What a great idea about using crockpot for water for our chickens in winter. Brilliant!
Hey Goshen. I'm saying hi from Ontario Canada. I've been listening for over two years and learning. 🇨🇦❤️👍. Canada sends love out you guys
Another Ontarian!!
Me too
Toronto here ❤
❤
Here from Cambridge Ontario as well
Hello everyone from east Texas here, I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU SIR!!!
Great video!!! Thanks for sharing you day with us! Beautiful family! Love hearing the kids in the background!!!! ❤
my dishwasher runs on home made onion rings. in fact i can get him to do practically any honey do job for onion rings😂
My wife hasn't figured that one out yet lol
win win 😀
I want one of those!
Puddin94
That is hilarious! 😂 Thanks for the laugh, I needed that today.
I need one of those lol where'd you purchase
well hello from SC! Now we just need your recipes and links to your little kitchen gadgets! Thanks! Take care!
I have a dishwasher in my house. It was there when I bought the house. I use it to store extra frying pans. I have never used it and never will. I wash my dishes by hand. It’s the way I grew up and it’s convenient for me.
I don't run the dry cycle in the dishwasher. Within 2 minutes of opening the dishwasher everything is dry anyway.
One of your very best videos. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it.
We are depending less and less on modern convenience
I was a subscriber from the family channel...loved being back in your kitchen w/the family noises in the background. (Also was at a meet up years ago in PA)❤
Granola is great. Have you considered using a peanut butter that does not contain hydrogenated vegetable oil, ie seed oils, that is, any veg oil and any oil not hydrogenated?
I have deliberately went back to using an old school egg beater, a manual can opener, a backpacking manual coffee grinder, etc. I hope others can go back to use these too, in prep for worse times. It's really not a big deal to use these.
Enjoyed seeing you walk outside, including the fresh air, natural light, snow and Christmas trees.
Thx for such a fun video and with the family!!. So darn cute and fun recipes! Thx for sharing!! We stay home 95% of the time and love our farm! Love to cook at home. Thx Goodness my husband likes my cooking!! GOD Bless!!
I just sat down to watch this video after I pulled out homemade pizza from the oven and put in some homemade hoagie rolls to make subs in a couple days. I used to think the grocery store bread was the easy route but I've changed my mind now that I've got into the routine of making it on a regular basis.
Please share your process to making home made bread. Struggling with it. Thanks.
@@nancyschipon7919 I tried to respond but it didn't seem to post. Let me try this again. Here's a link to a video that taught me how to make my favorite bread. I use bread flour instead of all-purpose flour. Also, I put a round 7 1/2" cooling rack on the bottom of the pot to keep the bottom of the bread from getting too crispy. Wrap your loaf in plastic wrap when it's slightly warm, then place in Ziplock bag to keep it fresh. I make two loaves and keep one in the freezer at all times. It's delicious! ruclips.net/video/5IUNIOYSX1w/видео.htmlsi=R45UcCl7gWlKCs3k
I'm sensitive to regular coffee. Found out i didn't get the jitters with organic decaf. Love drinking an occasional coffee - as you said.. I know exactly what's in it. 😊
I love this vid the best. Thanks for sharing.
I still drive my 1999 Toyota RAV, I use a clothesline to dry my laundry, have never had a dishwasher, and only have on one lamp of an evening to read or watch TV. It’s not that had to do things yourself or live on a budget, you just have to have the will to do it.
Same deal with farm implements I'm told - if there's a breakdown you're stuck in the field until they can send someone to thr farm
Always good, practical advice here. I ordered a washboard before Christmas after watching one of your videos. Wry useful if you have to wash clothes by hand.
Great video. Love home life 💛
Good episode Goshen Prepping! I like the way Eric makes you think about stuff to do with Prepping that I've never think of. Goshen Prepping rocks! And I also make my own bread to lol.. And I bought a washing board I've used a couple of times just in case the machines go.
We had our washing machine go out several years back. We were able to carry on with doing laundry as we have a wash stand, with wash tubs and a wringer. So we set everything up and instead of doing one small load a day I did all the laundry in one day, hanging up the load while the next soaked. I always hang laundry to dry with the exception of my husband work uniforms. I didn’t mind the extra work doing the laundry. It was a great way to make sure we have everything needed to perform that task.
