Thumbs Up!
Page up!
Love you guys
the ECU sits highest in the engine bay beside the battery tray
Thumbs Up! Bums!
Thats crazy i work for trents i most likely took that gearbox off the gti up engine all the best with it guys loving the build 🤙🤙
first item is the soundaktor, ECU lives under the passenger front wing/fender usually covered up by the arch liner

My favourite hungarian youtube car channel "junkbuilds" have an Up GTI so I think if you ask they for anything they can look UP for you on their UP ;)
Bump bump
But this isnt an UP GTI iys a standard up and as a mechanic thats worked on a few the ecu on the standard up lives under the black trim that hides the wiper motor on pasanger side
"Go and do rotary things, it's broken of course" Got a chuckle out of me
That’ll take you a while 😂
I thought he was going to tell him "go put a ls in it"😂
Oh it's personal 🤣
@@Harry_Gersack Nah, they're Aussies. It'd be a Barra
Most trouble ever gone to to gain 40 horse powers. I admire Your dedication.
It can be a pretty big deal in a little car like that. I don't know what that 40 is as a percentage of the old one, But it's probably proportionally pretty significant.
40 American hspwrs or 30 in the rest of the world?
These 2012 models only had 60HP. So 55hp a almost 100% gain is quite a lot. And with some tuning they easily get 150Hp
I've had both, hp might be one thing, torque is the onther thing, the n/a has just 95 nm of tq and the gti 200, makes a HELL of a difference, still not a fast car, but alot more driveable at any speed in any condition, i LOVE my GTI, sold my E39 M5, kept the Up GTI. says alot that does.
@@vwporschefreak97 wrong, came in 75 and 60 hp variants.
No cooler name than VAG Commander
You must obey the VAG commander
Giving out the order for fun.
The VAG whisperer
Reminds me of the C.L.I.T. commander from Jay & Silent Bob
The high five to the foot caught me out- watching this at night in the uk- my laugh just woke my kids up. Worth it. Love your work guys. Thank you
Well done guys, great to see it actually run. Love the channel keep it up 😊👍
Not seen it yet but ur comment made me chuckle, love from Bristol lol
Damn it's 4 in the afternoon over here 😂😂 dedication 💪🏾👈🏾🥶
@@devonsmalls6441it's 5 o'clock somewhere, oh wait it's here and now. 😂
That is what's known as a mid five
How is no one laughing at Marty trying to plug the Haltech in at @1:31 I lost it
Hahaha Marty's awkward walk off frame to get a part
it felt awkward honestly, maybe a laugh out of tension relief but moogs weird outburst was kinda un called for, even the Vag master dude was alil thrown off, he went to say something along the lines of stepping out of the way to let them do whatever arguing they were gonna do(but stopped at "should I"). I mean even moogs rotary comment was out of left field, Theres definitely been some strange tension these past couple years and that was a small snippet of an uncut moment of that tension.... maybe its just me but caught me off guard forsure...
Probably because it's hard to tell what that is.
@@zebkalnbach4382Moog has really been struggling to find meaning in life the last few years and I'm guessing there's trouble with his wife. He's been really negative and toxic in several of the videos. Remember the one about the orange Civic? He took his jokes way too far and you can see Marty was annoyed with him. Marty did 90% of the work and complained 10% and Moog did 10% of the work and did 90% of the complaining.
Hope Moog figures things out soon so Marty doesn't get frustrated and leave.
As an up GTI owner, i can confirm the ecu is between the inner and outer passenger wing. I will post a picture on your fbook
You a real one
We call them fender guards
Yep on the facelift ups it's on the left side wing. Prefer it behind the battery on the prefacelift as its more protected
The look of surprised joy on Moog's face when it turned over, love it!
It is projects like this, and the Mira, where you just straight up refuse to give up that make me love you guys all the more.
Boys; I fully understand the absolute magnitude of this project and the insanity it would have caused. Top job. Miles must be a genius.
us VW addicts are a strange breed. we study wiring for fun. yeah, we're messed up! haha
If anyone thinks for a second that this is a waste of money, well it’s not. It’s a huge investment in learning. It’s a huge investment in making connections with a broader community of people who start off strangers and end up friends. It’s an investment of doing cool things. It’s an investment in problem solving. It’s a collection of experiences and for that, people will spend far more to achieve by travelling, or a hobby, or paying for courses. It’s all relative.
