Hundreds audition, but only a select group will secure spots in the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders training camp. DCC director Kelli Finglass and head choreographer Judy Trammell oversee the intense audition process and decide which hopefuls will make the team.

Melissa going from being the struggler on the team to being a mentor and staff member of the team is proof that hard work really pays off
CMT probably picked her because she already had a contract with them. I seriously doubt Kelli and Charlotte listen to her suggestions when it comes to picking who should or should not make the team. I heard they pick the team by the time Finals is over. I also would not be surprised if CMT picks the girls for Melissa to mentor for ratings and drama. They also did a survey on the CMT Facebook page years ago about who they like or dislike seeing more on the show. The majority of people said less Melissa scenes. Plus the fact the way Melissa went after Hannah on a podcast she did a few months ago with Scott the Weatherman shows how nasty she can be. She obviously does not understand what the girls go through especially when a girl has mental health issues. Inside information was Melissa and Kitty played a role in getting Hannah cut. That shows she is not leadership material.
She only got to work with the team is because of the fame she got after the bachelor break up

I get nervous with smaller groups but can rock it infront of a big crowd. It's a thing. And I'm a classical musician.
Yup! Me too! I was a cheerleader for years and was so comfortable performing with the whole squad. But like if at practice the coach wants us to go to one by one or a few at a time to run through a routine or something I am a wreck. Your teammates are sitting watching you 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🙅🏼♀️🙅🏼♀️😳I am in shambles, heart racing fucking it up sooo bad. Lol
@@KN-op2wm It was explained to me that in your head a smaller group sees more of your mistakes. They can pick a part your errors easier. A big group is less likely to have that chance. Or at least that's what your brain theorizes. After years of dreading chair tests but loving concerts it was nice to understand where my struggle was coming from.
I was a cheerleader since I was 5 I always stood out in small and large groups I just shined better in large groups and did better in them

same for me !! if i dance infront of a small group it feels more awkward then dancing infront of a large group, so weird how that works.

My heart broke when she said she isn’t happy here. That must have been so lonely
I blame her group leader. She should've done stuff to make her whole group feel close and included: group activity that's not dancing, going out to eat. sleepovers, etc. Most of the ladies are from other places besides Dallas and miss friends and family. Kashara was great at yelling out, "Come on, Yuko!" When they were roommates and doing stuff.
@@jaehaspels9607 The other girls though may not have been from Dallas, but they did not experience the issue of a language barrier that Yuko did - not being able to communicate can feel so isolating.
@@victoriabardsley8097 Very much this. She even said that people are trying to help her, but the language barrier is isolating. I have been in a similar position to her. It can be very tough and lonely!
I’m so glad Melissa has found her calling in life. She makes an incredible addition to helping the girls in training camp. It’s been great to see how far she has came through out all the years
I think for the girls, especially the rookie candidates, having someone to talk to about training camp who has been through it is a big help for them.

It's Melissa's attitude, she's unassuming and humble but personable and confident. I watched the season Melissa first tried out and she was immediately one of my favorites.
I think she even more attractive now that she's older
I think so too, but it might also have a lot to do with makeup, hair, and fashion, changes over the last decade. I mean in the 00’s we all over waxed our eyebrows and no one knew how to contour.
I'm thinking she's in training to replace Kelly or Judy eventually.

She was very young and needed a year to mature. It was the same w/ Victoria.
Maddie had literally just graduated high school, came down to Texas from Utah with some weird hair and had no frame of reference for what the TCC process was really like. She will be the first to tell you she was a mess and needed that experience to find herself.
I’m just chilling and watching thing that pop up on my recommended as usual, and then, out of no where, I see my Japanese professor, who’s the translator at 7:30 😳

Melissa - what a transformation! Kelly/Judy/Kitty may come across as harsh at times towards the TCC, but it's clear that what they're also doing is preparing and toughening them for whatever life throws at them once they are no longer a DCC.
Melissa is a great mentor to the girls trying out for DCC. I remember how she was with Yuko, the girl from Japan.
Wow Maddie has changed so much. To think that know she's point of the triangle. She's come so far.
She grew into her face so well!
Madeline is a standout dancer...she's one of the strongest...one of my favorite dancers.
I would love to see the video of Melissa performing in the studio and on the field. I feel that would be the true journey of Melissa.

mellisa, kashara, maddie, yuko, lacey, and jinelle were my idols growing up since i wanted to be a dcc growing up more than anything 💀 even though that dream died seeing these old videos reminds me of how much i loved them back in the day
Melissa has such a sweet spirit. She is a natural and valuable mentor to these ladies.
I totally get Melissa with getting nervous in front of small groups, but not getting as nervous in larger groups. I mean I'm not a dancer or a singer or anything like that. But when I go for karaoke and there's a big group of people there, I'm not as nervous as when there's a small group. It's definitely a real thing. And my friend's that are professional musicians have sometimes said the same thing. It's because with smaller groups it's more intimate. So, I totally get where Melissa is coming from. It's for sure a thing, and completely and totally understandable.

So obviously Kelli and Judy have to think about retiring eventually. They’ve been there for decades, care deeply about the organization, and want it in good hands. Since the tv show has been such a potent force in taking the DCC to the next level, Kelli/Judy have to take that into consideration.
There were definitely many girls who went farther/did better WITHIN DCC than Melissa, but she’s the only alum with high-profile name recognition since being on two of the biggest tv franchises on primetime TV, a finalist on one and winning the other. It’s clear that her resume was taken into heavy consideration when they decided to offer her a spot on the staff and implicitly groom her to take over for Kelli. Kashara will likely take over for Judy.

@@boxblue4434 I think even Judy might be considered to take over and Dayton’s mom would be the head choreographer, if I’m remembering right I think she’s one of the assistants that just has. I know Kashara and Jennifer (I cant remember her last name but she was the last point of the triangle before Kashara) are assistant choreographers too so they do have a few options! But I don’t see Kelli retiring anytime soon though lol!

Wow it was great seeing Melissa at the beginning. Honestly I think the DCC's really helped her come into her own - Kitty too, I think was extremely important. You watch this and see how Melissa became the 'Kitty' in helping the next group. Great success story!!!
The choreographer has always been a nasty person. The way she demeans these woman is grotesque. The fact that they still have her as part of the Dallas Cowboys organization speaks volumes for their standards.
Just came here to comment on her too. She's very demeaning. I get the sense that no matter which way you answer with her, you won't win.
Just wondering why? She's tough to help them.. But thats me i have had very hard teachers that have made me better.. Yes I wanted to cry at the time but it made me stronger.
As a dancer she’s just trying to help them be the best they can
I love her she’s one my favorite coaches but definitely favorite dance coach ,she doesn’t sugar coat and helps the girls and it can make you cry but as soon you finally make connection you feel better
@@averyflores3669 no being tough and being nasty is very different. i was a competitive gymnast and i've had very strict coaches, but no coach will say stuff like "no wonder why you dont have a boyfriend" and such. its just unprofessional
