They can't afford the good class bungalows nor high end condos in Orchard but most importantly they always try to act as if they are richer than the middle class because they are not up there. What is tiny and expensive? Diamonds. Prestige. Every single minister in Singapore earns more than 1 million a year and 1 term 4 years which means that every single minister past and present is higher than the category that you earnestly hope to attract. We give ministers that kind of pay to attract people better than them, not same as them.
