I've never seen this before: pause at 6:00, where the title card and the penguin overlap; the G has the penguin's face/silhouette within it, and it just so happens to overlap the actual face of the penguin. brilliant.
In the first episode there was like, a newspaper clipping or something as an Easter egg that said the Batman has been missing since the flood so I guess he could be helping clean up the aftermath of the flood as Bruce. It was confirmed by Collin Farrel that the penguin takes place in the part of Gotham that was mentioned at the end of the Batman where Bruce said the flood cut off a part of Gotham that can't be reached and that crime will be rampant and thrive there during that time
I’ve done this. I was thrown into the deep end of the pool by a therapist. Anyone trying EMDR, start with something light. Heavy lifting is not advised from the start. I had a negative, disturbing response a few nights after the session because I started with a traumatic memory. It was too much.
@JamesVSCinema Cristin Milioti, the actress who plays as Sofia Falcone in this show, played as Catherine Sacrimoni, who is the young daughter of the New York City mobster Johnny Sacrimoni in HBO Max's G.O.A.T. mafia show The Sopranos.
@JamesVSCinema I still hope that you'll watch The Sopranos, starring the late actor James Gandolfini (R.I.P.) as the New Jersey Mafia's big boss Tony Soprano, after finishing THE PENGUIN 2024.
@JamesVSCinema Oswald Cobb (Colin Farrell) is Gotham City's very own Tony Soprano (played by the late actor James Gandolfini, R.I.P.) from HBO Max's The Sopranos!
Everything he says is so believable. You just want to believe him…what a salesman😂😂😂. The penguin is amazing….always on the edge but that mouth always find a way to throw you out of your game
She should have been the one to have won an award last night. Colin does a great job, but he’s just your stereotypical DC bad guy, with a dash of Tony Soprano. Great show though.
Collin Farrels costume is just a masterwork. Make it practical, make it perfect CGI. And people say, "that's cheating, he's not that!" Bitch please, actors have been using masks and props since the beginning of acting. You give one actor a fake sword or a fake gun to do their work. And here you give actor a fake face to do the work. It's all the same.
So very tactful. LOL. 'however you want to interact with the content...' Well played. And strangely appropriate for the context. Glad you're enjoying this! Cheers. Happy New Year.
Who is the better Con artist, who is better at playing people and telling them exactly what they need to hear to get what they want, Oz Cobb or Jimmy/Saul?
Japanese jazz, brother. When I lived in Kobe I’d go to this jazz bar by the beach every weekend and this three piece jazz band tore the roof down every night I was there
I thought “The Penguin” was about the best “superhero” offering of the last five years. That’s no great achievement, given the outrageous amount of drek that’s been churned out in that time. Overall, very good in all aspects, outstanding in terms of acting, most notably Farrell’s lead performance. That said, it hasn’t yet, for me, reached the level of “Breaking Bad” and certainly not any where near “The Wire”. Hopefully it continues to improve, I’m rooting for it and will keep watching.
This may be an unpopular opinion and no disrespect to Colin Farrell, he did an amazing job and deserved the award but while watching the show I just was never actually bothered about oz, i was more bothered about Sofia. To me she was the more interesting character to watch and i felt more engaged with her than with oz. I really hope she opens up either in the Batman 2 or in some other in universe spin off.
Colin Farrell won a Golden Globe for his role as the Penguin last night. Well deserved, you can't see Colin Farrell at ALL!
This is a well-timed comment.

That "strobe light" is a real trauma therapy called EMDR: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.

The writing, camera work, character work, editing, and music are all reasons why I think you’ll like this show. Makes me think of BC Saul.

Oz is playing the most complex Among Us game
