call me dumb or whatever but i love dermot and have loved Dermot for awhile, he’s a lyrical genius but i still don’t understand that lyric, could you explain it
@@braydenwhipple71 haha not dumb at all! I can’t say what it means for him, but I’ve always taken it as the person he’s perusing challenges him. So, he feels that he has try harder than usual and be a bit more clever to win her over. I think changing the lyrics keeps the same idea. Either way he wants her to want him. The run to lyric is a bit more romantic so maybe that’s why it made the final cut. Who knows, lol. Either way it’s a beautiful song 💛.
@@kristyschertz1603 i understand now, thank you for clearing that up, i was looking up different definitions of coupe and stuff lmao and i actually came to the comment section to find someone who mentioned the lyric to help me figure it out but thank you
I can’t wait to watch this performance in Sheffield in December. This is my fav Dermot Kennedy song and have been listening to him for a year just waiting for him to perform this live and all his other songs of course.
I am with you. The mood of his gigs is different. The Keep The Evenings Long Tour was Dermot at his best. Now people are more in a party mood. The audience can't stand silence and people want his attention. I feel like 95% of the people in the audience don't get him as a musician. He is more of a star, which makes me very sad. But I am still hoping for some magical moments
@@MarvinDeufrains 100% agree. First time I saw him 2017 in Toronto , about 100-150 ppl, could hear a pin drop, so to speak, during his songs. And then in Baltimore in 2018, it was amazing too but this past fall was like you said, almost a party, too loud, too many ppl crowding each other and loud at the bar.
That sucks to hear! I saw him for the first time in April and the crowd was super respectful, singing along with him but not drowning him out. He literally demands respect when he sings, everyone wants to hear him
You can’t just blame the audience, Dermot’s music has evolved massively over time, there is a large percussion influence on many songs that didn’t have that before for example. This is heavily linked to his desire to be influenced by hip hop etc. He has evolved and grown with time and so has his music and audience
Hast du ganz zufälligerweise Dermots Reaktion auf die „an evening we will not forget“ Aktion gefilmt? 😇 Wenn ja, stellst du diese online, oder kann man da für die Sammlung irgendwie ran kommen? Und bezüglich Gelsenkirchen hätte ich auch noch eine Frage. Viele Grüße Silvana (die kleine, die so unfassbar erstaunt über dein barfuß-sein war) 😄
2024 and this song still hits hard
There is..... Water in the ocean of your song. God bless you always
Oh my gosh
Those lyrics. Once again this man’s made magic. WOW!!!
Ya couldn't even hear a pin drop in that room. Breathtakin performance 👌👌 Thanks again for sharing 😀
Great to see an audience be quiet and appreciate the singer's talent.
"I know I wanna be get run to" exactly the lyric that is should be! Thanks Dermot!
Thank you for posting this! Really love this song. RIP “heart coup” lyric, I’m sad to see you go.

@@MarvinDeufrains i saw that in the description after i commented, im dying for him to play this live. Favorite track
dermot shows need to go back to this type of feel, now ppl are screaming the lyrics too loud and its sadly drowning out his sound.
