FACTs: The fantastic Debora Iyall turned 67 this year (2021). She is a Native American from the Cowlitz tribe in SW-central Washington state. She now lives in the Coachella Valley of southern California, and teaches high school art classes. ♡
My daughter Dustin Cecilia (Dee) & I were at the show at Red Devil Lounge, SF! We love you! Romeo Void, a unique passage of time in a lifetime of so many incredible experiences - I'm glad I was there...
Dobora, you are an inspiration…what Columbia Records did to Romeo Void was beyond disgusting…they deserved far more success than they got-she's still got the voice. Great song, great lyrics!
Yes. Unfortunately, Columbia Records had a nasty habit of treating Native American groups like crap and not puttting any promotional budgets behind them. They also did this to Redbone and Paul Revere and The Raiders also. One reason they got away with it was because they knew that no other labels would sign them.
Deborah is an amazing talent! I grew up with this music, and when Romeo Void came on the radio, or MTV, I was mesmerized by her voice. Listening to her now, I appreciate even more how she truly influenced my taste in music. She is a beautiful soul for sure!
Used to hear this song a lot on MTV back in 1984 when my then local cable operator (Tennessee Cablevision) decided to finally add that channel to the line up. For the life of me, I never knew this song was in written in response to a quote from one of Michael Jackson's most successful songs until now 2020.
one of my all time favorite singers! She's under rated and that's sad. Instincts was an excellent recording and I listen to it all the time . . . still. Keep singing cause we are still listening.
+ dogcatcow , I love that handle , I just wanted you to know , that when I saw it I imagined you to be a farm girl who looks like terry gillis in the witness , and she likes 80s underground .
Amazing Voice and song Debora!!! I don't care at all if she is skinny, fat, old, young, etc!! This is one of my top 100 favorite songs and it certainly deserves a place in 1980's songs history!!
She sounds like a natural coloratura with her own bag of vocal accomplishments. I'd love to have seen them unplugged on MTV, so thanks for sharing this.
Wonderful to see you after all these years singing with the same gusto....we've all earned those grey hairs over the years through experience good and bad...
Gracias a la tema "Una Chica en Lios (Es cosa temporal), a podido mantener mis relaciones con hombres en linea. Thanks to the song "A Girl in Trouble (is a Temporary thing), I've managed to keep my relationships with men in line. iGracias Debora!
What a wonderfully personal video that Debora Iyall has done. I love that she was inspired by another song (Billie Jean) to write this one. It has such a great versatility without the saxophone and still, she sings with feeling and presence. What a talent. Debora, you ROCK!
..It sure is ! . . NOW, I have to go ~CRANK UP~ the sweet Benjamin Bossi saxophone of the Original R♡V hits, this one and "NEVER Say NEVER" !! ... wooooooooo !!!
Debora, it is awesome to see you ol'friend!! this is Simone Lazzeri-Ellis (poet/film-maker) from SFAI. If you see this find me (and Kenny and the Icelandics) on Facebook, my name there (to hide from bio family) is Simon Denchen Lhamo. You rock!! so glad to see you, and HEAR you my friend. Bravo!
OH MY GOD, you know her??????? This song has meant more to me than she could ever know... it was played more in my home than any other song at the time and still, after all these years, makes me emotional. I've always wanted to let Deborah know how deeply this melody and her voice affected me. If it is possible, please let her know that I have tried for years to get a letter to her... but I never heard back. This is Brian in Va. What a happy night it is tonight!
Once again great song. Stop listening to the mainstream radio and go out and listen to some bands and some real music and maybe u will find some non garbage music that u can listening to. Her voice was great once but it is not there anymore just a point
Lots of older artists still performing and their voices aren't what they were when they had their original success. Why single her out? What a sour-azz comment.

This, and the entire "Strange Language" album, are fantastic. Great performance, thanks for posting.

Just as adorable as ever.
I dig the horn riffs in RV's music. And of course Debora and her voice are legend.

She looks good for her age, she's like 65 now I think, doesn't look over 60.
Love the original this is next

Te amo Devora
Los grandes artistas deberían ser inmortales 🎶🎸🥇🏆

Never say never.
That looks like David Foster accompanying her on guitar.

Billie jean was mj's response to being accused of being the father of a child that he wasn't. Not some mysogynist manifesto
Great song! Had a great voice but this relic shoud know when to quit. (GIRL IN TROUBLE HAS A TEMPORARY VOICE)