Love this! One year for us with all fresh milled goods
We just bought a still to make distilled water
A good by product would be whisky
I’ve been wanting one but after reading all of the reviews it didn’t seem there’s one that really stood out as all around good.
Do you mind sharing which one you purchased and how many times you’ve used it?? 👍👍
@@jenniferm3572 we got this one. VEVOR Water Distiller, 1.1 Gal. Only had it about a week. Ran 3 gal through it. They’re a little learning curve. TDS 4ppm. I know it should be 0 but maybe it’s residue in the container. We use it for a steam mop and to make colloidal silver.
@ ok thanks for sharing! 👍👍
My husband is old school machanic,my son can do old school and this new craapp!!!
I enjoyed the video of real life. It is always nice to get some real good ideas from your video
What do you think of a Vesta heater? I'm thinking about getting one need some advice .
Bread recipe please
I 2nd that
Sourdough- is it Keto friendly?
@tomconcitis9322 no but the kids probably still eat the bread.
We haven't had a dishwasher in 38 yrs!!! Except me lol
Stronger hands 🎉👍👍
Im my working on it
🌵Hello from AZ. What a fun and informative video. Love seeing Ashleigh I hope you do more soon. Thank you 😀
Hi from Tucson!
Jet stove is fabulous also
Great great great video! The more this world declines the more my family and I revert back to the old ways. Stay safe all 🤍
It's called Programmed obsolescence
That's right. It's a known fact light bulbs when they wete or shortly after they were introduced, lasted almost forever. So, they took care of that!
Hello from west Michigan. I’m really enjoying seeing your wife in the videos. Going to make some granola now- thanks ❄️
I just saw something about L.E.D. lightbulbs. They said although they claim to have a say 5 year or 10 year warranty, there is some fine print (devil's always in the details) that says if the bulb is in anything "enclosed" or obstructs air fliw at all, your milage may vary. So basically, they're saying if the bulb is in like a "canned light" system, or its enclosed with a fixture on the ceiling or outside behind glass on an outside light fixture, you're screwed. Not guaranteed.
Loving the change on the channel guys ❤
My daughter and I were apartment hunting and she commented that the one I liked best had no dishwasher. I held my hands up and said these are the dishwasher. Never liked having one. I know things are clean when I do it myself.
Really appreciated this video! I was a teenager in the '80's, a young kid in the '70's. Kind of makes me think of the simplicity of the '70's again, so not too much out of a point of reference for me.
Well... Hello... From New Orleans !
Hi Lisa from NC
Excellent. Please pease share how you made the bread!!!!!! Thanks for sharing the granola process. Prices of energy and replacing items are far too expensive these days. As you say, nothing is made to last - I think on purpose. Cheaper to just minimize the stress and expense of having to pay out every time you turn around. Safer to eat at home to minimize the questionable food products we are being hit with. Grow if can. Suggestion for dishwasher - replace the part the with a stainless steel spinner part that is compatible to your dishwasher? Thanks always.
Thank you Dr. Eric and Goshen Family. Great video. Many Blessings to you All ❤🙏🕊️
I would not get rid of my bread machine that uses 300wh/bread. Especially if I use my 2kw solar generator with solar panels. The bread is so Gooooooood.
Have one too ! Great Bread .
Would love your bread recipe! ❤ I've been looking into growing my own coffee beans/trees.
I MAKE THE SAME BREAD
Loved having a little peak at some of the kids, I miss them so much! But I do understand and respect your choices.
My dishwasher is used to store some dishes . Wash all by hand-no problem and faster -cost less too .
Thanks Ashley (and little helping fingers) for the granola idea. I think I’ll make some and step it up a notch and add sliced almonds and pecans. It is so expensive to buy a healthy granola without all the junk and sugars.
Eric, so the solution about refrigerator shelves is to balance the heavy products to the outside edges and not to place them in the middle. The door shelves seem to last a bit longer if you don’t grab the shelf, (like I do) instead of the door, to close it. These are hard for adults to do, so getting children to do that would be quite difficult. You are right the shelves are soooo expensive!
