- This is a late introduction to my 1987 Honda Accord Lxi 5 speed hatch. I've had it for about 6 months and I plan to do quite a few things to it. Here's a quick video of what's going on.

I just bought one from my neighbor who turned 94 last month. She was the original owner and it has 100k miles on it. She only put 6k miles on it in the last 10 yrs. This thing is so mint, paint is perfect, interior is perfect man I love this car. BTW she sold it to me for 500 bucks

Biggest difference (besides the drive configuration, of course) is that you could buy 2 of these and keep them in parts for the price of a single dogged out Corolla GT-S on Craigslist that you'd have to tow home.

Definitely one of the coolest hatches ever. I had a prelude and accord, both with pop up lights, miss them.

I love this car! My aunt had one of these back in the day as well. Hers was a DX trim level with an automatic transmission. I’ve had Hondas in my family since around that time. I currently drive a 2005 Honda CR-V with the 5 speed manual transmission.
Ik im late to the party here but I bought a 87 lxi 5 speed ab a month ago and I was driving when some 80s song came on and it was insane. I love this car. All I really have to do is get it repainted and get the suspension redone and get a new windshield and then it’ll pretty much be mint
My mom had one just like this when I was a baby. That's where my soft spot for classic tuners came from. She used to beat the hell out of it carving corners in the California backroads while that little motor was screaming at 80 mph.
I always thought she had a AE88, but that's what my babysitter had back when you could find them relatively easy for decent prices.
Oh man it’s so cool to see another one of these on the road. My family has had one sense 86 and it has racked up 331k miles but still runs like a champ looks great too. Awesome car man

Just got a '91 CRX that's really clean as my second car (since losing the other several years ago). I probably liked driving the Accord more. Miss the interior, too.

Sweet car man, a blast from the past for sure. I am getting an 86 LXi Hatch soon, 5 speed, all stock. Gotta clean it up first, then start on Air intake, injectors, wheels and tires, etc. Yours is awesome and I will be watching for more videos man!

You can get a GRIP for your EK hatch! Had multiple $4k+ offers on my ex gf's 98 DX! Going through my 86 LXi's front suspension (bushings, ball joints, tie-rod ends, pads/rotors, struts and driver side axle. Plus a new set of wheels (bumping up to 15's) and possibly a set of lowering springs.
Definitely looking forward to the difference in performance as I am almost certain these bushings were factory and so many bj's are bad!
I have a '86 Lxi I'm fixing up, has 133,xxx miles on it. Been sitting since '99 I have the only one in town that I know of. Has the original H4 Transmission, still works too.
That's what's up! I have one of the only ones that's driven a few hundred miles a week in the next like 3 or 4 towns lol.

I just traded for one of these man mines an 87 lol same color and everything , she is a real beautiful car man I plan to build mine back to spec and give her another 400 k miles lol I also put a intake from a dokota truck on mine and it sounds real nice when you get on it

I’m thinking about getting an 86’ lxi hatchback with 53k miles on it. New engine and perfect paint, but my parents think it’ll off me one day because of its age.
These cars were built to last! You can't go wrong with one tbh. Everything inexpensive. The only thing is is that some parts are hard to find.

@@divineeculture hey bro I wanted to know how the suspension is holding up because I was going to buy lowering springs but since u said its not that bad cutting the springs i was thinking of doing it. And yeah man they are rare 😂 don't ever sell yours its too clean!
I can make a video on how the ride is with cut springs if that would help! I cut off about 2 coils in front and back but I had to install some spring spacer blocks to stiffen the rear springs since the springs are so soft, the rebound distance is great which causes the tires to rub over bumps and when I sat down in the car lol. The ride is not bumpy and with the new tires being balanced, is legitimately a comfortable ride and feels like stock.

I'm not sure how cheated someone would feel confusing it for an 86 but a panda paint job could be cool! Just do not paint the bonnet and lights black or grey, if you want to do that and not look like a fool, you'll wanna spend on real carbon

Hey can you or any one tell me what the little filter on top of the valve cover is???
It's a crankcase breather. No real purpose other than blocking off the hole in the valve cover so nothing comes in. Since I have an intake, the hose that connects to the valve cover needed to be removed.

Yes there are but they're not as common as you'd think. At least not the hatchbacks.
So I have an 86 accord dx hatch that's in relatively bad condition. Where can I find parts? I can't find anything for these cars on any websites
I'd say your best bet if possible is to buy another accord as a donor car but if not, the junkyard or facebook forums are your best bet.

what suspension or coilover do u use for this lowerd set up?
These are cut springs but I eventually modified 88 EF Civic suspension to lower more on ful body coilovers.
Imagine this being Takumi's Car instead of the AE86(85)
It won't even stand a chance against Shingo's EG6 or Sakai's DC2 .
What kind of mileage are you getting with that thing?

Actually there is! I was so focused, I didnt do a video like I should have but I fabbed some EF coilovers and slapped them on to close the wheel gap!

Nice. I just found myself an 88 Accord EXi (fixed lamps) that was rust free and good paint. Same 12v PGM-FI engine. Wish it was a 16v but 115hp is alright.
Just ordered a coilover kit to lower it. Then we'll see what kind rims I can fit on there =)
I've been looking at the Rota Kyusha rims but the 15x8 and 15x9 only come with et -15 to 0. 15x7 however you can get up to +40
Welcome to the family! You definitely have a desire one! And if I were you I would definitely go x7 with a lower offset. There's no way for me to tuck these big ass wheels lol.

Damn!!! That's some low mileage. There's 4 year old cars out there with that mileage lol. I bet she is super clean too! 107,000 divided by 32 years. That's how many miles the vehicle averaged per year.
@@divineeculture I live in Iowa so it has some rust and a rip on driver seat and the car sat for a while so it has dried out seals and hoses that I have to fix rusty water so new radiator all normal problems
