Interesting to hear what you had to say, but I am NOT impressed with you framing it in terms of "what's wrong with her face"-- I mean hopefully you know there's nothing wrong with her face, but either way, using the language of these people only serves to condone such gross attitudes, and you need to be more mindful of that, especially considering your platform. We take prednisone for the inflammation of the face and joints etc unfortunately having lupus prednisone is what helps that but also causes our immune to weaken even more and make us sick.
Been on it for a year when I was 2 and a 1/2 years old and after every relapse I had. I suffer from Nephritis. Would gulp down food like there was no tomorrow 😂

Auto immune disorders are no joke. You get one and for sure, you can expect another. The medicine for some of the auto immune disorders make you gain weight, retain water and feel tired. Selena is beautiful and so gracious to share her real life moments with her fans. Please respect and appreciate her for the beautiful warm person she is.

Even just a kidney disease can lead to water retention. I was born with kidney problems and yeah my face is round and puffy especially in the morning, if I am walking outside I have to find a toilet like once or twice an hour, if I have to sit at a desk for a long time or travel somewhere my feet puff up, like my ancles can literally double and that's without having to take the steroids and other drugs that are required to keep her autoimmune condition in check. I find idiots who bodyshame people just to make themselves feel better repulsive AF.
this is EXACTLY why you should never comment or say something about someone’s appearance & body. You never truly know the reasons, or what they are going through. You might bring something up that causes them to be insecure or depressed.

So true. I’m like Selena. I have lupus with stage four kidney failure (along with multiple different organ issues. Had surgery on both eyes to prevent me from going blind, had brain surgery two days after the eyes, liver is going bad etc). Prednisone will swell THE FUCK out of you. Also, long term prednisone use will cause weakness of the bones (brittle bones/oesteopersis). I know from experience since I am dealing with this as well, 5 features/breaks in 2-3 years. Hope Selena doesn’t have to take prednisone long term like I had
As a lupus patient myself, my face structure has changed a lot after the diagnosis of the disease. My face is rounder and puffy cheeks along with frequent redness, it's just something that comes with the disease. Same like Selena, my weight has been a struggle, it's fluctuates a lot. One moment it's stable and the other it's increasing rapidly.
I don't have lupus, but an autoimmune muscle disease. Which the cocktails of immunosuppressant therapy drugs used, are the similar, if not sometimes the same. We have tried to take me below 10 mg of prednisone to wean off. Nothing has worked, except staying on 10 mg of prednisone & immunogobulin. Im on methotrexate right now to come down & off prednisone again. Im on my 3rd wk & 1st wk was a nightmare trying. Still haven't went down to 5 mg successfully. I can say this. Ive had the least side affects w/ methotrexate compared to Azathioprine & mycophenolate. Mycophenolate almost killed me. My face & body shape has changed & I sometimes cry, bc I miss seeing my old self. However, I was at my worst w/ Mychophenolate when it caused me to swell to the point it physically felt like my skin would rip off my body. In stead of protecting my muscles, it caused rapid muscle deterioration & seemed like it was protecting adipose fat. In my opinion on protecting fat.
My mom has an autoimmune disease and also is on prednisone and her face also got like this. One that has helped her recently has been juicing, with high amounts of ginger and turmeric. I know it helps reduce inflammation. Not sure if that’s what causes the puffiness
i also have lupus & take prednisone from time to time. i sometimes look like a totally different person because of the puffiness/weight gain. she still looks so beautiful & i love how she’s open about her lupus journey.
Sorry you have Lupus, it's awful. You do sometimes take steroids for Lupus but Selena would be taking steroids(and many other drugs) to prevent her body from rejecting the transplanted kidney. Take care

I agree. People are just so used to seeing the same face shape. I always thought round faces looked very soft and feminine and beautiful. There's nothing wrong with not having sharp or super defined cheekbones.

