    After all my years in the RV industry, I've learned something new - HOW TO DEWINTERIZE - not that I ever knew how to WINTERIZE! Absolutely one terrific explanation Travis. Thank you for taking the time to explain all of this.

      I blow all my lines out with air and just put anti freeze in all my traps I live in the north east and never had a problem.

    • @RockyMountainRVMarine
      @RockyMountainRVMarine  Год назад +1

      That absolutely works, lots of people "dry winterize". The only recommendation that I have, is to put antifreeze, at least a little, into the water pump. Just because the air doesn't get into the water pump to push any of that water out.

      Yes!! I’ve watched SO MANY of these types of videos but have NEVER come across such a simple & clearly explained one on this process not to mention how the line positions work. I had to figure it out myself (the hard way) but am happy to find this for my biannual review!! Liking, saving & subscribing!!

    Thank you very much for making this video. We just bought are travel trailer last year. Family member helped winterize it but from a bike accident memory is not what it used to be. I dreaded trying how I was going to figure out how to dewinterize our TT. But saving this video to watch I will be able to do it with confidence now. You just got a thumbs up and a new subscriber today.

      Your video is awesome. Watching your step by step instructions on de-winterization I now know 1) I can go back to the video and rewatch it. And know I will be doing it correctly. And 2) knowing I can do it by myself and not relying on anyone coming over to do it for me. As far as video ideas you could video hooking up a on off battery switch if your trailer didn't come with one. Or switching out the kitchen faucet for a fancier one. Just a couple easy ones lol. Not only might it help me but it might help others out also.

      Just a FYI. We took the camper out and just got back today. As we start setting up getting ready to do the de witerizing the wife said don't forget the anode. I said yeah I won't. Long story short turned all the valves correctly went to turn on the water and hear a water fall on the other side. Yep I forgot to put the anode in. UUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH LOL

    Question please... My jayco 29.5 BHDS has the hot water heater bypass and the pump switch right in the same spot as the city water hookup... Do I need to be looking for other switches or should this do it? First time dewinterizing and really don't want to screw it up! Also I'm in Montana so winter just got over it like a week ago😂

    • @RockyMountainRVMarine

    If you are using anti freeze + the siphon hose, isn't anti freeze in the strainer & bowl? I usually run water thru this as well when flushing my lines... Or I at least remove it and drain the water out of it if I use compressed air.

    As a total newbie, one thing I never see (or maybe I’m just missing it) on all these dewinterizing videos is how to know when your tank is full and you can turn off the city water.

    We have our travel trailer hooked up to a seasonal spot. We are connected to their water and don't use the fresh water tank. Is it necessary to sanitize the water lines after flushing the antifreeze? We just bought it last summer. Its my first time dewinterizing.

  • @zachfisher915
    @zachfisher915 Год назад +2

    This may be a really silly question, but I'm a first time RV owner. Where do you dump the anti freeze that is in the grey/black tanks?

    • @RockyMountainRVMarine
      @RockyMountainRVMarine  Год назад

      You don't need to put antifreeze in either the black or the grey. If you empty them before it freezes there should be plenty of room for any water left in the tank to freeze without causing damage. If you are concerned about camping in freezing weather, a little rock salt in each tank will help.

    • @porkchop10
      @porkchop10 Год назад +1

      It's just going to get dumped into the sewer with everything else in your tanks the first time you go out. If you're worried about environmental factors I'm sure you could just put a tub under your sewer outlet and drain out what you can before your first trip. I'm guessing RVs take a non toxic formulation, because every video you see on dewinterizing just shows guys dumping antifreeze all over the ground.

    • @jetterbuglove
      @jetterbuglove 3 месяца назад

      RV antifreeze is non toxic. It can drain in the gutter. It is not like vehicle antifreeze

      @@RockyMountainRVMarine hat if my dog drinks RV antifreeze?
      Contact a veterinarian immediately if you see your pet drinking antifreeze or suspect it had access to antifreeze. Very small amounts of antifreeze can be fatal. For example, a cat can ingest a fatal amount of antifreeze by simply licking its paws after walking through a puddle of the chemical.

    • @RockyMountainRVMarine
      @RockyMountainRVMarine  Год назад +4

      @@lyndean4498 this is not the same antifreeze you put in your car, this is RV and Marine specific NON TOXIC antifreeze.