Btw, not sure what water you use for lattes, but look into third wave minerals. It allows the water to bond with the espresso. I owned a coffee shop. Glad to see you using Monin products!! Message me sometime. I really enjoy your kids. Also THANK YOU! For serving our country.
Also learn to live without electricity!!!!
I love this sweet vidio.yoi are right
Amen Enjoy the easy but remember to practice the simple
3 yrs ago it cost $700+ to repair my clothes dryer. I vowed to never play this game again. Since then, I've either hung my laundry outside in warm weather or inside on a drying rack during Winter. When my clothes washer breaks down, I'll wash laundry by hand and continue my drying habit. My electric oven is acting wonky so I'm using a countertop convection oven. The built-in obsolescence of the so-called green/energy saver machines is filling up landfills at breakneck speed. The old appliances, which lasted for 20 or more years, are far better for the planet.
What brand of expresso/ coffee you drink? Love the machine!
Hi... From the Thumb 👍
I haven’t used my dishwasher in years…years. But I don’t have a huge family either. My dryer broke 5 years ago…I hang dry. I started making bread 2-3 three years ago, delicious. Great idea using old crock pots! ♥️Thanks Eric, great video 👍
What you are referring to is called planned obsolescence and it has been known for decades. Why no one saw this coming...I don't have the foggiest idea. I heard this from my grandparents back in the 1960s.
We the people have the ability to make replacements that do last, and we can make items made to last, and are user- serviceable using standard parts.
Plus I drive a car built in 1968 😃
as a coffee fan I need to practise grinding my whole beans or I wont last a week when power failures come.
Gosh I'm watching from Kentucky this afternoon have to say that bread is making me hungry lol.great work you all godbless
Great vid guys!!.. Can i please have the bread recipe? I have a SD starter, but if this is quicker then I'm all for it!!.. Much love from NZ xx
I've lived without a dishwasher my entire life, even as a kid with lots of siblings. I don't miss having a dishwasher at all
Bought a above stove microwave, it had door problems from the beginning, we threw it out
The house I bought didn't have a dishwasher and I never put one in. I didn't want to give up cabinet space.
Drive a 2005 Nissan Altima with 38,680 miles . Changed oil filter , battery , brakes , new tires -never had a repair . Inherited from my mother .
Will probably last another five years .
Drive a 2005 Mazda 3 with over 320 000 km. Hopefully she'll last me forever.🌴
@@Vintage4815 All about mileage .You have been lucky it stills runs .Machinery wears out then breaks down-how it works .
For eons things have been made to break or burnout.... In California, there is a fire station with a 124 year old light bulb that has been on continuously since 1901 with the exception of being turned off a couple of times for relocation and remodeling of the building. .. The creators back then, realized that it lasted too long and they needed to make bulbs that didn't last as long, for marketing reasons. Since that marketing scheme, products have all been made to become obsolete. It is very frustrating when you spend tons of money on electronic products that start to fail in a few years. Replacing parts on something is not always an option or they make the replacements so expensive that is makes more sense to buy the newest version of the product...
Hi, I hope you're all well. It was good to find an American prepping video I like and get on with. Keep em coming. Luv n respect. Hwyl, Taffy Nige from South Wales, UK 🤘 ✌️🏴
This is a cozy family video, and I love the way you ended it. Michiganian fan here😊
Out with the kids all day today, cold. On the way home stopped at McDonalds. Hungry and could not wait till we got home. Better restaurants jammed full. Two fish to avoid their low grade burger, plus large fry, cooked in cheap oils, and plus large coke almost 18 dollars. Equals two dozen eggs on a bad day at grocery. Ripoff.
That looks like Mississippi roast 😋 We like to cook the roast then next day use it for tacos. Makes the best tacos 🌮 😋
Two words, "planned obsolescence". A lot of the slightly expensive options lack such features which limited the lifespan of a product.
Love that your wife is back in the videos!
