  • This cake is more than 100 years old and was inveted with other heavy cream based cakes when the bakeries got their first cooling systems and thus could keep the cakes cold all day. It is an danish cake and very delicious.
    Vanilla cream recipe
    Metric Version:
    2 dl milk
    1 egg
    2 tablespoons sugar
    1 tablespoon cornstarch or flour
    1 vanilla bean (seeds only) or 1 teaspoon vanilla paste
    Imperial Version:
    3/4 cup milk
    1 egg
    2 tablespoons sugar
    1 tablespoon cornstarch or flour
    1 vanilla bean (seeds only) or 1 teaspoon vanilla paste
    Short crust pastry recipe:
    Metric Version:
    200 g all-purpose flour
    4 tablespoons powdered sugar
    125 g cold butter, cut into small pieces
    1 egg yolk
    Imperial Version:
    1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    4 tablespoons powdered sugar
    1/2 cup cold butter, cut into small pieces
    1 egg yolk
