to turn over the car. Or its the flywheel and its missing its teeth fot it to grab onto the starter.
I do have a question, I own a 2000 V6 2.5L Cougar, and have replaced the battery, starter, alternator, fuel pump, and the crank shaft sensor, and yet the car will not turn over and have been unable to get a spark. Any possible solutions?
scotnoah that means your sunroof motor is working fime but one of your sunroof tracks are broken. This week coming up i will do a video on that. Stay tune 😎
+Doug Mcgrew well yes this may be one way to help. A random misfire code usually means the air/fuel mixture is running lean. But the cause might be anything from a hard-to-find vacuum leak to dirty fuel injectors, low fuel pressure, a weak ignition coil, bad plug wires, or compression problems. Even a dirty MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor can cause a lean code and/or misfire to occur.
Nice video man, really hard to find videos about cougars,I just suscribe to your channel, keep them coming
Thanks for watching, I appreciate it.

1996 Mercury Cougar XR7 3.8l V6 misfiring cylinder 4. Trying to find out how many coils or if there is just one pack.

Melissa Hudson Sounds like he has a bad speed sensor that needs to be replaced or his cluster is bad and need to be replaced as well.

Fuel pump is leaking internally...there is a recall...on this fuel pumps have to replace it with the updated one
Before replacing this part, how was your cougar running?
It waa running poorly, poor gas mileage and my car was hesitating to accelerate into higher RPMS due to the constant misfires

+Vlad S. Have you check your Coil pack yet?
One quick qestion, does the firing order change on the 2001 v6 model?
+Marcos Fernandez from the 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002 v6 have the same firing order
Mordicai Zerkhan - Cougar Repairs oh alright, thanks bro👌
Btw i have a sunroof problem where it makes noise but doesnt move like its off track or something. Any suggestions
scotnoah that means your sunroof motor is working fime but one of your sunroof tracks are broken. This week coming up i will do a video on that. Stay tune 😎
would this work for my 2002 v6?
Yes it definitely would.
Ty
You're welcome.
Will this help with multiple misfire
+Doug Mcgrew well yes this may be one way to help.

I replaced coil spark plugs and wires that did not help what do you think I'm clueless
Make more videos

What does it do? Does it auto lock on its on or trips the alarm system?
Great video and informative! I gave you some support by hitting the big rectangle. Please leave some for me. Thanks!