Lupus also causes you to hold an excessive amount of water weight, as well as just swelling in general. I get mine all over my body but my hands and feet are the worst. I can’t even wear my own shoes sometimes, that’s how bad it gets.
She’s absolutely stunning. I think people are just comparing her to what she used to look like 10 years ago. Of course, people change and age. Life happens.
It feels nice to have representation for people with autoimmune diseases and I love that she doesn’t pay the haters any mind. I’ve been on prednisone for 2.5 years now for an autoimmune disease that’s similar to lupus and I was so self conscious about my weight gain and my face changing. But seeing her still being confident and knowing she’s still beautiful makes me feel so much better.
Oh my God. 2.5 years?! I've been on and off of it for the last year, about 5 months total. It has wrecked me. But I need it to get my autoimmune flare ups under control. I didn't know they can put you on it long term. I'm so sorry you are going through that, but I wholeheartedly agree with everything you're saying 💜
@@VanessaScrillions I hope that your docs are able to get your flares ups under control enough to get off of it completely. I was on high doses of it for almost 2 years and then finally started titrating down earlier this year. I just finally got completely off of it recently per my rheumatologist and when I told my neurologist about it today she was so happy. It can cause so much damage so I’m hoping I won’t need to be on it again. The pain has been even worse but the side effects just aren’t worth it to me.
@@VanessaScrillionsThe doctors can put you on a low dose of prednisone for life . I was on it for 10 years for my severe asthma . It saved my life. The doctors wanted for me to stay on it for life but I refused . An acquaintance recommended a good steroid inhaler . It’s still very strong but it’s better than prednisone
I have lupus myself, and when it's really bad, you have no idea. We get swollen, our face, our bodies. We can get depressed just seeing ourselves in the mirror. People like to judge so quickly. I just can say she's for real sooo beautiful inside out❤
The reason her face changed is NOT because of her disease, it’s because of plastic surgery. She ruined her face with these procedures: brow lift, facelift, face fillers and lip fillers. Lupus doesn’t change your face like that.
This woman is absolutely stunning and yet ppl continually try to pick her apart because of her appearance. There is nothing wrong with her face, it’s natural, that’s what’s causing confusion, her face has not been mutilated by plastic surgery, endless layers of goop and then filters to perfect the fake, generic blow up doll look. Prednisone made me gain weight. I had a round puffy face. Now that I'm done with the medicine, the puffiness is finally going away. Selena looks great to me.
She’s such a gorgeous girl and always will be. It’s so wicked how people bully her! I know being on the receiving end of it myself it doesn’t feel good. A lot of people hate themselves and reflect that onto others and it shows.
Honestly she looks perfect to me.. made me realise how people really micro analyse every detail of a celebrities appearance. I suddenly feel really sad thinking of the kind of stress and pressure she must feel being under that level of scrutiny.
You just don't know how much that angers me. These people already know why it's like that but they still go ahead playing damn and body shaming her. It's not cool at all😢.
The reason they do is because celebs get a lot of work done to their face and so people wonder what they got done. Its important to know especially since its the celebs that set impossible beauty standards that cause a lot of insecurities among the youth.
I hate that people shame her for health issues out of her control. I have close friends with this same autoimmune disorder. And one of them has it really seriously. I think they are beautiful regardless of what the medications may do to their bodies. As someone who takes medications that have caused weight gain and other uncomfortable side effects, it almost makes you feel better that someone with such a strong celebrity presence also deals with these real-life issues.
I was FINALLY officially diagnosed with lupus 7 years ago. My Rheumatologist determined that my first lupus attack was on my kidneys when I was 16. I had it for 40 years undiagnosed and misdiagnosed and now my entire adult life makes sense
A friend was mistakenly diagnosed with lupus for several years but passed from myasthenia gravis this year. Any autoimmune disease is really rough. I hope you're doing well now.🌷
I feel so bad when she keeps getting comments like that, my mom has Lupus and swells up so much especially since she also works hard so the stress contributes to that which is likely happening to Selena. Also I kept getting the butterfly rash, which you can get if you have Lupus (also they pointed out my influx of weight gain especially in my face) so my mom got very worried and wants to go check if I have to too but unfortunately my insurance just got taken away. It's very scary sometimes when it can be painful for those who have it and also make them feel insecure if people keep pointing out that they look "weird" or different.

The issue woth Selena specifically is that she took Francia's kidney and then got filmed buying meth, on drugs, drinking, smoking cigarettes and going to and from addiction specific rehab..she is destroying the kidney that her friend risked her life to give to her to save her life. My aunt died from lupus. I can say she lived way longer than anyone ever thought she would. She passed in her late 50’s. She was unable to have children but she was surrounded by loved ones always.

