Man what a beautiful place, I'm a Yankee fan from NY and I always used to stay up as a kid during the summer to watch the games when The Yankees were in Oakland playing at the Coliseum. Never in the history of sports has such a hallowed stadium been so utterly desecrated and ruined.
@@aaronblaylock2092 Especially when the Haas family took over and made the bleacher area even nicer! I'll always love the Coliseum. I've still got ticket stubs from the 70s and 80s. No one will ever be able to take away those memories, even if they move (which they've threatened to do since at least the late 70s).
I grew up in Bradenton, Florida and the A's trained there from 1963 through 1968. I have very fond memories of the A's and this video of the players and coaches is GREAT. I love the gold and green uniforms! Thanks for sharing!
If you noticed on the hat from 1968 was just letter A and the the 1971 clip was A's. In 1970, owner Charlie Finley officially called them the A's and put last namez on their jerseys. In 1963, Finley put first names and nicknames on the home gold jersey when the team was in Kansas City.
Thank you for posting this gem. I have pictures from an A's camera day game I went to against the White Sox in 1969, but I only wish I had taken home movies. The only thing missing is Little Harvey, the rabbit that popped up behind home plate every so often with a new supply of baseballs.

We were there at the Colosseum when it all ended, against the Redsox in '75. Can still remember being there in '74 when local kid Claudell Washington began his career. That team also had another leftie, sweet-swinging Billy Williams. One more ex-Cub, speedy Bill North covered center field, and Matty and Jesus Alou were still PHs.
Thank you Ryan Leong! You are exactly right. When I went through the clips, I thought it was 1969 because the scoreboard was showing in the background and did not think it was '68. On second look, the scoreboard is not lit up, so guessing it was still under construction then.
I was at the one in 68. First game I ever attended in my life. It was against the Red Sox. They were around too, just not in this video. I'll never forget everyone pointing at Ken Harrelson. I was like, who cares about him? Had no idea of his history with Finley and the A's.
Fond memories of catching the 57 bus with my brothers & friends to sit in the right field bleachers and be part of Reggie's Regiment. Great era for Bay Area sports- A's 72-74, Warriors 75, Raiders 76. Thanks.
Great era for the A's and for Oakland sports in general. Think about it, from 1970 to 1977, at least one Oakland team was in a Championship game, championship series, or World Series. And I'll always love the Coliseum, no matter how much people dump on it. Especially the old bleachers!

Rich Paloma Thanks, Rich. I have another, not so great set of clips from the June 11, 1971 pre-game and game against the NY Yankees. Had the little 8mm running for Reggie Jackson's 12th home run that year, just not great quality. I am uploading later today.

When this was shot he was a young starting pitcher in is second or third season in the big leagues. I don’t think he was very happy when Dick Williams moved home to relief pitcher, but that was one of the best moves ever made for the Oakland A’s back then.
