I was just in Scotland and I noticed this everywhere………..all the beautiful old churches aren’t churches anymore. That’s pretty sad when you think about it.
The Church of Scotland does their best to sell their buildings to other churches, for example the Orthodox church or other Protestant churches, but unfortunately there simply isn't the numbers attending the Presbyterian churches to keep them open.
I’m not religious in anyway but I think it may have a renaissance, not necessarily in bible teachings but in societies values. It would be good for all to become closer communities.
I have a church for sale... it was £30K in 2014, sold by Church of Scotland, bought for £54K in 2019 by me (because it had planning permission for a house conversion) BUT NOT IS ALL IT SEEMS.... the church sits atop archaeology from a former church and abbey., causing 90% humidity... cost of remedy 2 million pounds and the council has stopped maintaining the graveyard... The Church of Scotland disposed of the church knowing its problems and the last developer's agents did a very poor job of isolating the problems .... Buyer beware! Put your dreams on hold.... AND CHECK THE HISTORY OF THE SITE FOR YOURSELF... do not rely on professional advice... In Scotland it falls far short of 'professional'
Would love to hear more about this. What does it take to renovate a historical property like this? If we wanted to convert it to a residential property what permits or permissions are needed?

@kennymaclaurin3683 thanks for your comment. We call them lakes as we have a global audience versus lochs. The term "Great Britain" can also refer to the political territory of England, Scotland and Wales, which includes their offshore islands.[11] This territory, together with Northern Ireland, constitutes the United Kingdom.[2]
this guy obviously doesnt understand property law in scotland. The asking price does not reflect the property, its a mandatory bottom line , the property will go to closed bids and probably sell for many times that. Not the same way in England.
Hi Mark, well aware of the system. Churches usually go for low prices due to the limited amount of buyers who go after this type of property. The main churches seen going for high prices are city based.

Agreed, they are purpose built for their purpose.

Sadly, the demise of the Church of Scotland is their own fault. When little of your theology is supported by the Bible teachings, churches fail. Sad.

Edinburgh is not the main city of Scotland Glasgow is you tube. And don’t you forget it.
@andrewsmith-cm9qw thanks for the correction 🙏
But it is the capital 😊
Of course you meant to say the country of Scotland. not a city. Very offended the Australian Education Department has not done the right thing by you.
Yes, challenging as a New Zealander. 🤓

A cafe is far more useful.
Please do not call them lakes
Please do not account us to Britain or Great Britain, we are Scotland
