When I really think about it now thanks to this video, the names of the three lorries could fittingly be Jeremy, James and Richard! This is such a classic Top Gear scene!
It makes sense as to who is which lorry, numerically. Jezza was on the original Top Gear so is #1, Hammond was his co-presenter when the series rebooted so is #2 and May didn't properly join the presenting team until late series 1 or series 2, thus making him #3. I wish all of TG was available to watch somewhere... Netflix HAD all the seasons at one point but then they ditched all the old episodes and now only have the adventure episodes...

The top gear boys arrived on Sodor to see if their sentimental lorries could out do the engines of Sodor. We follow Clarkson, Hammond and May from their point of view making attempting to make their deliveries. Clarkson does a run to the quarry, hammond tries to make a delivery for the the flower mill and gets confident, and May reverse into the sea. a perfect fit. and at the end after Thomas makes his comment about smashed, broke, and sunk the three showed up, bruised, white, and drenched.