Moog’s experiences are not just his. They are shared experiences of everyone that helped in all degrees of involvement.
It is expressly this view point that has had me frothing watching this. I don’t even like VW’s but I love watching people create and problem solve. What a ride.
Absolute value was achieved.
When you realize you're balls deep into a problem and the OCD won't let you walk away.....for that well done 👍🏻
'Rivals Track'..... absolute classic banga!🕺🏻
Moog, I'm so pleased for you to see this little nugget burst into life. Obviously, massive thanks to the guys and companies who have shipped parts from all over the World to Oz for your project, but I'm so happy to see it finally start and hope that it all works out and that you have the one and only Up! GTi in the Antipodes.
This was an epic build and you deserve to have all the effort (and time) you and others have put in rewarded to get this car working.
@@Adolf-xn1nlget lost this is a car channel.
I've done the same thing for a Daihatsu Sirion. All of the gtvi running gear into a base model car. Had to pay mechanics for a lot of it, so after parts labour and getting it painted twice our tiny little nugget owes us over $40k Australian dollarydoos. She is one of a kind though :p
Marty like blowing rx smoke 😂😂😂
cant wait to see the final part of this! so excited!
@@Adolf-xn1nl I appreciate you spreading the name of Allah but this isn't really the right place to spread the word
Back on topic am looking forward too to the finish. I have a vw up aswell and this is pushing me to do a engine swap however I think its easier to just get a crash damaged car and swapping things over and if something is missing at least you can go back to the donor car
I'm enjoying this series
The look on Moogs' face when the engine was idling...all the worries washed off his face...legends!😊
So happy to see this little nugget running after all of your hard work! I understand the love for an unusual build, you will always enjoy this car more than one that you just went out and bought from the show room
Look forward to seeing the final stage of this project.
Always happy to help out! The smile on both your faces once a project is finished is so rewarding
Sooo close. Can't wait for the initial drive and track stuff down the line. Also the commitment to the ice cream bit, Marty still single bare foot for the ^5 skit. You guys are great.
Odd cylinder count rocks, love mine too.
Fantastic effort! Going to be awesome when you finally have it on the road. Just wish VAG Australia had brought the GTI to Australia
Improvise, adapt, overcome! Your persistence is inspiring!
As a brazilian I was not that exicited for this project, since there are a lot of Up GTIs around here, but the determination and passion made me fall in love with this project. Lets go!
This is one of my favourite builds for some reason. Seriously oem+. The high five foot sent me 😂
Dudes, love You, never lose faith! Gratings from chilly Poland
Two guys, one Up outro🤣
Awesome!
So happy for you guys.
Awesome! Well done guys!
Great stuff! Love the grins at the end. Legends
I’ve seen videos where the ECU goes pretty much up against the firewall in between your windshield wipers get a pull the plastic thing off. That’s where Volkswagen likes to put them.
Two guys a cup lol the foot 🦶 high five was funny as f..k didn't expect that well done on the start can't wait to see it finished
Heck ya 10mins after uploading sweet hope it runs soon😂😂😂😂😂😂
this is a brilliant project! great work guys!!
Great job guys nice to hear it running at last🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great job you guys you got it to run after so long wonderful video.
I hate those break away bolts on vw when i had to change my key barrel on my golf
Love you guys, keep doing your thing
G'onya you two young Blkes , great to watch
Splendid! Such an exciting moment to get it to run. Can't wait to see it on the road when you get the interior in it and finish up the last bits.
Can’t wait to see the UP! chop all containers
Well done lads, keep the eps coming!
Greetings from Brazil!!
Not Brazil 😭
Marty: Get down. I'll do you.
Moog: 🎶I've been waiting for this moment, for all my life🎶
I'm glad you stuck with the project after all those hurdles. Thanks for so many years of awesome content. You guys are legends 👏.
Congratulations!
The best part of the VAG gag is the official headed paper.
Greetings from a 75 HP Up from near Wolfsburg, Germany! What an amazing project and what a final - especially, because VW ended the production of this great car by the end of 2023 (which I will never understand, because it's such a good car). You will have so much fun with this GTI!
Great work boys!
i absolutely love this channel. Never a dull moment.
