The Yukon you found is not the ship you see here. This is 100% made up ship “what if Canada got a Monarch class”. And Monarch itself was only a concept for Lion class. Which it also wasn’t built. So yeah....
@@SebaX92 Ahh, okay. The HMCS Yukon Wreck was a Mackenzie-class destroyer and to my untrained eye they look pretty similar. There's a coupe of differences but I'd assumed the artist took some creative liberties. Thanks for the info! I'll have to check out the Monarch and Lion classes and learn a bit more.
@@SDScuba if that was MacKenzie class DD that's even not close to the Yukon BB in WoWs . The Yukon in game is a battleship , like 4-5 times bigger than a destroyer. To understand the size you need to explore the wreck of the Bismarck. Monarch class would a bit smaller if it was built.

wargaming has become a joke...the whole concept of their game was built around being able to play and fight with actual ships that either existed or were planned which is what drew people 2 play their game and now they have diluted their game by putting in ships that neither existed or were even thought of,besides the Yukon u have the Kansas,Minnesota and Vermont to name a few...this is exactly why I and alot of other people I know uninstalled the game and decided to switch to gaijin naval because at least they use actual ships instead of making them up..
This thing seems like christmas short list fodder anyhow, but even if it was a good ship, wargamings attitude makes me feel much less inclined to spend anymore money with this company... and I REALLY want to buy an Ise... but I just can't justify giving them anymore money.

At last you open your eyes. The truth is that giving WG or really any AAA gaming company *any* money is just pointless. They will fuck everyone else over as long as a couple of people keep paying. I only pay for Indie games anymore, and I sail the high seas if I want to sample a mainstream game. You should do that too. Hit them where it hurts: the wallet.
I certainly can't justify it. Got ahold of some bulk ammo to burn. My car needs some love. And warships sucks, lately. Just so many better things to spend it on, and have way more fun.

There are no existing cruisers already in-game that could be easily re-worked to either Ontario or Quebec configuration. Remember, this project was initially supposed to come out for Canada Day 2020, not 2021.

@@nicholasrusson8978 There actually ARE. Ontario was a Minotaur class cruiser (In fact commissioned AS HMS Minotaur herself) and Quebec was a Crown Colony class. Both exist in the game already.
@@tomjamespilcher6472 The Minotaur in-game isn't the same as the Minotaur that became HMCS Ontario, having basically the same armament as in-game Fiji. HMCS Uganda/Quebec was a Crown Colony class (don't know why I didn't remember that).

Loved the game back in 2017 but it's been a down fall from there.
I think there's some deep problems at the senior levels of the company, unfortunately not sure how that can be changed

WG did need to make the CV's more playable for sure but did they need to butcher the AA at the same time? Nope!
WG as a company today seems desperat for more money and that fast.

@@ichasegaming Honestly? Wargaming Management change, maybe. Seems like these major issues started happening around 2018 or so, and it comes from the top, I think. I think that's when the CV rework was pushed through...
@@TerjeL And to add to that, Wargaming seems to really think that CQC skill is the way to use secondaries (to get that main battery boost) but honestly, I tested TEN MINUTES of firing Minnesota's guns (35.2s reload with Main Bat Mod 3) and it equated to fiting two full salvos more than without it. In ten minutes of continuous firing, with CQC procced.
CQC secondaries combo that Wargaming is pushing does NOT make up for the massive accuracy loss. It really doesn't. I just hope Wargaming buffs ISBA to at least 45% because as they(secondaries) are now, it's terrible.

If you watched the WoWs twitch feed today you would think there was no problem with how this ship came into being and is ok to play. The problem is the more people buy this ship it will only incentify wg to do it again down the road.

BUT
Using statistical data when there are so few games played in her (451 at time of writing this comment - NA, Asia has 165) is just misinformation and IMO by doing so you let your standards slip. To give you an idea of how bad that data is, on NA - top 5% of players may have 58% WR, on Asia it's 62.5%. On EU, there are 220-odd battles with Top-5% having a WR of 65.2%
Basically - we don't have enough data or not yet as to whether she's a 'bad' ship statistically, so no one should be letting that define their purchasing choice.
Fair enough, I was mostly using early stats as another point that seems to reinforce the point about the ship being terrible. Generally the top 5% players who actively go and buy a ship are the people who will have the skill to make that ship perform and the passion to make the ship work (this is generally why early stats tend to be incredibly high amongst top 5% and slowly over time, they drop, with Yukon this seems to be not the story at all, early skilled adopters are struggling to make her work already and if the future drop in stats is coming then that reflects badly on the ship). But yeah, still a fair point to make and I'll keep it in mind in the future

I simply will not be buying Yukon. I love battleships, and a Canadian battleship was definitely an interesting (if ahistorical) idea...but not after the way Mouse and Chobittsu got treated. Absolutely not!