I just stopped taking that mess….but with Lupus you can’t just discontinue use of meds. 🤷🏻♀️

Not that it matters, but to make a big correction, people are not saying her face looks different because of the “puffiness” and “roundness” . Her face looks different because obvious work that has been done that has changed the look of her eyes and eyebrows etc..Lupus does not change structure of eyes and eyebrows. Regardless, she looks altered but still beautiful, and the most important thing is that she remains healthy.
Almost 6 years ago I was diagnosed with lupus and there are times when my face is very swollen and especially very red.They are horrible bone pains, I got a very big infection in my kidneys and the doctor said that it is part of what causes lupus, your internal organs are going away If you don't take care of yourself and take your medications as you should and don't miss the infusions, I also have Osteoarthritis, Diabetes, I have High blood pressure and my heart is very large. It's been 6 years since They put two catheters in 2 of my main arteries and they have to clean them twice because they get clogged, but The cardiologist told me that I need a valve in my heart and I don't want that. Besides, my liver is bad. The best thing would be for God to let me rest. I'm already tired of fighting so much and I can't. recovered it I'm tired of so many medicines that instead of helping me they make me worse 😖But lupus is terminal it doesn't go away but by taking care of yourself everything will be fine and with God's help We will get ahead Only God knows when he will take us to him 🤷🏻♀️🙏🏻🤷🏻♀️

I also had kidney problems, like 2 years ago and the medicines made my face look so round. Whenever I see my pics of that time, I laugh so hard😂😂. It looks cute and funny. My face is back to normal now.
I also have Lupus, and it has had an affect on my face shape. I've lost a lot of the definition in my jaw line and cheek bones. My skin is also more sensitive than it used to be, and gets red easily.

Thank you! I had a tumour that took my adrenal glands/left kidney. Personally the steroids I have to take (y’know- to live) make my face do this. It goes in cycles & it not only makes me feel uncomfortable with myself but also causes a lot of comments. If you KNOW someone is ill/ having treatment just don’t say anything! They know! They look in the mirror every day! Plus, Selena is still drop dead gorgeous so what does it matter?!
I have had Lupus for 36yrs, those drugs pff yr face up first and then especially then torso holds all the water...it really sucks and she's courageous dealing with it publicly and raising awareness ❤
appreciate your kindness and respect here ❤ I also have lupus and have the rare blood clotting form of lupus too and can confirm during a flare whether I’m on prednisolone or not I swell up because of inflammation in the body. The best way I explain it to people is it’s like when a normal person overdoes the alcohol on a Saturday night and looks puffy af the next day. That’s inflammation.
Same here, I was on prednisone for about a year due to my an autoimmune condition where my salivary glands become inflamed.. my face is super puffy, almost pumpkin like and I’ve been off the steroids for well over a year. Such is life, people.

I took prednisone off and on for years for my bowel disease. It can be a life saver but the side effects like “moon face” aren’t the most fun to deal with 😅 She still looks absolutely beautiful

I personally think she had cheek and chin fillers and it did change her face shape. The pufiness is not an issue she always had a round face and she always looked super charming with it.

I get it I have lupus SLE and six other autoimmune disorders… I think she’s gorgeous. She’s comfortable with her self with her she has, and seems so down to earth which I absolutely love. More people should be as open as she is she is still confident and and I love how she’s about supporting one another and not about tearing another apart. 💜✨

I hear systemic sclerosis is the worst of the autoimmune cause it has an even higher mortality than lupus.

I have PCOS and low progesterone , insomnia makes my face get puffy I hate it but I just try to eat healthy

If you do eventually come off them, then your weight will drop quickly. That was my exoerience after putting on 3 stone 😳

In stead of protecting my muscles, it caused rapid muscle deterioration & seemed like it was protecting adipose fat. In my opinion on protecting fat.
My mom has an autoimmune disease and also is on prednisone and her face also got like this. One that has helped her recently has been juicing, with high amounts of ginger and turmeric. I know it helps reduce inflammation. Not sure if that’s what causes the puffiness
i also have lupus & take prednisone from time to time. i sometimes look like a totally different person because of the puffiness/weight gain. she still looks so beautiful & i love how she’s open about her lupus journey.

Sorry you have Lupus, it's awful. You do sometimes take steroids for Lupus but Selena would be taking steroids(and many other drugs) to prevent her body from rejecting the transplanted kidney. Take care

Lupus also causes you to hold an excessive amount of water weight, as well as just swelling in general. I get mine all over my body but my hands and feet are the worst. I can’t even wear my own shoes sometimes, that’s how bad it gets.

