Never knew dark country was a thing because i was never really into country nor listened to it as much, but now that i’ve come across this genre, i cant get enough of it!
It’s not, it’s called outlaw country and it’s older than the grand ole opry.
For more start with Nikki lane or hank Williams the third and suggestions will take you from there. Fair warning bout ole hanks music, it’s highly debated to be racist or not. Opinions waning on all sides. The debate ranges from the lyrics of his music to imagery chosen for albums.
It’s called gothic country too. What makes it so interesting is the concepts; they’re almost depressing songs, people who’ve had to conquer demons. Like a cowboy drinking a glass of whiskey at a saloon before he heads out on a bounty hunt.

Check out The Heavy Horses, and Jessta James. James is labelled country hip-hop/rap....but it sounds like dark country to me. Found this genre 2 years ago, and just added it to my metal/pagan/techno bagpipe etc., music list. Sixty now, and some days, it's just gotta be an old spaghetti western. Ya know? ✌😸

It's great tunes, but I can't shake the annoyance I have with the pic, and a colt walker that has a fluted cylinder, with the flutes in line with the chambers (weakening the chamber walls) and the hammer not being cocked.
