My 57 has India Ivory on my roof!! Looks great
Now that I'm adding trim, it's looking incredible!
Great job on the videos. Can’t wait to see it finished
Once I get it painted, which I plan to do this coming week, the rest of the work will all be rolling downhill. It ought to come together quickly after that!
Bill, just amazing. Man oh man I am so impressed on how those panels came out.
Two weeks later, they still look WET!
Panels came out great. I like the second white you chose. Great job.
That's the one I went with and I still hesitate to pick up those panels because they still look wet after 2 weeks! LOL!
Informative video. The TDS for Imron 3.5 doesn't recommend using a gravity feed gun but I've sprayed just like you did and came out looking fine. The paint was quite viscous even with about 5% reduction.
This product is like GLUE, but in a good way!
The panels look great..Ready for the next round.
Coming right up! I plan to paint next week!
My father use to use the original Imron from back in the day. Good ol single stage. He use to say that if you would catch a run in the paint with that you might as well hang your gun up. He also said as the paint aged it would get shinnier!
So when I met my paint guy to go over his recommendations (Episode 104), he was explaining that the current Axalta Rival line is the old Imron line. They've improved the chemistry to make present-day Imron something even better. If you think about it, it makes sense. The original Imron, being a polyurethane, was being compared to acrylic enamels and lacquers. But the SHINE! Those fender tubs still look WET!
Way to go!! very nice,, Thanks for sharing
Well, here comes the rest of the color! I plan to spray it next week!
Excited for you! So nice after all that work. 🎉 To finally get some color going on!! I love painting myself.
Good call on the ivory!!
We'll be spraying it next week!
That's the one that I went with!
More great progress Bill!
Bought the paint this week (Episode 104) and will be spraying next week! Stay tuned!
Love imron I painted my 77 GMC back in 1984 still killer imron is toughest and will lay down like a mirror
I'm glad I did the inner wheel wells first, where it won't show much, because I can see some of the rougher sanding marks that the paint didn't hide. I made a mental note of how smooth the surface needs to be, so I'm going to methodically go over the entire car with 600 grit to be certain.
Wow! That is shiney!! Looks great! Like you said, if the red & white goes on like that black, you will need sunglasses to look at it! ;)
You ain't lyin'! The sample panel of the red and ivory don't impress me to be as shiny, but we'll see. That was just slapped on. Let's see what happens when I'm actually going for finish. Fingers crossed!
I haven't heard the word Emron in ages ... used to be the go to for bullet proof finish in the old days ... hard to sand ... one thing is it gets on stuff from over spray its hard to get off ... it is shiney though ... looks great ... onward to the main event ...
100% correct. Clean up of me and the spray gun was tough!
Looks good.
Two weeks later, they still look WET!
Looks amazing! That new ivory is much better
It's a subtle color shift, but it's drastically better!
When you're happy and 'giggle', you almost sound like Skeletor. It's a good thing.
Hmmm... I had to swish that one around for a little bit and even pulled up an old He-Man video to check... you might be right!
Mint awesome emron is the best
I'd never used it before this, and I was floored!
Awesome 😊
I thought so!
My '56 is Dunee Biege. It looks very similar to the India Ivory from a color chart but I have never compared a finished paint job of the 2 colors. The Ditzler number is 21257.
At the end of the day, I went with the version that we sprayed in this second try. I plan to spray it next week!
Great 👍👍👍😃
My Sunday friend! LOL!
I use Imron 3.5HG all the time on restos on square body trucks. Inner fenders, inside beds on black trucks and satin Imron on core supports..... VG365 accelerator is your friend and makes Imron dry times a breeze.
In Episode 104, when I bought it, we talked a lot about the use of and need for an accelerator. It's mixed into the formulas that I bought, but the accelerator only has a shelf-life of several weeks once added. So, I need to spray it soon!
Definitely the 57 ivory on the white goes w/ interior white much much better than the fleet white type .
The more I looked at the original choice for white, next to the red it just looked so basic, something that would fit right in on an emergency vehicle. I think we did right with the original ivory!
Looks good! What happened to using HF disposable paint cups system.
I still have that set up on the shelf in the box and planned to pull it out for the topcoat and not the background parts. I've been trying to figure out how to do an unboxing video for a long time but now I'm on the clock. It's got to be done somewhere within my spraying videos, which will be next week!
Painted for 40 yrs this was my choice did a lot of black paint jobs can’t beat it working on 55 chevy 210 sedan rust free and laser straight guest what color 😊
I sprayed a 1981 Corvette jet-black for a friend about 30 years ago. As a paint color, black can be unforgiving. I was worried about not having enough light and having it show every single flaw, but this was like a cake-walk!
Thanks!
ilooks good
Thanks!
I was thinking like Joe as far as imron being super sticky on Everything. Super glossy but hard to sand. Wasn't this a paint used in the aircraft industry? Also how was it to get off your skin 🤔 😊
Correct on all counts. It's definitely an industrial product. It was recommended for the wheel wells because it's so bullet proof. I won't be using it for the body though. It's too expensive and is likely not too forgiving for having to sand and buff any flaws.
Better, but still needs a few shades darker. Not much , but a little. But don’t darken it too much. The red is brighter so the ivory needs to be a few shades brighter too. Real close.
After sitting on it for a week, I looked at it in the shade, in the garage, in the sun, under cloudy skies, in the dark, etc. and I was satisfied enough to go with what I have. It's going to look great! Fingers crossed!
: )
One way to die your gray but black is too dark😅😊.
Good one!!!
