The way mike went out felt borderline disrespectful to the character. He could've been so much better later on but isayama killed him in what felt like such a forced way.
It was definitely shocking tho. Humanitiy's second strongest got blindsided by a giant fucking monke.
He literally fell to one of the greatest masterminds in Marley while being completely out of his depth. Zeke's knowledge was far beyond Miche's, so the fact that he was nearly successful if it weren't for the Monke titan being actually a genius means his character's done well. This is a show where badasses can die screaming and crying, because that's what war is

The Beast Titan would get clapped in a close range fight by generally any character. Even the anime admits it's a pretty weak titan when it comes to melee combat.

In all honesty, Mike was one of the most underrated dudes in the entire show, and was definitely done the dirtiest. He was the second best soldier, was just a normal dude compared to the superhuman Ackermans, could sniff titans out, and got up to fight the Beast after he was stripped of ODM gear and bitten by a titan. And then Isayama ripped him to shreds with 5 titans
