  • Early in the pandemic this Joey otter captured our hearts and we finally was able to visit.
    Back story on Joey.
    Joey is a male sea otter pup believed to be just 10 days old when he was rescued. He was discovered near Kyuquot after a concerned member of the public heard him vocalizing overnight on July 2 and discovered a deceased adult sea otter in the area, presumed to be his mother, the next morning.

    Joey was found alongside his dead mother and was take in by the Vancouver aquarium. He was deemed unrealeasable by Fisheries and Wildlife Canada, the federal goverment, since he would not survive. The Otters here are all there because they are in need and won't survive in the wild. The Otters having been in decline in the area and are now back in the wild in the Vancouver area. However, so are wolves, they run along the land and are capable of feeding on Otters who are on land or rocks. Then again these little creatures are smart, spend most of their time in the water. Joey and his friends got a lot of people through the Pandemic. I and many others raised funds to assist the closed aquarium during the closure.

      Well explained thanks! We donated during the pandemic all the way from Florida. We finally visited over last Summer. We love that area and visit as often as we can.

    Second pool 15:21 is sweet Joey swimming backwards towards the camera. I’d recognize that one long eyebrow whisker anywhere. He’s such a sweet boy. I love him and miss him dearly. I enjoyed watching Katmai clapping and high-fives with her little funny self. She’s the eldest of them all and the most mischievous, lol. Thanks for sharing your video and if y’all ever go again please share that video as well. I live in Mississippi and doubt that I’ll ever get to Vancouver. You’re very fortunate not a lot of people ever get to see live sea otters in person. Thanks again

      Thank you for pointing him out. Even the staff there had difficulty finding him. Only certain staff knew the details.
      There might be some other aquariums near you that have rescued sea otters.

    And why is this place so small for them??? When will you release them and where are the reports of released sea otter's??? Can we see them please?? I am sure you made video's??
    Or is this just another aquarium lie???
    Please people do not support these places untill you have PROVE that they really release the animal's again!!

    • @DRAGONSRock
      @DRAGONSRock  Год назад +2

      Hi, I am only a visitor who made the video. Our local aquarium, does rehabilitate and releases. It all depends on the case. If the creature never learned to survive in the wild it can never be released back to the wild. Hope this helps understand the role of an aquarium.

      @@DRAGONSRock Thank you and no efence please!!! It's a big problem that these/all aquarium's are not transparent and the dealing with animals is like dealing with drugs of weapon's. It makes very rich.That's why I am so suspicious!!