I wash dishes by hand. We did a very low spend for January. We ate only from the pantry. Went over so well that we are continuing into February. Very happy about the savings. No eating out unless we have a gift card ❤ yea I’m using the crock pot
What does that say about us? We’ve lost our faith in the medical field and now we’ve lost our faith in government. That my friend leaves us only dependent on ourselves…
Gotta love old-style living...
Yes, when my kids are done playing video games they are much grumpier!
DO YOU wash dishes by hand yourself or did you mean LET your dishes be washed by hands from the others of the family? I recommend to by good qualityproduct (like good dishwashers) instead the cheap ones with much plastic in it. Because plastic gets very fast consumed from working every day in an appliance. It is not about keeping up with the Jones it is about not to save up at the wrong side.
The problem with washing by hand is it takes a heck of a lot more warm/hot water and will drain a 50 gal hot water heater in no time. Ask me how I know 😬
74 year old man . Washing one plate uses little water .
@ I have a family of 4 so could definitely see how just a few pieces would be easier. If I was alone it might take me all week to fill up a dishwasher.
Thank you to the Goshen family for sharing their lives with us. I'm not military but can identify with your 'brain being scrambled' as the result of a traumatic brain injury. Kudos for your sparring...hope it doesn't scramble your brain even more! Thank you for your insight, experience, and humility. I'm a 50 something 'permanently disabled' adult who also is the caregiver for his elderly parents on an acre in Colorado. Our property had been homesteaded from the get-go in the 70's. I appreciate you integrating different generations into your content. My kids definitely have a different outlook on the world than I do. Our family history goes back to Norway in 890 A.D. You could say we were hunters, gatherers, farmers, a short stint as Vikings, and even having a family church on the National Registry of Historical Places. I subscribed to your channel after watching this episode because it reminded me of my favorite quote from Little House On The Prairie (southwest Minnesota by the way). It was from Ma: "That's just not practical, Laura!" Prepping should be practical and you make it that way. Thank you.
This was fun! It reminded me of the days gone by with Out of Goshen! So glad you're able to drink coffee again Eric. Love the granola idea, we are going to make some! Love to you all! 💚💙💜
It's a throw away world.
The problem I’m finding today is going out to dinner with friends. I happen to have wealthy friends. Our group meets once a month to keep in touch with each other. Wow…the money it costs to eat out! I use the envelope method to save cash. That way I can participate in those monthly dinners with friends. It works great, and I always have extra left to put forward to the following month. And…I pay my own bill, not the tables. No more picking up the tab for everyone
Good Wednesday evening! I noticed Turkey Sausage. Are you folks by chance Hebraic Roots?.
My mom wouldn’t let us use the dishwasher. I got married and I never used it. My hubby used it but would only put a few dishes in then turn it on. Wasteful. I stopped buying the cascade so he just thought he was so smart. I came home one day to a kitchen full of soapy water on the floor. This joker used dawn dish soap 😂😂😂😂😂 and broke the dishwasher. It’s been broke for at least 15 years. It’s a nice storage now and we don’t plan on ever replacing it. We can laugh about it now
Maybe your hot water heater is turned up too high?
I wash my dishes by hand. We store canning jars in the dishwasher :-)
Me too 😊❤
That’s what I am doing in my brand new home with a new dishwasher Wash dish by Hand ….I totally hate all this stupid electronic on Everything …give me the 1980 gadgets I was very happy with them.
IMHO, I think everything is being shortened with the express purpose of shortening the populations attention span. That's why the systems algorithm are changing to shorter and shorter videos.
Please use all natural peanut butter!
Make sandwich bread, foccacia, pizza dough, tortillas.....not really hard and don't need to store it in plastic.
peanut butter and cheese
Artesian bread
No dishwasher, no clothes dryer….
we call that a sourdough artesian bread. mmmm
Cant beat old school ways of doing things. Yes it takes more effort but look at the old timers and what they did to survive. America has gotten spoiled as a first world nation because of the almighty dollar.
I need more of your wife's sourdough tips
I always thought you were a trumper😅
How in the same sentence can you say that you have lost faith in all government but believe that this narcissistic Administration will accomplish anything other than what serves his own purpose. Been watching you for a while but sorry you just lost me with that statement
Jet stove is fabulous also