It feels nice to have representation for people with autoimmune diseases and I love that she doesn’t pay the haters any mind. I’ve been on prednisone for 2.5 years now for an autoimmune disease that’s similar to lupus and I was so self conscious about my weight gain and my face changing. But seeing her still being confident and knowing she’s still beautiful makes me feel so much better.

I was on high doses of it for almost 2 years and then finally started titrating down earlier this year. I just finally got completely off of it recently per my rheumatologist and when I told my neurologist about it today she was so happy. It can cause so much damage so I’m hoping I won’t need to be on it again. The pain has been even worse but the side effects just aren’t worth it to me.

The doctors wanted for me to stay on it for life but I refused . An acquaintance recommended a good steroid inhaler . It’s still very strong but it’s better than prednisone

Prednisone made me gain weight. I had a round puffy face. Now that I'm done with the medicine, the puffiness is finally going away. Selena looks great to me.

I hate that people shame her for health issues out of her control. I have close friends with this same autoimmune disorder. And one of them has it really seriously. I think they are beautiful regardless of what the medications may do to their bodies. As someone who takes medications that have caused weight gain and other uncomfortable side effects, it almost makes you feel better that someone with such a strong celebrity presence also deals with these real-life issues.
I was FINALLY officially diagnosed with lupus 7 years ago. My Rheumatologist determined that my first lupus attack was on my kidneys when I was 16. I had it for 40 years undiagnosed and misdiagnosed and now my entire adult life makes sense

I feel so bad when she keeps getting comments like that, my mom has Lupus and swells up so much especially since she also works hard so the stress contributes to that which is likely happening to Selena. Also I kept getting the butterfly rash, which you can get if you have Lupus (also they pointed out my influx of weight gain especially in my face) so my mom got very worried and wants to go check if I have to too but unfortunately my insurance just got taken away. It's very scary sometimes when it can be painful for those who have it and also make them feel insecure if people keep pointing out that they look "weird" or different.

I just stopped taking that mess….but with Lupus you can’t just discontinue use of meds. 🤷🏻♀️

Not that it matters, but to make a big correction, people are not saying her face looks different because of the “puffiness” and “roundness” . Her face looks different because obvious work that has been done that has changed the look of her eyes and eyebrows etc..Lupus does not change structure of eyes and eyebrows. Regardless, she looks altered but still beautiful, and the most important thing is that she remains healthy.

Almost 6 years ago I was diagnosed with lupus and there are times when my face is very swollen and especially very red.They are horrible bone pains, I got a very big infection in my kidneys and the doctor said that it is part of what causes lupus, your internal organs are going away If you don't take care of yourself and take your medications as you should and don't miss the infusions, I also have Osteoarthritis, Diabetes, I have High blood pressure and my heart is very large. It's been 6 years since They put two catheters in 2 of my main arteries and they have to clean them twice because they get clogged, but The cardiologist told me that I need a valve in my heart and I don't want that. Besides, my liver is bad. The best thing would be for God to let me rest. I'm already tired of fighting so much and I can't. recovered it I'm tired of so many medicines that instead of helping me they make me worse 😖But lupus is terminal it doesn't go away but by taking care of yourself everything will be fine and with God's help We will get ahead Only God knows when he will take us to him 🤷🏻♀️🙏🏻🤷🏻♀️

Thank you! I had a tumour that took my adrenal glands/left kidney. Personally the steroids I have to take (y’know- to live) make my face do this. It goes in cycles & it not only makes me feel uncomfortable with myself but also causes a lot of comments. If you KNOW someone is ill/ having treatment just don’t say anything! They know! They look in the mirror every day! Plus, Selena is still drop dead gorgeous so what does it matter?!

appreciate your kindness and respect here ❤ I also have lupus and have the rare blood clotting form of lupus too and can confirm during a flare whether I’m on prednisolone or not I swell up because of inflammation in the body. The best way I explain it to people is it’s like when a normal person overdoes the alcohol on a Saturday night and looks puffy af the next day. That’s inflammation.
Same here, I was on prednisone for about a year due to my an autoimmune condition where my salivary glands become inflamed.. my face is super puffy, almost pumpkin like and I’ve been off the steroids for well over a year. Such is life, people.