Unpopular opinion: I really enjoy this ship.
The Yukon is in a class of it’s own in it’s tier similar to that of Poltava in terms of uniqueness and play style. If I were to compare it to any other BB in the game, I’d say it feels like Viribus Unitis.
It’s utility is… interesting, to say the least. It’s concealment allows you to get into very abnormal situations for a battleship, deal massive amounts of damage and get away with it. 11.7 km concealment, best of tier at tier 7, and the guns aren’t bad at all if you use them in the right way. Given their abysmal range even with a spotter plane, you don’t keep the guns hot, you always need to wait for the right shot because this ship is a short range damage sponge with no brawling capabilities whatsoever. You have a super heal, but we know how those work, depending on what kind of damage you take, it could be completely ineffective. So you need to rely on islands and your concealment using a touch and go play style to deal with enemy ships with your ridiculous concealment and short fuse AP shells. The guns have fantastic shell grouping, the AP shells on this ship are fucking crazy, and the HE is totally useless. I love catching tier 9 BBs off guard with it, I make them say goodbye to half of their health, or more, and by the time they realize what the shit they just got shot by and where it came from, I’m already gone. Ghosting them, waiting for the kill shot.
Yukon is not meant for ambush attacks, or 1 on 1s, it is a support battleship that always stays in a pack with it’s whereabouts unbeknownst to the enemy as often as possible. Don’t be afraid to go ahead of cruisers on your team, as long as the enemy is 12km away, you have nothing to worry about. Wait for a dumbass broadside, shoot, go dark. They present themselves a lot more often than you think they would.
I yeeted a Missouri for 76k with it in 1 shot at 6km because he pulled out from behind an island, and his team never knew I was there. Stay by areas with lots of island cover that are known for high traffic. Situational awareness is in extreme demand for this ship because if something spots you before you can shoot first, there goes your edge. For my captain I have Incoming Fire Alert, Priority Target, Grease the Gears, Brisk, Adrenaline Rush, Super Heavy AP, Concealment Expert, and Fire Prevention.
Cruiser armour, concealment, gun range, rudder shift ... might have been better with cruiser guns?!
They could have had a nice, interesting, unique ship entirely created by community contributors but instead, they chose to screw the community contributors over by launching a Monarch clone with a Canadian camo and Tier 7 stats. Yeah they'd rather kill their own game than actually do something good for once.
The problem is that nuns and priests guilty of the acts are indeed still alive but very elderly. They regardless must be punished.
this purchase filled me with regret, bought it day one cause Canadian, knew it wasn't the greatest, but i could have lived with that, was actually enjoying playing it, but then i learned of the LWM and Chobi stuff and i cant even refund it. =/

let my story be a lesson people, the one and only time i bought a ship without at least skimming a LWM review, and this happens lol.
I bit the bullet and bought it. 3 matches so far. 2 wins and 1 loss. Managed 2 kills in each in 2nd and 3rd matches. You're right you have to hug islands and plan escape routes before firing your guns.One reason I bought it besides being Canadian is to eliminate her from the Christmas crate short list. Last year I bought the Makorov for the same reason and ended up pulling a Jean Bart in the 20 crates I bought so hopefully I'll pull something decent this year too. I must be another sick and twisted Canadian, I like the Yukon and have fun in it. Thankfully, I bought it with all the dubloons I got from Christmas (haven't paid for premium time since then either) won't be giving WG anymore of my money ever again.
I saw a gameplay video from that ship and 2 minutes in combat it was literally melting on the shell. I just said to me yeah melting ship aren't for me. But yeah I appreciate your constructive input on the ship. I'm Canadian everybody know about all those mass grave we just do nothing, until now.

LOL. This ship is OP. Typical T7 armor with T8 guns with cruiser concealment and rudder shift. I played 20 games and won 15 with an average damage of 107K.
I did buy the ship, with her, slow reload time and short gun range I should have waited for a couple of more weeks to give myself a cool down period to evaluate the ship more I still play the ship. Its not the fun ship that I was hoping for. I hope that they do nerf this ship some, making the guns another 1.5 kms and lower the reload time to at least 30 seconds. I purchased this ship before the latest drama unfolded. Won't be buying anymore . I am finding the game to be a job not a fun game anymore. Thanks for your review and keep up the good work.
They should have been paying LWM and Chobittsu for this. Never do anything for a company without pay. Doesn't matter what. That forces them to write a contract, so you can not be stiffed like this and have your time wasted.

Yukon is an ok ship. Even Monarch, which Yukon is based off, is better. It basically has Nelson's super heal. The situation with LWM shows the importance of contracts or having something down in writing. It would have a lot of weight in those regards.