Another great UPisode!
freaking amazing, dude
Stoked to see you wrapping up this build! Every build has its ups and downs, but you guys never gave up.
@10:47..... im so glad that even with all the space of supergarage your bench still looks like mine 😂😂❤
Respect. Thought about upgrading my mpi to tsi. Eventually bought a tsi as daily commuter, makes me smile every day.
Watching from the uk.
Well done lad, proper job with muchos perseverance. ❤
@Adolf-xn1nl
Atheist bud.
Barking up the wrong tree. Sorry.
Glad you've finally got some brum-brum noises :) VAG for life mate ;)
Nice work lads!
Great job! Impressive
Great result. You got there.
such a massive undertaking, just as you say there are sooo many teeny tiny little differences. Not just between models but especially between yearmodels. Massive props for going through with this project 👍
Thank you guys for continuing to be some of the most genuine dudes in the youtube car scene
Trents as in Poole England? Awesome 👌
Ha! Hall Effect, good joke took me a few seconds to get that properly
You need to give this car a radical wrap!
It's always good to have the VAG commander help you get to completion.
Nice Catch!
This is such a neat build, cool
To see a big build on a modern chassis
Luv the idea that you did it 'first', because romping off into territory that no one else had been to, is very satisfying. Also, nice shot with the ice cream.
Hell yeah I'm loving this build so far!
Get in there Moog. Glad you guys stuck it out. Can’t wait to see the next one.
Loving the Up GTI
dude that Thumb nail is AWESOME!!!
The last minute of this is why I've been watching MCM for fifteen years hahah🤘
„Sometimes I loose the faith“ that from a men that seems so positive and energetic .
We all do loose faith sometimes at that point it’s important to rely on friends and just keep on pushing. You both really help me to face the challenges in life. Through this content I learned that it doesn’t matter what gets in your way. With the will to move it out of the way there is almost nothing one can handle.
So to who ever needs to hear this: It might seem as an unbreachable object first keep the faith, talk to someone and just keep going! You’re almost there
Wow, closing out with a success and a nailbiter of a stunt!
@@Adolf-xn1nlI feel that's quite the leap.
My favourite 5 day growth channel !
Marty with the haltech
Moog as a fellow Up! Owner I love the enthusiasm! How good is the little Up!!!
I only wish this swap was a little easier so I could do it to mine 😂
That genuine surprise when it started was the best haha
Might have been easier to sneak a complete UK Up Gti in and swap the vin plates . Kudos for sticking to it!
But you couldn’t tell the world about it 😊
Just import a complete UK Up GTI, don't even have to be sneaky about it. Do a body-swap and done. That could have been one episode but I guess they made more money this way
My dad and grand pa always said find some thing you love doing and have fun doing it and never settle for any thing less the what makes you happy. I look forward to this going around the track. we didnt get the up were i live and driving it in grand turismo made me smile especially chopping my friends civic in the game when I upgraded it to the max.
You guys are less like mates, and more like brothers - love it
"thanks to Martin, and you" these guys are the best. they do as much as they can and always show when the need help and are so grateful to the people who help them. legends
I've started to like this "2 guys 1 up" series
And after all the pain, you're going to love it even more than you do now!!
Fair play to Miles, some amount of VAG knowledge on him!
Can't wait to see more of the RX7!
Keep it up boys
Heck yeah been waiting
Excellent to have General Kenobi on this project. VAG has a nasty habit of "NEIN!"-attitude on the computer side. If you don't have access to someone with all the licenced software and manuals you're pretty much trying to reverse engineer alien technology.
They clearly had VCDS in one of the shots and that software is better than 99% of what's out there for non VW AG products.
Excellent job boys..but we need longer episodes 15 min a week not long enough..keep up the good work...
You know something I've learned a long time ago is that it doesn't matter how much a build costs or how much work it is. As long as you're having fun and doing/building what makes you happy then that's all that matters.
I've been waiting for this 😁
How about no!!!! There aren't any gods at all. They are all lies!!!
I love this project and most of it is because it feels like early 90’s Honda swaps, a lot of work but a lot of fun with mates
Thank you for being you
Thanks for the inspiration to keep working on my unique project - I think I'm the only person in Australia who is taking a BMW K1600GT to turn it into a sports bike that they never put into production. So I know how tough it can be to get the right parts in Oz. Keen to see this one done and driving!