Why did they make a paper ship to celebrate Canada?
They could’ve added in one of the Canadian Colossus/majestic class light fleet carriers. Either as lower their aircraft carrier, or a higher tier one with early jet fighters angled flight deck fast turn around but very small air group.
Hell there’s literally the real life HMS Canada to use. A battleship not far off an Iron Duke class but with less armour and 10 x 14” guns instead of 13.5”. Could been decent too.
Because they gave a time limit to LWM and Chob when picking the canadian ship to implement, and they knew that modeling a new ship would have blown the time budget.

And it's amazing how everyone is pointing fingers at Canada but no one is pointing fingers at the Catholic Church which ran most of the residential schools where the children were beaten for speaking their native language. Many suffered sexual and physical abuse. Disease spread rapidly because of cramped dormitories and poor living conditions. Some children died in accidents or in attempts to escape. And all under the control of the Catholic Church. The same "Church" that has a proven history of protecting child molesters long after the residential schools were closed.

Put it this way. Better to look at it from the viewpoint that as a country, u have overcome and moved away from such barbaric practices and r constantly improving your morals. Best to celebrate that rather than self-hate/self-degenerate. Just like how America should celebrate overcoming and getting rid of slavery and making progress on equality 4 all rather self-incriminate itself over the fact. What a shame. Having driven from Seattle, Washington up through BC and the Yukon into Alaska, I was hopeful that this ship would be worthwhile in some way.

Yukon was a destroyer was it not? Pretty sure we never floated a capital ship. Our navy has always been comprised of destroyers, cruisers, aircraft carriers(small ones) and submarines that don't work. NEVER a Battleship that size. At least this is what we were taught in school. Maybe they know something I don't but im 99percent sure Canada never had a ship like this in our fleet at any point in any war we fought for the British.
No, the RCN never had any battleships. There was a notion to have another one of the Queen Elizabeth class built for the RCN but that never came to fruition.
Yukon was a Destroyer Escort (a little smaller than a Destroyer). I actually sailed on her and decommissioned her.

I don't think the Canadian playerbase is big enough for WeeGee to see a profit from creating ship models for Ontario or Quebec as stand-alones, and if there was enough of a demand for more British light cruisers I think they'd already have been introducing more ships in that line.

Is there someone can tell me why there’s no ship’s name showed on top of those ships just like this video. Because I try and go through every settings in the game but still don’t know where and how to turn it on for many years. 🤔🤪
Just above the minimap, when your in battle is a little cog. Click that and then click ''Show ship names''. If that what you mean in the minimap. If its general settings there is ''Display team lineups'' or maybe your solution is in the scroll down choices in ''Options'' menu. Sorry, try that but thats all i know Denny

The fact that the Canadian people conveniently forgot about their own history again is more disturbing than actually uncovering mass graves. This covering up of history needs to stop or Canada will never truly find peace.
Umm, they're not mass graves, they're unmarked graves. And the media is once again sensationalizing by making it sound like mass graves in order to make a story and carry the narrative. These graves were always known about by the communities, many of them were actually community graves (not just residential school children), and many were originally marked but the markers have since been removed or deteriorated. The real story is that the children were taken from their homes in the first place and put into bad conditions. That should be the focus. Not this intentional misinformation that makes it sound like mass graves were suddenly discovered. Read the Truth and reconciliation report from 2015 that summarizes the graves
I have to agree, we must remember the mistakes of our past if we want to not make the same mistakes in the future. We really shouldn't be twisting history so that it offends us less, that's dumb!
Thanks iC. Good info. Glad you're doing well with school and such. I'm glad you mentioned the unsettling situation we're trying to come to terms with as a nation right now. I can't imagine what those families and survivors endured and I hope our leaders will step up to the task of restoring justice. (I have much harsher words for the institution of insane murderous rapists that ran the schools , but I'll bite my tongue).

Hmm, almost like being able to play the game doesn't necessarily mean you know how to design one. Guess WG agreed. Beyond a few supertesters and CCs noone gives two flips about LWM.
I understand that WG does some crappy stuff. But everything they do is just made worse by all of you dramatic content creators. Everyone wants to make a video about the next crappy thing that WG did instead of just making content about the game. This stuff always turns into some sort of soap opera for 12 year olds. Just grow up and move on.
Considering two hard working people put in 16 months of effort into the project, being led by the nose throughout the process by WG, and then treated like crap after, speaking up about that treatment is the least any of the other CCs can do. Also WG isn't just doing "some crappy stuff" it's been persistent downhill since Puerto Rico. Just think about the number of screwups since that, each new thing more money grubbing, more scummy, less caring than the last.
